We still don’t have batting practice in franchise.

    That blows my mind.

Why is batting practice limited to the main menu and the default roster (or at minimum, it can’t be your franchise roster)? Why aren’t there cages? Why isn’t there a pregame batting practice option, in franchise, where I can take practice cuts against my pitching coach, with my current franchise lineup, in the stadium I’m about to play a game, as fans trickle in?

Like a lot of people, I spend hours and hours and hours tweaking my franchise roster. I have zero interest in batting practice outside of the mode, outside of that roster. I do have interest in batting practice within the mode, with that roster; I always have, afaik most of us always have, and they’ve NEVER given it to us.

Agree with this whole heartedly. Expanded to allowing me to choose to take BP with a left handed or right handed coach to get ready for the starter that night.

Adding to it, if you choose to take BP, and your player(s) have a good practice, their zone would expand and get a small boost, likewise, a bad day at the cage, and you’ll risk that player losing a little mojo for the night.

Absolutely should be an option in Franchise with a risk/reward, aside from getting your timing down, on the line.

Man immersion is killed by the crowd. They just don’t react to stuff. A foul ball can get a louder reaction than a big strikeout or shot in the gap... I don’t get it

Have only played 2 three game sets. Last year the same CPU relief pitchers would appear over and over again like clock work. Could count on it. Looking at my box scores so far I don’t see that. Only 6 games, but it WAS obvious last year.

I bought this game out of habit. It was literally no reason for me to stop playing 20’. I guess everything went into performance this time around because that 4K 60 is the only substantial upgrade to me. But even last year got that bump when the new gen hit. I think I may have to finally start to play a franchise to get more out of this years version

Because the DD crowd hasn't asked for it yet.

Great to hear! Curious what setting you’re using for SP Sta/RP Sta/Manager Hook?

This is the kind of thing I've been hoping they would address for about 3 or 4 years now, and again they haven't. It's the same thing with the dated/bland/pasted commentary and DeRosa still telling you to eliminate the change or the heater on the next pitch while the pitcher throws precisely that pitch.

I like the game, there is only one issue I have ran into. During my seasons I like to bat myself, then switch to quick manage when it's my turn to pitch. This used to give me really good games until this year. My pitchers absolutely dominate in almost every single game. I'm about 45 games into a season playing as the Mets on Legend/Legend difficulty, and deGrom has two no hitters, including one that went through the 11th on opening day, Syndergaard has one and Carrasco is through 8 innings with a no hitter as I type this. I also have at least 10 shutouts, probably more. I know the Mets have a good staff, but this is ridiculous. Not sure what it is that is making the AI so bad against quick manage pitching, but it's kinda bumming me out.

Revisiting pinpoint pitching for the first time since tech test. Also switched over to dynamic difficulty. Just struggled through a 4 run top of the fifth with Tyler Anderson. His line with Pulse first and Pinpoint second:

                      3IP, 0H, 0BB, 6K, 0R, 35P
                      2IP, 4H, 3BB, 1K, 4R, 59P

Probably shouldn't have let him throw 47 pitches in the 5th but he was cruising until the wheels abruptly fell off. Totally lost the feel for the change and couldn't spot the fastball. Pinpoint pitching... It's so reeeeaaaallllll.

Batter hit a homer in his previous at bat, when he steps to the plate his next a bat the NYM crowd is all over him. Loved it.

I have hit a couple home runs using the “contact” swing. I have tried to make it harder this year by using zone hitting and only allowing myself to see the tiny indicators for perfect flyball,,liner and ground ball.

Working the count, I allow myself a power swing rarely, but with two strikes I try and utilize the contact swing, and have actually hit homeruns because I took an easy swing and made perfect contact.

I LOVE that this is implemented, as sometimes irl, you are just trying to make good contact, and you hit one out.

Also, add me to the list of those who love the bat sounds this year. Last year’s M-80 explosion on well hit balls was overdone and got old fast. This year, it sounds like what wood hitting a leather ball sounds like on the field. There is a sound, like almost a snap, when balls are squared up. They nailed it this year.

Yep. I’m playing on a JBL sound system with a big woofer and you’re right. I’m not really understanding the digs on the crowds either. Maybe it’s just my system

Yes... I am one of the biggest critics when it comes to laziness, player info, pitchers not having the actual they throw... players morphing through one another.. so, I’m on these guys every year...

But I read some of the complaints, and I seriously wonder if I downloaded an entirely different game...

I’m still in my testing phase for my 20 game slider set, but I’ll say this with absolute certainty-

This years game, with PP pitching, fielding upgrade, animations, (and I’m on the PS4 non-pro version) is the most fun I’ve had ever with The Show.

                              It’s not even close.

Completely agree on the fun factor. I’m playing on a regular PS4 and haven’t played The Show since 18. This game has something different different going for it than any prior version I’ve played. Beyond the mechanical and graphical improvements. Just get some good sliders and wow I haven’t had this much fun since Ken Griffey presents Major League Baseball on SNES.
