I don’t know if this is the place but Country what type of hitting and pitching do you use?? And any edits to the default? I struggle with the timing at the moment hitting, and part of that may be just playing with the Tigers but we’ve scored about 10 runs the last week lol

I hit with zone hitting using the wide camera

I use meter pitching with outfield view

      No adjustments to sliders

Try increasing the timing window slider a click at a time to see if that helps

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

For the third time since the beginning the PS3 era, I've played all 162. In 2012, I made it to the World Series before falling to the Yankees in 7. In 2019, I was upset by the Reds in 4 in the division series. Hoping for a better postseason outcome this time.

          NATIONAL LEAGUE
          1. Braves (112-50)
          2. Dodgers (102-60)
          3. Brewers (91-71)
          4. Padres (92-70)
          5. Mets (89-73)

          MVP: Cody Bellinger, Dodgers (.287, 48, 136)
Cy Young: Aaron Nola, Phillies (18-7, 3.02)

Ronald Acuña Jr. was the presumptive NL MVP most of the season, but Bellinger had a ridiculous September to take the award. Mike Soroka was snubbed on the Cy Young after going 21-5 with a 2.50 ERA.

          AMERICAN LEAGUE
          1. Yankees (98-64)
          2. White Sox (97-65)
          3. Astros (96-66)
          4. Twins (94-68)
          5. Red Sox (88-75)

          MVP: Mike Trout, Angels (.347, 51, 130)
Cy Young: Gerrit Cole, Yankees (20-5, 2.99)

The second AL wild card came down to a game 163 between the Red Sox and Indians. Boston won 4-3 to advance to the postseason.

When I say franchise mode is all I play, I'm not lying ... lol.

              Braves set playoff roster

Not a lot of surprises for the Braves as they set their playoff roster. Austin Riley earned a spot on the team with a strong September. Riley began the year as the Braves starting third baseman but was demoted in May. It's unclear whether Riley or Johan Camargo will start at third base. Camargo was having a breakout season before slumping, both offensively and defensively, from August until the end of the season.

Ehire Adrianza beat out Josh Harrison for the final bench spot. Top prospect Cristian Pache made the team as a defensive replacement and pinch-runner.

              Catchers
              Travis d'Arnaud
              Tyler Flowers

              Infielders
              Freddie Freeman
              Ozzie Albies
              Austin Riley
              Johan Camargo
              Pablo Sandoval
              Dansby Swanson
              Ehire Adrianza

              Oufielders
              Marcell Ozuna
              Ronald Acuna Jr.
              Cristian Pache
              Joc Pederson
              Adam Duvall

              Starting Pitchers
              Mike Soroka
              Max Fried
              Ian Anderson
              Charlie Morton

              Relief Pitchers
              Will Smith
              Chris Martin
              Shane Greene

Cardinals acquire RHP Phil Maton from Indians for 2 players

The Cardinals and Indians agreed to a trade that will send RHP Phil Maton to the Cardinals for 2 players.

                Cardinals get:

                RHP Phil Maton

                Indians get:

                OF Conner Capel
                RHP Griffin Roberts

30 year old Phil Maton will come to the Cardinals as another piece to a bullpen that has been good at times this year, but continues to have shake up as the Cardinals try to obtain consistency. Currently the Cardinals have 2 arms (Jordan Hicks & Hansel Robles) in Memphis that were on the opening day roster and one (Seth Elledge) who isn't in the organization anymore. The Cardinals have recently relied upon prpspect Junior Fernandez, but his recent struggles will see him demoted back to Memphis where he was expected to pitch all year. Alex Reyes who was so dominant last year, lost his closers role as he's seen his ERA balloon to near 5 and has blown as many saves in half a season (4) as he did all of last year.

Maton has limited big league experience this year due to injury, but in his 11 innings of work in Cleveland has an astounding 3-1 record with 1 save and an ERA of 0.86 and a WHIP nearly the same. He is expected to take over the spot of Junior Fernandez and help be the bridge that gets the ball into the 8th/9th inning, where the Cardinals have Kirby Yates, Daniel Norris, and Roberto Osuna residing.

The Indians are getting two players in return to help bolster a team that expected to contend this year, but just couldn't get it together, but has the necessary pieces to be a contender next season.

OF Conner Capel is 24 years old and one would expect that he will be on the active roster after the trade as the Indians are depleted in the MLB ready outfielders due to injuries and roster moves. Capel has big league experience and was quite successful. The Cardinals thought he may fit into their future plans, but with the emergence of Justin Toerner and acquisition if Magnerius Sierra this year, Capel was the odd man out.

RHP Griffin Roberts has electric stuff and was nearly recalled by the Cardinals about 2 weeks ago when Alex Reyes fell apart. Roberts has pitched exceptionally well in Memphis since being promoted when Junior Fernandez was recalled to St.Louis. Roberts does have a 3.15 ERA, but thats due to one poor outing where he was left in an extra innings game where it got away. He is a perfect 8 for 8 in saves and possesses 24 strikeouts in just 15 innings of work.

The Cardinals don't anticipate making additional moves at the deadline, but there could always be a surprise. We know they discussed James Paxton of the Mariners to bolster the rotation/pitching staff and Jorge Alfaro of the Marlins to add offensive productivity to their catcher spot, but neither is expected to happen now that Maton has been acquired and the two pieces involved in that deal, were part of the other trade discussions.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

I think my favorite part of this thread is reading about all the moves everybody makes.

Mets, Twins advance to Division Series
The New York Mets and Minnesota Twins are moving on.

Dominic Smith and Pete Alonso homered and Jacob deGrom allowed one run over eight innings as the Mets beat the Padres 7-1 in the NL wild-card game. New York will face Atlanta in the NLDS. Los Angeles will face Milwaukee in the other NLDS series.

The Brewers finished the regular season in Los Angeles. And the Mets finished the regular season in Atlanta before flying to San Diego for the wild-card game and then right back to Atlanta.

In the AL wild-card game, the Twins touched up Chris Sale for five runs in the first four innings and then held on for a 5-3 win. Minnesota will face the Yankees in the ALDS while the Chicago White Sox take on Houston in the other best-of-five series.

Pitching matchups set for Braves-Mets NLDS

Game 1: Mike Soroka vs. Noah Syndergaard
Game 2: Max Fried vs. Carlos Carrasco
Game 3: Ian Anderson vs. Jacob deGrom

Cardinals have won 9 straight after All-Star Break

The Cardinals find themselves scorching hot to start the unofficial second half of the season, as they have won 9 straight since the mid-summer classic.

The Cardinals have won all 9 in St.Louis sweeping the Cubs, Braves, and now Brewers and currently find themselves a half game up on the Reds in the National League Central Division.

I think a lot of the success has to be given to the fact that Nolan Arenado's bat has returned to the lineup. In 6 games since returning, Arenado is 13 for 22 with two homeruns and 8 RBI's. His return has sparked the bat of Paul DeJong and Tyler O'Neill as both have hit safely in each game played after the break.

Starting pitching has been pretty solid as well as the Cards saw Jake Odorizzi earn his NL leading 11th win and Matthew Boyd pitched a complete game shutout against the Brewers in his Cardinal debut on Saturday.

The bullpen has been ok although Osuna blew a save against the Cubs that required a Nolan Arenado walkoff homerun in the bottom of the 9th, and Alex Reyes and Junior Fernandez have struggled thus leading the organization to make one trade for bullpen help in the acquisition of Phil Maton.

Still the Cardinals are hot and will look to continue this winning streak as they head to Pittsburgh for a 4 game series that will conclude July and start the dog days of summer with the calendar flipping to August.

And the pressure is already on.

We were four outs away from taking Game 1 from the Mets, but Brandon Nimmo hit a game-tying two-run homer and Dominic Smith then went back-to-back off Chris Martin in an eventual 5-3 win for New York. The Mets turned the tables on us, hitting four homers in all.

We'll try to bounce back in Game 2 with Max Fried taking the mound. There are reports that Martin, who struggled toward the end of September, may see his role reduced going forward.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

                        And Joctober has arrived.

Joc Pederson homered twice, including a three-run homer in the fourth, as the Braves routed the Mets 12-0 to even their best-of-five NLDS at 1-1.

Max Fried scattered seven hits over six shutout innings for the win. The Mets just couldn't get a timely hit and then their bullpen fell apart in the later innings as Atlanta pulled away. Austin Riley, Pablo Sandoval and Ozzie Albies added homers for the Braves.

The series shifts to New York now. Ian Anderson faces Jacob deGrom in Game 3. Charlie Morton will face Marcus Stroman in Game 4.

Elsewhere: The Dodgers and Brewers split the first two games in Los Angeles. Gerrit Cole pitched a one-hitter in the Yankees Game 1 win over Minnesota, but the Twins bounced back to even their ALDS in Game 2. Only the White Sox were able to hold serve at home, winning both games in Chicago to take a 2-0 series lead to Houston.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Franchise Discussion Thread

The Boston Red Sox have had one of the best starts to a season you could ever ask for. After finishing in last place in the shortened 2020 season, the 2021 Red Sox currently sit at an American League best 61-20, only second to the Dodgers 62-18 record.

The 2021 Red Sox have undergone quite a few changes mid-season, having dealt away a couple key players. The Red Sox struck a massive four-team trade at the beginning of June, involving the Miami Marlins, Colorado Rockies, and the Minnesota Twins.

Red Sox Receive: Nick Neidert, Ryan Castellani, Garrett Hampson, Nick Gordon, Ryan McMahon, Brent Rooker, Isan Diaz, Dom Nunez

                          Marlins Receive: Eduardo Rodriguez

Rockies Receive: Xander Bogaerts, Kevin Plawecki, Jose Iglesias

Twins Receive: Trevor Story, Garrett Cooper, Taylor Motter

Xander Bogaerts' season just wasn't going the way the Red Sox wanted, and given the current financial standing of the team, they saw an opportunity to get some pieces to build around, especially in the rotation. Eduardo Rodriguez was a mess but still showed flashes during his starts, enough so that the Marlins were more than willing to take a flier to help continue their push for the NL East. The Rockies motive for the move was easy, Trevor Story was a free agent after the season and had already said he wouldn't resign, and was hitting worse than Bogaerts, and Bogaerts contract was a huge win for a team like the Rockies that were likely to struggle signing any big names this coming offseason given their recent history.

The return for Boston was more of a quantity over quality, though some of the pieces have made a case to stick around, such as Nick Neidert and Nick Gordon, but there's still plenty of baseball to play.

Now, let's talk about the how the Red Sox got to where they are currently in the standings. The pitching has been huge, with both Tanner Houck and Nathan Eovaldi in the running for the Cy Young award. Houck currently leads the team with a 12-3 record and a 2.80 ERA, which has unfortunately risen over the past few weeks. The pitching did take a massive blow to start the season, as Chris Sale took a comebacker to the side of his head, resulting in a skull fracture, thus ending his season after just three games.

The bullpen has been arguably the best in baseball with Matt Barnes (28 SV, 63 K, 1.42 ERA) and Ryan Brasier (32.0 IP, 56 K, 0.28 ERA) leading the charge. They've also received excellent results from rookies Garrett Whitlock and Kaleb Ort, who have combined for a 2.27 ERA over 75.1 innings.

Now to the league leading offense. It's extremely difficult to narrow the offensive leader down to one guy as multiple guys have taken the reigns throughout the season. Kyle Schwarber, Rafael Devers, Hunter Renfroe, and J.D. Martinez, and Alex Verdugo have combined for 113 home runs, that's more than 24 of the 30 teams in the league. Some bad news though as Renfroe is down for the next couple of months with a fractured shin.

Jarren Duran has been a hit machine in his first major league season, currently sitting fifth in the majors with 91 hits, but first with a .374 average. The only thing hindering a Rookie of the Year award is his lack of runs batted in, but that falls onto the guys ahead of him.

The only real slow spots around the diamond have been second base and shortstop. Nick Gordon has picked it up the last couple of weeks, currently batting at a .282 clip with two home runs, but the team does still have Jeter Downs waiting in Worcester. Second base has been the real question mark as they still have yet to find a permanent fixture with a revolving door of Kike Hernandez, Isan Diaz, Ryan McMahon, Christian Arroyo, Downs, and Garrett Hampson trying their hands at the keystone. Hernandez has been the best offensively, but he is too busy filling other holes to be the permanent guy.

This team has definitely changed over the first three months, and they may still have some question marks, but one thing is for sure, they have the talent to go all the way

With all of this being said, there's still plenty of baseball left and the Red Sox can't wait to see what's in store for them and the rest of the baseball world. Stay tuned.

Braves stop Cardinals winning streak at 13

The Cardinals winning streak ends at 13 games as the Braves won the series opener 4-2 on Friday in Atlanta.

Carlos Martinez was going along pretty well as the Cards led 2-1 in the 5th but after a walk to Dansby Swanson with 2 outs, Freddie Freeman hit his major league leading 32nd homerun to give the Braves a 3-2 lead that they wouldn’t relinquish.

Cristian Pache hit a solo shot in the 8th off of Kirby Yates to make the final score 4-2.

It was a heck of a run by the Cardinals who now hold a 2 game lead on the Reds in the National League Central division.

                              Braves advance to NLCS

The Braves won both games at Citi Field to beat the Mets 3-1 in the NLDS and advance to the NLCS.

The key moment of the series came in the 5th inning of Game 3. The Mets were ahead 3-0 and ace Jacob deGrom was dealing on the mound, having already racked up nine strikeouts. Freddie Freeman drew a two-out walk and Marcell Ozuna followed with a double - the first hard hit ball off deGrom. That set the stage for another Joctober moment. The Mets ace left a slider up and Joc Pederson obliterated it for a 446-foot homer to tie the game at 3. While deGrom retired Travis d'Arnaud to get out of the inning, he was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the bottom half. The Braves teed off on the beleaguered Mets bullpen, scoring four runs in the sixth of an eventual 9-5 win.

Pederson hit another two-run homer to give the Braves an early 2-1 lead in Game 4. Ozzie Albies hit two homers, Austin Riley added a solo shot and Dansby Swanson added some insurance with a two-run triple as Atlanta closed out the series with an 8-3 win.

The Braves relied heavily on their bullpen, but it was the unheralded arms that led them. While Will Smith, Chris Martin and Diego Castillo were all touched for runs, Shane Greene, Tyler Matzek and A.J. Minter (who picked up the win in both games in New York) shut the Mets down.

The NLCS will be a rematch of 2020. The Dodgers rallied from a 2-1 series deficit to knock off the Brewers in five games. Walker Buehler pitched a two-hit complete-game shutout in the deciding game.

The Yankees will face the White Sox for the AL crown. New York and Chicago each won in five in the ALDS, eliminating the Twins and Astros respectively.
