Ashby, Lutz, and a guy lotto ticket like Erceg would suffice for Gallo. The Rangers' farm is weak in the exact positions you're sending back. As far as Dalbec, he's a realistic target for a bigger fish and not really someone they'd be looking for prospects for (if you wanted to, Perez and Small would do it however). A more realistic Red Sox player to target and buy low on would be Chavis who'd cost you like Corey Ray or Zack Brown in a change of scenery type of swap.

What do you guys think I could get for Kirby Yates?

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
If you're going for realism, it is extremely unlike the Padres trade their top 2 prospects for yet another ace.
Darvish, Snell, Lamet, Musgrove, Paddack, Weathers, and Morejon can fill the rotation nicely. Overpaying for another ace is extremely unlikely, especially considering they get Clevinger back next year and Gore is MLB ready
Do you think there's a possibility that the Rockies would trade Story for Castillo? If so, what would this trade look like?Comment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
Not really no. The Rockies would need to include prospects since Story is a rental and it doesn't make much since for the Reds to take a rental while also making their big league club worseComment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
If he re-signed, Story would probably be the best MLB ready player the Reds could get for Castillo and they could maybe get a couple of B potential prospects to go along with him.Comment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
Well I assume the Reds wouldn't make the trade unless Story was going to re-sign there. Or is that not really a thing in baseball?

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
If the Rockies are no good then how about the Royals? They've had a blistering start in my Franchise and have a few prospects that look enticing. Bobby Witt Jr. is the obvious one. Kyle Isbel and MJ Melendez look good in game but they're not even on the top 100 list in real life.
Any other teams you'd be looking at as potential suitors?Comment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
I feel like that would be part of the equation in real life though. You often see teams trade for players on expiring deals because they've come to an unofficial agreement that they'll re-sign with the team that trades for them. If baseball is specifically different from others sports in this way then fair enough but I think that should be factored in if not.

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
That's why I mentioned the other guys though. Two high 60s, A potential players seems like a good foundation for a trade package but they're not even top 100 prospects in real life so I'm not sure if that's realistic even though it's probably fair in terms of in game value.Comment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
Yoan Moncada and Eloy Jimenez were traded as prospects. It's fine if you don't want to trade Witt but it means you won't be able to get an aceComment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
Last one on Castillo for a while. I'm not massively familiar with the Twins so this may not make sense for them or where they are as a team at the moment but this trade graded out almost exactly even on the trade simulator.
CIN get:
SS - Royce Lewis
OF - Alex Kiriloff
SP - Jordan Balazovic
MIN get:
SP - Luis Castillo
Thoughts on this one?Comment

Re: MLB The Show Trade Discussion Thread
Would it be worth it in the long run? I don't know...depends on if you're a contender or not. Trading for a player like that is going to sting though, especially when the Reds aren't really in rebuild mode.
I could see something more in line with Larnach+Lewis+Duran+Balz though. Pretty much the same end value, but spread out a bit more, and it's not trading away from the MLB roster. Looks a lot like the Matt Garza trade from the Rays to the Cubbies a long, long time ago...2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Brewers:
Cain (-17.7)
Ashby (8.9)
Peralta (14)
Turang (22.8)
Rockies
Blackmon (-37)
Marquez (67.2)
Rock's shed some money and get some interesting prospects back, while the Brew Crew pick up a top of the rotation pitcher, upgrade an OF bat. Gotta take a bit of money on, but I don't hate it...
In terms of other negative value SP/SS's that are close in terms of value, and depending on where the teams are sitting in terms of contending:
-David Price
-Nick Ahmed
-Johnny Cueto
-Scott Kingery
-Dallas Kuechel (you'd need to add a small piece)
-A 1 year reunion with Zack Greinke? (Kidding...Stros will be contending, and they're completely out of that contract after this year...doesn't make sense to spread the money over 2 years. It would be fun though...)2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment
