Really enjoying the game on Series X playing on dynamic difficulty. I’m getting that usual feeling where the game is so good I start to worry they will ruin it with upcoming patches. It’s so good out of the box.

Re: MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions

I've had very conflicting impressions for this year's game. Gameplay/Presentation are both amazing, my biggest issue is the single-player modes.

I really don't like the direction they've gone with Road to the Show over the last few entries. Especially the current progression/loadout system. It feels way too much like a video game.

Franchise just doesn't do enough to draw me in and keep me interested. There's really not much depth to this mode. I don't have much of a reason to care about my team or the league. Adding something like a league/team news feed would go a long way towards fixing this. I'm thinking about creating 30 fake teams/stadiums and doing a fictional league. I think I'd have more fun with the mode playing it that way.

Custom sounds/music still being gone is a huge bummer. Very disappointed that it isn't back for this generation quite yet.

Create a Ballpark is what I've had the most fun with. The new tools are so useful and I'm very happy that they added night mode.

Last year I don't really remember them touching the offline much. Too a fault imo. When pinpoint needed to be tuned hard, DD got adjustments, but those didn't carry over to franchise.

I am in agreement about RTTS.

I simply do not like what they did to this mode at all. My son who played probably 200 hours of RTTS on MLB 20 told me…..blech…what did they do?

He is going Franchise only this cycle and I also told him to create himself and player lock inside franchise mode. Does not replace what RTTS used to be but he likes it better than what the mode has become.

I am still going to try out this years iteration of March To October and report back.

What were the circumstances? Ninth inning? Because there IS precedent for this.

Noted home run hitter, bases loaded? Sometimes you'd rather give up one run than four.

I still watch this video on occasion because it's just so surreal:

It happened to Josh Hamilton too, at the peak of his powers.

And in recorded baseball history, every single time this has happened, the pitching team won the game.

One thing I've noticed, is that I haven't seen the cutscene showing the weather.

                Anyone seen this?
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

True, however another gamer has had this happen. Will there be a situation in the game when a bases loaded walk walks in the winning run? I’m guessing yes.

I'm actually really enjoying RTTS this year.

I think I disliked it last year because they sort of forced you to be a 2-Way Player. I know you could change it and focus on one or the other, but it was clearly built to be a 2-way.

This year you get to choose again. And the way the perks affect your attributes is really friendly.

My only issue with it is that I got drafted by Baltimore again. Every year for me it's either Baltimore or the White Sox.

Yeah I’m not really sure what people are talking about. RTTS has been by far the best it’s been in years and probably the best I can ever remember. And the complaint about how the load outs make it, “feel like video game”, is just absurd. For starters without the load outs you’d be a 50 overall and stuck in double A for a while. Instead of giving you insane attributes increases every game, you get small ones, but have load outs and equipment to make your guy better, I think it’s a perfect mix of realism and rpg. Secondly this is a damn video game, the argument that RTTS feels like a video game, what were you expecting? [emoji23] Some people want to feel like they’re playing a video game, because they are. This game is not a baseball simulator, it’s a video game. If you want to play a baseball simulator play OOTP. Complaining in the impressions that the game feels like a video game is just so crazy to me.

It's a terrible system created with the only purpose to bring other players to DD mode. You play with missions, programs, cards: at that point you're ready to play DD. At the moment the only mode you can play without the constant whispering "hey dude, why don't you play DD ?!" is Franchise until they find a way to put cards even there.

Not everyone plays games for the same reasons as you. Grinding away in the minors for multiple years as a low rated player sounds more enjoyable to me than the current setup.

If THAT happens and we have video proof, that would be a completely fair criticism and something that should be patched out.

Should be an easy logic fix, though: "If bases are loaded, do not IBB if tied or ahead by one run."

Disappointing that they haven’t updated Rogers Centre with the new video screens that were announced a while ago.
