Re: What do you need added to mlb23 to purchase it?

I'm still super enjoying MLBTS22... but I have been thinking recently about what possible updates will be promoted during the MLBTS23 streams.

For me, I'm really hoping that SDS kicks 23's graphics and presentation into the next gear fully taking advantage of the power of PS5/XSX, similar to how 2K did with their NBA game.

That's my finger's crossed hope, however, in reality I doubt we see that sort of upgrade for at least another full year, or two, or even three.

I'm seriously afraid that PS4/XBone/Switch will be holding this game back for at least a few more releases since SDS will want to continue to keep Crossplay going.

It is what it is right now bc of the limited production of PS5/XSX consoles. It's slowed down the adoption rate of new consoles, therefore, it's slowed down the leap from one generation to the next by game developers/publishers.

Names and numbers and Y2Y would be nice. Seems like a simple request must not be.
Bad luck this year we had a thunder storm and it took out 800 players I created in 2021 and 2022 The Show and made a paperweight out of my PS5. Could be worse just thankful we moved from Florida to Texas.

That’s terrible, that’s a ton of work lost and a expensive hard to get console.

Someone mentioned manager edits. That would be amazing. Tired of having to replace managers with fake names. NO reason we can not edit all managers to have real names for every coaching position

Like for me being in my 40's I barely notice the graphical upgrades anymore. So graphics are not a selling point for me =. I also only play franchise mode so for me its all about that. I do not need to hear better trade logic or anything like that

I need them to go deeper. Maybe full minor leagues all the way down to rookie ball. Maybe they add the real minor league stadiums for AAA and AA and also A and add full A ball rosters. That would make me want to move to the 23 version.

My fear is all we get is some new trade logic , minor graphic upgrade, and cross over saves or something which wont be enough for me
You barely notice the graphical upgrades anymore because they're so miniscule anyway.

This year was the first year that I didn't even play a franchise. I bought the game, and tried to play it a little. But I lost interest within the first few games. It's sad because I've seen this coming (as have many of us) for so long. Franchise has been completely neglected for 10, heck nearly 20 years at this point and it's so stale that it's just not fun anymore for me. I basically played the same mode with very few changes for 10 years and thought to myself, "well, franchise overall is pretty good, so I can just do this even if they don't improve it."

But I was wrong. The fact that we play the same interleauge schedule every year because the developers don't even want to mess with it show just how little they truly care. Literally ALL they'd have to do is go back and get the schedules from 5-10 years ago, implement them, and just let them repeat. I'd say unless there's a huge, legitimate, major overhaul to franchise, MLB 23 will be the first time that I can remember I just won't buy a baseball game.

I'm done with Madden. I've tried it periodically from year to year the past decade or so, and I can never get into it. I was fooled by Madden 21, but didn't bite in 22. Their, "three," franchise updates are absolutely hilarious.

All sports game have gone the way of online, team modes filled with microtransations and buying packs. The developers just have no incentive whatsoever to plug time and energy, and more importantly, money into franchise mode. We are a dying breed. And for those who can still play year after year of franchise mode and enjoy it, I envy you. Perhaps in MLB 28 I'll come back and it will, "seem," new to me because I'll have not played it in so long. But again, unless they have huge, sweeping changes to MLB The Show's franchise mode next year, I'm out. My 14-year old son and all his friends are the future. They play Diamond Dynasty, want to buy packs and make ridiculous looking uniforms. That's who the developers cater to. It was a good ride for me that lasted nearly three decades, but I just don't see me getting back to the days where I spent hours upon hours playing franchise mode.

All their stats MLB/AAA/AA every year-
It would be nice to know when they were traded and who they were traded for, add that to the tab..
(they also need to give user powers to veto any trade)
Managers are useless. Can you even re-sign them? What's the point in even having them and the attributes they offer just feels too basic, should be a way to make them have more personality. Why not also add manager ejections/cutscenes
Just frustrating how, like some posters have stated before, MLB is all about the history and that isnt shown at all in this game.
Just put more life into franchise mode, would make it more exciting for me personally. We shouldnt have to keep side spreadsheets to track our league

I love all your points here about needing more stat keeping in franchise!

100% , Drives me nutes to to bring a guy up from AA to AAA and not see his AA stats. I am no expert but does not seem like a complicated fix to me.

I would absolutely love to see a mode like NBA 2k's MyERA added to the game. If I could start a franchise in a specific era of baseball and each era played somewhat "life like", I would be hooked on the game throughout the year. Until then, I still have MLB 20 classic rosters and sliders to hold me over with the occasional modern day fun with MLB 22.

Ironically MLB23 is virtually guaranteed to be the version to fix your interleague complaint. With MLB’s new real life schedule coming that problem will fix itself because you’ll play every team every season anyway.

Yeah look I will probably get it day 1 because by default the new playoff system

if not for that I would really have needed Y2Y saves back but I guess they got me anyway because of the playoff system

I would love it if we could create managers too. I mean we had about 4 managers fired this year before we even got to June and we couldn't change it to who they should be.
