Because if you're pushing graphics beyond higher resolutions, you're going to be bumping against cross play. If you're doing that, you're basically splitting the game up into two versions like they have with 2k and Madden. Which is fine, but does split the player base and would make an entire platform, which you just launched on, very much a secondary game.

So split it. Madden and 2k did it and so can MLB.

NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.

First thing is a meaningful graphical upgrade. Seriously, go look at some of the promo videos from MLB 15-16 at tell me that the current game looks any more than marginally better than those 7-8 year old games. Its ridiculous that I should be asking for a PS5 game to look like a PS5 game and not a mediocre PS4 game in 4K. Players still look stiff and lifeless, uniforms look and animate like they are made out of hard clay, the grass and dirt textures are legitimately PS3 quality. Its time this game got back to the graphical powerhouse it once was on PS3.

March to October needs the ability to use custom rosters. Tying this mode to DD XP seems to really be holding this mode back from being the true casual season mode it wants to be. Because of it you are forced to use the games default rosters or opening day rosters which is fine when the game first comes out but it loses all its replayability later in the year. I'm allowed to use custom teams and stadiums, why can't I do a fantasy draft or even use an updated roster?

Speaking of custom content, the Uniform Creator needs a massive overhaul. Just take a look at what is possible with NBA2K's uniform creator and see how much better this one can be. First of all the font choices for numbers and names are beyond abysmal. Why do 80% of the fonts look like they were designed for a 5 year old? We should at the very least be able to choose from existing team fonts. How there is no basic block number is beyond me as well. Let us upload images for logos instead of making us rely on a finicky editor. Sleeve patches would be huge as well, and give us more slots. One home and one away slot is far too constrictive.

And finally the Stadium Creator. Its pretty great as it is but it could be so much more. Wall ads and markings and placeable outfield bullpens are obvious ones. How about multiple foul territory configurations. Ability to recolor certain objects like rocks, trees, and fences. Basic shapes that can be used to create custom objects. Custom signs and flags. Home run celebration events, fireworks, fountains, etc. Team branding options like a big sign over the scoreboard or a team logo on the dugout or behind the plate. Also the night lighting is a good start but could really use some work. For example no matter how well lit the stadium is, the crowd always appears way too dark. Invisible light sources would be great as well so I can light features in the background without having to figure out how to hide a giant light tower.

If any of these things are tackled in a meaningful way I would absolutely be tempted to to buy day 1. Or if, you know, it was added to PS Plus Extra or something.

Just to piggy back on the uniform thing - PLEASE for the love of god fix the Yankees uniforms! The numbers being low on the back as if there should be a nameplate drives me bananas

Madden and 2k hadn't just ported their games to the new system. If SDS was going to split the games so quickly, I don't think they would have spent the time and money porting it over to the Switch only to largely abandon development a year later.

Plus, Madden and 2k are both much more popular games with larger player bases. Splitting a larger play base isn't as damaging as splitting a smaller one.

The argument that graphics can't improve until they stop developing for the older gen has been around a lot longer than the game has had cross-play so I'm not convinced that is the reason. People were saying it in last gen as well and when they stopped making the PS3 version the graphics still barely improved.

Even if cross-play was the reason, they could still have it but just keep it generation specific. For example a PS5 player can play with an XSX player but not PS4. But that PS4 player can still play with XBO and Switch players. That basically already happens when someone uses a created stadium.

What do you need added to MLB 23 to purchase it?

              MLB 23 needs the following:

              1. Brand new presentation packages. Presentation has been lacking for years. I forget what year that Sony MLB had a great presentation package with a lot of cut scenes and choosing different camera angles..etc. Also bring back SLOW PLAY. Enough with a rushed or hybrid setting game play. If you need to have two modes to appease everyone then that’s fine. Have a slow and fast play mode. In the slow mode we should have every presentation cut scenes and where the catcher throws the ball back to the pitcher on every pitch and the pitcher has to wait for the batter to get setup in the batters box, and while the batter is setting up for the next pitch have a cut scene or two of crowds or players on the field then cut back to pitcher and batter like in real baseball. Mix it up alittle. In MLB 22 even in slow play when batting, I didn’t have time to think what I was gonna do in the batters box since the AI pitcher sets up quickly and throws his next pitch so quickly before I am even setup in the box. So Sony slow the f’ing game down. Have 2 modes if need be and no hybrid crap. Sony used to have the two modes in the game but they took it out.

              2. Broadcast announcer presentation in 22 started out good but again it got repetitive but I like the new commentators. They also have to implement a conversation system where they actually talk about stories as the game is being played and they stop mid conversation to address what’s happening on the field. Hell MLB 2k 11 had this system in place with the Krukster in the booth. That game still has the best broadcasting for a baseball game.

              3. Bring sounds of the show back to the next gen consoles.

I'll never understand graphics guy. Probably because I'm from the 16-bit SNES Era.

Animations could be MUCH smoother. There are still plenty of kinks there.

For me it would be two things:

                  1. Better graphics for new generation consoles.

                  2. Bring back season mode. Okay, I realize that this will probably never happen so I'd settle for the ability to have shorter seasons in franchise mode. As part of this I want the games against division rivals spread out over the season instead of having them all at the beginning of the schedule like it used to be when there was a season mode.

Last year I said I wouldn't but this year's game unless they included carry over saves in franchise mode. Then I bought the new game anyway.

I'll make the same statement again. The ability to have expanded playoffs in next year's game isn't that big of a deal for me.

Franchise is basically Season mode. No dynamic storylines. No rotating schedule. There's no heartbeat or pulse.

I would prefer just to manage a 40-man, as opposed to 3 levels.

Can't you just automate that? I do 30 team control, and for 29 of those teams I'm not touching anything in the Minor Leagues. The CPU handles that.

I assume for your own team you would have to have injuries off for the year. otherwise you would have to bring someone up when you have an injury and then manage those rosters. CPU manages rosters for its 29 team but also brings people up and down as needed.

You can set the CPU to handle who gets called up too. I control all 30 teams in my franchise, I just have it set so that I only handle call ups (or anything at the Minor League level) for the one team. Could easily set it so that I don't handle it for any team though.

One feature that I forgot to mention that would absolutely get me to buy MLBTS 23 is full World Baseball Classic integration. Since its happening this year now would be the perfect time. Have a full WBC tournament mode (similar to Postseason Mode, but with the correct format) with its own presentation package and even some of the international venues. The real uniforms of the participating countries with rosters as accurate as possible using the MLB and MiLB players already in the game, and the ability to edit the remaining players would be great. Even being able to choose those teams in Play Now.

Even better would be if the game could eventually be like the FIFA or NHL games where they have the license to use some of the most prominent foreign leagues like NPB (Japan), KBO (Korea), LMB (Mexico), ABL (Australia), etc. And then you could incorporate them into franchise by allowing you to scout and sign players from those leagues.
