Totally agree, a poor design choice that wasn’t necessary at all IMOComment

Hope so, bro. Just trying to lay out some concerns for them to see. This clutch significance has to come from somewhere. Just hoping it’s not across the board.Comment

Not a fan of the beta so far. Hit variety has been nice but bat sounds have been terrible using same setup(PlayStation wireless headset). On my end previous years sound so much better. Perfect perfect sounds like good on previous games and good and less contact sounds like weak on previous games.
I don’t like all that advance stuff on the screen now either. The fun factor just seems off for me as opposed to previous versions this gen.Comment

I use pitcher zoom camera angle every year, this camera zoom seems a little more zoomed than last year, but I'm not 100% positive it isOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

crack of the bat definitely needs a little more crack to it
EDIT: and the rosters are a part of that Work In Progress, Dalton Guthrie still needs his 2022 stats addedLast edited by Caulfield; 02-18-2023, 11:22 AM.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Always been auto field/manual throw. Trying out manual field/auto throw for a change….like it.
Strike outs…..I’m on AS (normal for me). Striking out far too many batters (I’m using my pitchers like it’s spring training). 13 Astros thru 7 in my game right now. Every game in double digits.Comment

I smoked a no doubt double into the gap a few minutes ago and it sounded like I barely tapped the ball. It’s really starting to feel like they phoned this one in.Comment

After a few more games, I'm going to walk back my comments in regards to clutch. I'm not saying that its not overpowered and perfect as is, but I'm also not saying that its as arcadey/easy/gimmicky as I was thinking the other day.
Its hard to get a gauge on it using the tech test because in the options explorer some of the attributes of players are inflated and when playing in DD to use lower level guys, the test is locked on competitive gameplay style, so I can't play true to my style of play in the tech test to really get a feel for just how this is working and influencing the gameplay and stats turned out.
Aside from this and the bat sounds being hit or miss, haha, the tech test plays a damn good game of baseball.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I think the divergence on whether we like the bat sounds is because it sounds different than last year, and more like wood on baseball, but it sounds kinda weak. So, good that is sounds more like bat on ball, maybe bad that it doesn't sound like a nice solid crack.
With Clutch, have you guys been paying attention to the hitter's L/R rating? A lot of those Astros players are going to have high contact L/R anyway. My concern is guys with, say, 30 contact L but 90 clutch hitting .280 against lefties with RISP. If they would've hit .220 but are now hitting .250 with RISP because of their high Clutch, fair enough. It's easier to hit with RISP anyway since the pitcher is more likely to pitch around you if first is open or come after you if not.
But if it's completely replacing Contact L/R, that's no good. They said Contact L/R would be weighted in.Comment

Originally posted by jcar0725I'm hearing various comments on the ball sounds off the bat, good and bad. I'm pretty sure this has been an early issue in past versions of the show that they eventually fixed.

For DD?
I looked and it was locked. Only saw where I could pick difficulty level

I checked a few cases to see real life cases of clutch on RISP splits.
By example, for 2022 F. Freeman :
Vs RHP = .338
Vs LHP = .294
With RISP = .391
Freeman is a good hitter on both sides so i tried to find who’s crunching one side but having trouble the other side.
I went with 2021 season for Harper.
Vs RHP = .333
Vs LHP = .257
With RISP = .330
So is Harper a clutch hitter or not ? Mmm….interesting. The stats I’m looking for is a splitted RISP average. I searched many sites from bbref, savant, fangraphs but can’t find split values for RISP. It would be a pretty good indicator if it makes sense to use clutch instead of R or L contact. If someone can find a site with that info…
So as Jolly mentioned, using a 90 clutch against lefties when the guy is a 30 contact hitter would generate really inflated RBI. Will be interesting to see full year simulation once game is released.
At this point, adding another slider for Clutch influence would have made everybody happy. 10 being clutch is used when RISP and 0 being clutch not used at all ( or minimal implication) with 5 being a mid-influence of both.
I’m suspecting this change is another DD pleasing change (like Discipline disconnected from check swings) and not a simulation stats one.Comment
