Re: MLB The Show 23 Gameplay Feature Premiere - Discuss Here

…..we’re getting excited about a new score bug and the literal rules of the sport being included in the game? And calling these “improvements”? What are we doing here. This game looks identical to MLB 16 both graphics and gameplay wise. Literally nothing difference whether they claim there’s hundreds of new animations or not.

For Christ sake how hard is it to update the grass and dirt at the VERY least? It blows my mind!!

I couldn’t be more frustrated with the lack of growth this game has had. I specifically bought a Ps5 to play NEXT GEN games with NEXT GEN graphics, yet the only game that serves that purpose is 2k. MLB might as well be a Ps3 game with updated rosters. Such a shame and disappointment.

I hate to keep harping on it but the fact that we are STILL waiting on better grass and dirt textures in the year of our lord 2023 is astounding to me. If I went back in time to 2015 and showed past me what MLBTS looks like 8 years later on a new console I think I'd laugh in my own face.

Watching the stream again, and I’m really intrigued about the hitting changes (vision, clutch, PCI, etc)

Really can’t wait to play tomorrow to see how this works, feels, and plays in game

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I’m happy that clutch is actually going to matter now. Or it seems like it’s going to anyway. I’m a little concerned with the strikeout rates going up though, as I feel like that had the potential to get out of hand. I personally never had any issues getting strikeouts, and I only had one or two of those 10 pitch at bats per game. So, I really hope every game doesn’t turn into a strikeout fest.

A lot of people asked and I’m surprised nobody had a reaction when they said the 8 Negro league players can be used on other modes.

This is a no for me. I'll wait for black Friday and get it for $20.

Literally the same game we have been playing for almost a decade. Until they stop supporting ps4 we will never get a true next generation version

I'm sorry but this game looks exactly the same as it has the last few years. People talk crap about Madden but this franchise has fallen into that same pattern of releasing the same game. I watched the fielding portion and the first two animations were the reach over the wall catch and a second baseman moving to his right and stopping. This game is getting so stale. Im glad some people can enjoy the small updates, but we really have to stop giving these developers a pass.

I'm kinda with the whole "wait til next year" crew. I've been playing the game for years and every year I see people say they're gonna wait til next year to implement something but they never do. Two years ago I saw multiple people saying it usually takes 2 years of a new console to see graphical improvements, but here we see two years later and I feel like I'm playing mlb '13. Seriously, the graphical upgrades are so miniscule it hurts.

But what's worse is that even the gameplay upgrades are only tweaks. Sure, the sweet part of the meter moves now. Nice. The scorebug changes every year. Nice. Pci is tweaked every year. Nice. At what point do we get tired of seeing the same tweaks year after year?

They always say you'll see hundreds of new animations but in the show '22 I saw maybe a few new animations from' 21. So why should we believe that anything different will be done this year?

The fact remains that this game has been the exact same game since the Ps3 days. Graphics have basically been the exact same. Gameplay has seen tweaks. Now we have negro leagues. DD gets revamped every year. I see very little rationale to charge $70 for things that absolutely could've been added into a patch. Graphics can't be patched. These things can. Color me absurdly disappointed.

If you have an Xbox and Game Pass then you essentially get it for free or depending on how you look at it, $16. If you don't use Game Pass for anything else, you could basically rent it for a month at that price and see what you think.

I have a Series X and usually buy the deluxe edition, but this year I will be opting for the free Game Pass edition since I don't need the extra DD stuff and I can play the tech test up until the standard edition comes out if that's how it works again this year.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still excited. But WWE 2K comes out the week before and I'll spend my money on that instead of both.

This is what you get when there is no competition. SDS is catching up to EA/MADDEN as far as neglect of core franchise mode. All the gameplay features they discussed are geared toward DD and competitive mode and not franchise. They also didn’t make any improvements to sim mode so we all need to keep our expectations low for the franchise feature premier. Guarantee it will be 90% for MTO and 10% real franchise.

Damn. I’ll still get it but paying $70 for an algorithm update is crap.

Is there any chance for a Road the the Show update ?

I was excited for Negro league stuff, but it’s annoying that they have new uniform models exclusively for that mode, when most players will be playing with contemporary teams 99% of the time. That’s all I wanted. Uniforms look soo bad in comparison to new templates
