An added wrinkle to all of these tests. For some reason switching to analog hitting has gotten rid of all these issues.

When switching I’ve been crushing pitches on timing, directional, zone.

If your struggling with hitting and using buttons, try switching to analog flick see if it helps.

Zone definitely helps, but there are many people who are unable to use zone hitting, either for cognitive reasons or physical reasons.

The purpose of a strike zone is to say a ball is hittable. If a ball is only hittable 2 of 8 times when timed well then it is not hittable and should be a ball.

I have videos of this I reported to the show I just don’t know how to post them here

Yup, I get it was only adding a data point to the conversation.

I like timing/directional hitting and for the reasons you stated above think it's a great option. In my experience in past versions it doesn't seem to have the same hit variety that'd I'd expect that Zone does, so I've mostly stuck with Zone the past several years. For clarity I haven't played with timing/directional in this version.

Here's a test, I believe in the tests balls down in the zone were much harder to square up using batting practice. Have you tested it exclusively with hitters who's hot zones are down vs. hitters who have blue zones and hitters who are neutral in those same zones? I'm curious as to what if any tangible impact to hitting those have.

Had not tried that. Good point. Or it could be that I just suck on HOF. I bumped up to that level playing the beta on All star and raking everything. I probably did not get an accurate lead being we were all playing with Houston and Philly, who both have damn good offenses. I bumped sliders up on timing to seven last night for both me and the cpu. Only scored 2 runs but felt like I hit the ball better. I'll get them right.
So anyway Bk,when are you going to change your profile to Gatekeeper

Tried this didn't change anything for me.

The game is just not playable now. Majority of at bats end in weak grounder or fly balls. Something definitely changed with the patch.

Anyone know a way to roll off a patch? I'm on Xbox.

I use timing hitting as I don't enjoy pacing the PCI. I like ratings coming into play. Understand that means some pitches that are timed well won't be hit well.

Pre patch there were a lot of different hit types and would have cold and hot streaks. But there would be bloopers, line outs, fly balls, hard hit grounder and all manner of types of contact. Now it's pretty much a weak grounder or a fly ball.

Ratings do come in to play with Zone but I get what you’re saying.

I've had no issues with hitting during Diamond Dynasty. Some games I do well and other games I don't but now the last couple of days all of a sudden I can't hit anything. I'm striking out way more than I ever have in my life and when I do get good timing it's still a weakly hit ball. Even getting perfect/perfect timing rarely results in a hit these days cause the ball gets caught on the warning track or something. My only hope at winning a game is 1-0 in extra innings. I'm getting frustrated with this.

I play with timing hitting because I like things as simple as possible and I just ended up getting no-hit. I hit 2 groundouts that had good contact and then there was a hanging sinker that I hit with good timing and the ball was just a weak fly ball. I can't hit the ball hard anymore. Good timing, bad timing, it doesn't matter. When my player ratings are over 100 and I still can't hit the dang ball hard that's a load of crap and I'm getting extremely frustrating. I haven't even mentioned that this is on rookie and veteran difficulty levels. Hitting on this game in Diamond Dynasty has gone from being great to being absolutely broken and I'm not happy about it because I'm trying so hard to beat Team Affinity and now I can't because I can't hit and can't win any games and I just want to scream. Why in the heck can't the developers of this game ever leave anything alone? Stop breaking things that aren't broken!! Yes, I'm peeved!!!

True. Guess I should've said for PCI placement. I like to just time it up and understand that you're not on every pitch.

Hopefully they fix it. I went from playing multiple games a day to now I'm not playing it.

The game play was fun and dynamic and now it's not. When I went 0-4 in RTTS I could still have fun battling at bats that I lost in different ways.

Now it's just fly balls and weak grounders.

It was going well for a good handful of games now back to the normal, swing and miss with good timing.

I got this on video and sent it to sds. It definitely is skill level related, at least fix it where good timed swings on balls low in the strike zone make contact. It’s weird that bad timed swings can make contact more often than good.

Fielding also got a lot better when the game first came out there were balls over outfielders heads, miss played balls.

Now the misplayed balls are all outs no more balls over heads, which I’m fine with. Though when you rope three line drives at a first baseman only for him to knock it down that dudes hand should be shattered

Right!! It's so frustrating to get good timing on a pitch that's a strike and to completely miss it and strikeout as a result.

I think you guys are paying a bit too much attention the swing timing. Not all locations in the zone are you going to want “good timing” I find that pitches on the inside I have much better success with if I am “early”. Same goes with pitches on the outside. If I am “slightly late” I get much better results then “good timing”. Swing feedback is a tool but it’s not the be all end all. As others have said just play ball and don’t get to sucked in by the swing feedback
