This definitely helps a little. Someone mentioned in the strike out thread that the pci shrinks on some breaking balls.

This actually hits the nail on the head for almost everything. If the pci shrinks that means anyone using timed or direction hitting are only able to hit off speed pitches in very very limited locations. Also makes it more difficult for people not perfect with zone.

Also explains the high cpu strike out rate as it happens to them as well.

The reason it’s more prevalent due to the patch is ai pitchers now also make zero to very few mistake pitches as opposed to pre patch so they are more often hitting spots which is out of the pci zone.

The game was likely initially made to play with mistake pitches making the shrunken pci less of an issue.

The two fixes are revert back to original pitching, or increase pci on breaking pitches.

You gotta keep some on for this, no strike zone and catcher pitch recommendations. Then you got baseball catcher flashes his glove pitcher tries to hit it

Re: Has something changed in hitting?

I'm not talking about any feedback or whether I get a hit or not.

It's the type of ball off bat results. If everything is a fly ball or weak grounder it's not fun.

This has nothing to do with timing feedback or on screen visuals.

I was hesitant but yes, something has changed from when game first came out.

Re: Has something changed in hitting?

The individual results are head scratchers. Can’t really offer much unless every gamer posts their difficulty, sliders, etc., etc.

I recently received a PM saying, and after that person praising that the game was back after this last patch, it appeared the game (without having another patch) had reverted back to a punchless game and was curious if I have I noticed this. Sent the CPU hitting results of my May games:

                  Here are my May scores:

5-6 loss CPU had 10 hits, 4 doubles, one triple
3-2 win CPU had 11 hits, 3 doubles
10-3 win CPU had 5 hits, 2 homers
6-4 win CPU had 1 double, 3 homers
4-3 win CPU had 6 hits, 1 double
                  3-6 loss CPU had 13 hits 1 double, 1 triple, 1 homer
                  4-10 loss cpu had 16 hits, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homers
3-4 loss cpu had 9 hits, 1 double, 1 homer
1-4 loss cpu had 6 hits, 2 doubles, 1 homer
6-1 win cpu had 7 hits, 2 doubles
6–0 win cpu had 5 hits all singles
12-14 loss cpu had 14 hits, 5 doubles, 5 homers

I play on AS pitching HOF hitting. NO SLIDER ADJUSTMENTS, clean screen, no K zone, hot/cold zones, pitch selections, feedback, classic pitching, timing hitting, auto field (although I have played and enjoyed manual fielding), manual throw, no bells/whistles, no pitch meters, throw meters, no sweet spots, no guess pitch.

Basically attributes driven, user control ability. I just throw this out there because many people have said it’s just too easy. It’s really not as the results are pretty darn good w/o the frustration of “perfect/perfect” complaints, continual slider hunting.

Maybe some who haven’t tried this can give it a whirl. Sure saves a lot of frustration.

                  Peace.

Fair enough. People are trying to help. The screen visuals certainly do effect gameplay and results, so let’s try something else. What level are you playing on…what type hitting mechanic, what sliders, etc…..it’s really difficult to try to give advice otherwise. One year a guy guy complained he couldn’t hit on legend, had always played on legend and refused to move down, so….

I use timing hitting and on all star. No slider adjustments.

Hmmm. Just don’t understand. In the past I hit on AS, had to move up to HOF. Don’t know what to offer. Have you at least tried moving down to VET? Sometimes I wish the hitting/pitching levels were just numbers like LEVEL 1, LEVEL 2, instead of VET/AS, etc.

I have not yet but I've been watching my 9 year old when he plays and he's on rookie and his hit types have changed dramatically as well.

It's a lot of weak grounder and fly balls.

I'm hesitant to drip past all star as the pitching just leaves a lot to be desired as far as sequencing and disguise.

But I'll give it a shot.

I feel like i'm playing small ball atm (Not that it's a bad thing). I honestly feel like they low key nerfed the power. I've had the same sliders and previously before the patch, I was hitting dingers. Not unreasonable amounts, but here and there. Now, i'm going on a stretch of 10 games without one.

Maybe it's just me, but I do feel something happened on the back end where they tweaked it a little. Does anyone have any insight on the patches to see if it may have affected the hitting at all?

I'm still not seeing any less HRs or offense in general than I did at release. Play on default All Star.
