Re: MLB the Show 24 The Mets
The current download roster of the Mets has no depth.
Even with the current signings the players still are not very good.
It is very hard to beat the CPU with the current Mets roster. The hitters don't have a lot of contact so it is hard to get a sustained offense.
Plus the most of your hits with the current roster will be singles. Not a lot of extras base hits.
The Mets on next year's game may not be very good.Mets Baseball, All Day Every Day

Yeah, we should be competitive with Philly and the Braves budget-wise in the Show 24. At least we're not stuck with Oakland's Show budget. Any Mets fan that is worried about what is in store with Show 24 needs to remember ''I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet.'' Well, the A's not only have no feet, they have no pants nor legs. I wholly expect to take away a playoff spot from Florida, Philadelphia or Atlanta with the Mets my first season in 24, one way or another.
Question. Do you play all of your games? I play all 162 in my season. I don't
sim mine. That was one reason why I made this thread. To see how others on the game use the Mets and play with them.
Winning with a team with lower batting contact is a true test of your manageral skill on MLB the Show. It is a true daily challenge.Comment

They actually have a half way decent bullpen with all the options that you now have available. Jorge Lopez in particular has some stuff with potential. Lopez has a 100 mph fastball and 95+ mph sinkerball. Tonkin has decent stuff too although I didn't have much success with him yet.
The Mets core of Nimmo-Marte-Lindor-Alonso-Mcneil-Alvarez is still SOLID.
I did my usual lineup with them and they provided offense like normal which surprised me because some of their ratings changed.
The weakness is that we have no bench and we need 2 quality starters.
If we can get Yamamoto and a couple of good defensive players with at least some speed this is a potential 100 win team on MLB the Show. In the real world we know it doesn't work out that way but in the video game world having 4-5 hitters and a lot of pitching options gives you a chance to be a really good team.
Not to mention if they can actually sign a extra bat that can hit which is going to make the lineup even better.
The core players can still bring it. They just have to fill in the holes.Comment

I just started a new Mets franchise. I am quite intrigued with all the young players now on the roster. Like Headcoach said they still have a pretty solid hitting core. Let’s see how this goes…Comment

I probably won't use him as my DH as much as I would a 4th outfielder tho. I want Yamamoto on my 24 Mets, but I'm not holding my breath on him coming to Citifield. I'm kind of hoping Rhys Hoskins will still be a free agent on the default 24 roster, I'd love to sign him and pencil him in as my DH.Comment

Re: MLB the Show 24 The Mets
This is actually a pretty solid core of a team but we are missing some key areas. We definitely need a couple more solid starters to really have a chance to actually make the playoffs in the The Show 24 and win. We are also missing production at 3rd base.
I love the Mets but I gotta be honest even if you played all 162 and made the playoffs you would never get past the Dodgers or Braves in a playoff series. They would chew the Mets up.
Without some major additions a playoff spot is most likely the ceiling for this team on next years game.
From what I am hearing we may not be going after another top flight starter. I hope that is not true
Your are going to have to sign some free agents next year on your own. I hate doing that because I like to stay as accurate as possible with the Mets but that is likely not going to work in 24.Last edited by HeadCoach2.0; 12-22-2023, 06:25 PM.Comment

Re: MLB the Show 24 The Mets
They are saving up the money for 2025. Still paying Scherzer and Verlander most of their contracts this year, so they will hold off on any big contracts until next winter when Soto and other more established players are available.
Until then it’s going to be a lot of collecting prospects and waiting for the right moves to happen or let the young kids develop.Comment

We are going to have a rough upcoming season with no true ace and such. But a lot of money comes off the books after this year and next year you got Soto, Burnes, Fried, Wheeler, and more on the marketMets Baseball, All Day Every Day

Re: MLB the Show 24 The Mets
If the Mets don't acquire a top quality starter I may have to pass on the Mets for 24.
The reason is this. I play all 162 and you have to deal with the CPU jobbing you. I don't have a problem with that because it makes the game fun to play.
But you are already under the gun as it is with the roster being bad and then you have CPU shenanigans on top of that.
I do not like to make multiple trades and signings to change any rosters. I like to stay as close as possible to the real team.
No need to even play 162 with this team I already know the result. I use the S&B Slider set and it is a VERY competitive set where the CPU batters are very dangerous and hit very well. With that set a playoff spot is the best I could do IF that. The Braves lineup has something like 4 or 5 players WITH AN ABOVE 90 RATING. No way could the Mets beat them in any playoff series.
I know from experience.
A couple of weeks ago I took the current rosters and tried to replay the 2023 playoffs but I added the Mets in as the last seed against the Brewers. I wanted to see how far I could get with the current team. I COULDNT DO ANYTHING AGAINST THE BREWERS IN THE PLAYOFFS. Pitching was fairly good to certain point but I just didn't have a strong enough lineup to get any consistent offense going. Not enough highly rated players to keep up with the playoff environment.Comment

I think of it as doing my own rebuild and seeing how it plays out in 2-3 years. Didn’t win the WS in 2023 or 2024 but advanced a round each year so this is the year I’m hoping to win or I may blow it up.Comment

Re: MLB the Show 24 The Mets
I don't think anyone wants to play for the Mets this season.
Every valuable free agent that they target signs somewhere else.
Giolito was a target and he just signed with the Red Sox.Comment

That is yet another name that we have been linked with.
With Martinez and Chapman we could hit with ANY team on the game.Comment

Originally posted by Ghost Of The YearGlad this year is now over and in the books. Looking for some good news this week on the FA front. Otherwise I may have to bring Daniel VogelBack in 24. After all, I probably got better production from him in 23 than the real Mets.
Quintana at his best is good for 5-6 good innings even when effective on the game. To be honest Senga is not really a true ace. He is good but he is not a true ace.
The lineup still has no production from DH or 3B. In order to have a chance on the game to beat the Braves or Dodgers we need those bats.
I hope Stearns can work some spring training roster magic.
