My only concern is that Manaea doesn't throw very fast. You would think that for such a big guy he would throw harder.

In this situation you have use his sinker like a regular fastball and mix in all his other pitches.

You have to stay low in the zone and throw and high and tight every now and then to keep the batter honest.

Hopefully Sony will relook at his 2023 Statcast numbers and bump that Sinker speed up to 94 MPH.


EDITED - He may not even be throwing a sinker anymore, he might be just going with a 4 seamer.

1 more edit - his changeup has picked up speed also, to 87 MPH, his slider to 84 MPH and his curveball to 80 MPH. It looks like the speeds in the screenshot grab were his pitch speeds in 2022. At least according to Statcast.

I will 100% be using the Mets in the new version when it comes out. It feels like a challenge to work with the team with the roster the way it is

If we get our City Connect jerseys in 2024. Then I am going to have to use the Mets. I have been waiting YEARS for those jerseys. I would not dream of missing out on them.

This is just going to have to be the year where I make a bunch of roster moves to add in some good players at DH and 3B.

I don't like to make a lot of roster moves. This year however it is going to be my own universe where I make the decisions.

I play all 162 Mets franchise using quick counts every year since 2012. I strive for everything to be as close to reality as possible. I wait until an accurate post opening day roster set comes out (mid/late April), then I start my franchise. I play about 4-6 weeks behind the real season. I update player ratings throughout the season to match the real life updates. I only do trades/signings etc that reflect what is actually happening in the Mets real season. Last year was rough using my Mets with the trade deadline sell off. As always, I am super excited for the new game to come out and continue my tradition!!

I usually start with all teams as they are in real life and as the season goes then I let my own world take over. But to start I will use Mets as intended.

The new look Mets are a tremendous defensive team. Especially in the outfield. Defense is so good you can literally subtract 1 one run per game from the opposition.
Best defensive Mets team I have ever seen in the game.

Marte could possibly be a solid DH and 4th outfielder.

One of the craziest games I have ever played. The previous game was only 2-0.

I have discovered the first significant problem with the Mets roster.

8 of Miami's 9 runs came of off two pitchers Quintana the starter and Severino coming in for long relief.

There is no way you can use Quintana as your second starter. NO WAY. He doesn't throw hard and he doesn't have a slider so you wind up having to go deep in counts to get the batters out. Don't me wrong he is effective but he fits in better as your 4th or 5th starter. He has to pitch lights out or else he will get hit at least somewhat.

As for Severino he might as well have been tossing softballs up there because he got absolutely rocked in relief. I was up 11-5 and they got within 11-9 before I put the game away.

I think I am going to sign Trevor Bauer as my second starter and give him a try. If he is in 24 then I think will sign him there. That is actually realistic.

The biggest problem with the team is the second starter. The team can STILL HIT regardless of the ratings changes.

I just added Bader in my Mets franchise, I went to check his number because the game was giving him Baty’s 22, I can’t believe they gave out deGrom’s number

And if Bauer isn't in 24, one of the following is bound to still be a free agent on the default roster and could possibly help shore up the rotation, for one season anyway: Blake Snell, Kershaw, Jordan Montgomery, Julio Urias, Greinke, Kluber, Mike Clevinger, Syndergaard, Bumgarner.

Bauer definitely won't be in 24 unless he's signed with a team. And even then, it wouldn't be at launch, it'd be a roster update after his season debut. Players who weren't on a roster the previous year aren't covered by the MLBPA licensing agreement and can't appear in the game.

The Mets starting pitching is HORRIBLE.

I just played a game and started Manea. He gave up 5 runs in the first inning. Unbelievable. He couldn't make it past the third inning.

Manea is just like Quintana. Neither one throws very hard or has a true out pitch. The rest of the rotation--Butto-Houser doesn't look much better.

Outside of Senga there is no one you can give the ball too KNOWING that they are going to give you a solid 5-6 innings.

They need MULTIPLE NEW STARTERS.

I play with a competitive slider set where the CPU really hits.

Horrible. It has me looking ahead MLB25 The Show, thinking of the possibility of potentially having Max Fried and/or Bieber/Buehler. But next year's free agent pitchers really doesn't look great. We're probably going to need a trade for someone like Dylan Cease or Zac Gallen.
