The Mets in the 24 game can be summed up like this.

    Fantasy Baseball vs Realistic Baseball.

In order to make them work you are going to have to turn them into a fantasy team where you sign 2 or 3 starters and make them competitive. Nothing wrong with that plenty of people play like that. I generally don't like doing that.

I guess it also depends on which slider set you use if any.

I use a slider set that PUNISHES pitching mistakes big time. If I use the Mets I have no choice but to get better pitching.

Manea even as a third starter is laughable. On the 2022 or 2023 Mets he might not even make the rotation on the game. His stuff is just not good enough. He has a sinker but no velocity behind it. Even as a lefty he is sub standard.

Butto only throws like 3 pitches period.

Even by MLB the Show standards the pitching is atrocious.

Manea is just like Quintana. Neither one throws very hard or has a true out pitch. The rest of the rotation--Butto-Houser doesn't look much better.

Outside of Senga there is no one you can give the ball too KNOWING that they are going to give you a solid 5-6 innings.

      They need MULTIPLE NEW STARTERS.

I play with a competitive slider set where the CPU really hits.
This is what will make it so much fun for season 1 in 24. Get through season 1 then you have a ton of starting arms on the market. Fried, Woodruff, Wheeler, Soto on the market

But really what fun would it be if say you dominated every game? Went like 120 -42 every year? This tram is great cause its a challenge. I see people playing franchise mode going 145-17 lol. I ignore them so I do not have to see any posts.

There is a big time challenge with the team in 24. And with the kids on the horizon. I think it will be a blast to stink for a year or struggle for that last wild card spot.

I fully expect Sony to add a slider to Butto's arsenal and most likely a sinker too. I don't use a slider set nearly as challenging, so it will be easier for me, though not as realistic. If I don't flip last year's 77-85 into like 85-77, something wrong.

I signed Trevor Bauer and I added David Peterson back in the rotation even though he is hurt. In my universe Peterson plays.

Those two moves right there change the outlook of the whole pitching staff. They are actually realistic too.

I am also thinking of adding Spencer Turnbull as a another signing. He has a decent pitch repertoire and is rated 75 so it is not a unrealistic signing.

When 24 comes I may make a trade for a ACTUAL ace but for now I am content with players in a certain range.

Shintaro a Met? If Shintaro has starters stamina, I'll probably let him eat some innings out of the bullpen and might even let him start a game or three. But if he has reliever stamina, I'll get less use from him. I prefer to shop around and build my own bullpen. Assembling my own 'pen is my way of putting my first stamp on any of my teams. Probably only Brooks Raley and Sugar Diaz are for certain locked in on my Mets.

Speaking of Diaz, I wish Sony would bring back Narco on the soundtrack one more year. That is one helluva piece entrance ear candy. Better than Sandman in my opinion. The way MLB23 had so many more songs on the soundtrack than ever before previously, if MLB24 has that many, surely they can get Timmy Trumpet back again.

I am going to have to restart my spring training franchise after all these moves.

This is no big deal because it is just spring training.

What excites me about Shintaro the most is that he throws smoke!!
As long as pitcher throws with high velocity you can make something out of him in the Show.

Diekman is also a very very good signing for the world of the show.

"Fujinami signed for $3.35 million plus up to $850,000 in incentives, according to a source, making him one of the four highest-paid arms in New York’s bullpen. The faith in Fujinami is based largely on the quality of his stuff; he was one of the hardest-throwing pitchers in baseball last season, topping out at 102.6 mph and throwing more triple-digit fastballs than all but eight pitchers."

NEW YORK -- The Mets are a couple steps closer to completing their bullpen, having reached one-year deals with right-hander Shintaro Fujinami and lefty Jake Diekman. The club announced Diekman's one-year contract, which includes a club option, on Tuesday but has not confirmed Fujinami's deal, which is for one year,

                  102.6 mph!

If this guy can be effective this can be a game changer for the entire franchise as far as the game goes.

I am going to download the latest roster and check him out.

I didn't know that he regularly throws pitches over 100 mph like that.

If he has high stamina then he can be used in a variety of situations from long reliever to set up man and he has enough gas to be a assistant closer to Diaz.

Check this out. Shintaro has a fifth pitch that is not in MLB the Show he has a sweeping curve. I edited him and added the pitch. His stamina was only 50 so I increased that to 60 because he was a starter. His stamina should honestly be higher than 60 but I didn't want to change him too much just yet.

This is a very good video on Shintaro and for pitching in general.

Yeah, the slider has kind of morphed into a sort of new sweeper for some pitchers the last couple years, I would like to see the Show get rid of the Vulcan change again (they removed it a few years ago, then reintroduced it after a year or two away). And then add this new sweeping slider to the mix. It's really a whole different pitch from the regular slider and sweeping curveball. As long as Shintaro can maintain at least a bare minimum 50 Stamina in MLB24, he can serve a huge purpose in my bullpen. If he falls somewhere down into the 30's Stamina, I'll probably use him as trade bait and be rid of him by the end of April.

He needs a lot of development. He can throw gas but has less control and consistency than Aroldis Chapman, he’s a project flier for NY - hoping for the best though, potential
Is there and it could be a genius move by Stearns, especially because last year was his first year in MLB and he began with the A’s.

Whenever I feel down about what the ratings are going to look like for the Mets in 24 next month, I scroll over to the un-Athletics roster and suddenly things don't seem so bad in Queens. I couldn't name one player on that ''team'' without looking at their roster first.

Rest assured they are bad at Oakland. I started a franchise with them……not really sure why but I am having fun and I like a challenge. Rebranded them to Vegas, I’m not very far in the regular season but spring training was the worst I have ever had, 4 wins I think but I was also looking for some kind of hidden gem, there wasn’t one. I haven’t made any roster moves yet. All the coaches except the farm director are low grade but are signed for numerous years. Not sure if I want to start there or just let it ride.

The Mets have to be a fantasy team for me this year.

I will keep the same relievers and position players but I have to sign or trade for some starting pitching or just make an edited roster or something.

                                This is ridiculous.

Max was right the Mets are throwing in the towel for 2024.
