Re: MLB THE SHOW 24 - RTTS BLOG AND TRAILER - WOMEN PAVE THEIR WAY
I don't play RTTS so my only feelings about this are simple:
Not one demographic asked for this or even brought it up. The franchise people didn't. The RTTS people didn't. The DD people didn't. No one. So why does this team continue to work on passion projects and then market them to seemingly no one instead of actually focusing on the things that their core consumer base asks for? I hate to say it, but why ignore the people buying your product year in and year out?
Simple....money. Greed. They're trying to market the product to a larger demographic in order to get more people into baseball. Larger demographic = more sales. The problem is they've made it clear they are happy with their product and in essence are ignoring the requests of their core clientele base.
You know what this usually means? Loss of sales. But it won't. Because there's no alternative. And they know it. Let's face it. We are no longer their focus. They can tweet what they want and say what they want. Actions speak louder than words. It was a good run. The times have changed.Last edited by invincible; 03-05-2024, 10:41 AM.Comment

Re: MLB THE SHOW 24 - RTTS BLOG AND TRAILER - WOMEN PAVE THEIR WAY
See that is what I would like to know. You nailed it, I want to know how many females actually play MLB the Show. You say a lot but where did you find those numbers? I would love to see it. Cause if its great for business it makes sense. But if the numbers are flat in that area then they are wasting resources on something when they could be improving other areas.Comment

I don’t actually know how many women already play The Show. There could only be two. But it makes clear business sense to try growing that number.Comment

Re: MLB THE SHOW 24 - RTTS BLOG AND TRAILER - WOMEN PAVE THEIR WAY
I’m not sure how to express my feelings on this. As with most things these days it feels like you have to walk a tight rope with your opinions. I in no way think the inclusion of women in this game is a bad thing. But, as others have said. It’s something that no one was asking for. Like the storylines. I’ll just say I think it feels forced just for the sake of inclusion. But, if it expands the audience of the game then that is a great thing. But, doing things just for the sake of inclusion can also backfire. I guess we will find out if either of those things happen sooner rather than later.Comment

Though I wouldn't be surprised if it was sold to higher ups as "broadening the audience". Anyone with a lick of sense knows it won't.
And for those asking about the numbers of females who play The Show. You know it's sub-1%. Don't lie to yourselves.
Everything.

I'm not sure if this needs to be said, but not being excited/interested in this mode does not make someone misogynistic. Doesn't mean I'm going to agree with every commenter on these threads who's critical of it, but this just doesn't really get me fired up to spend my money on the gameChicago Cubs

Re: MLB THE SHOW 24 - RTTS BLOG AND TRAILER - WOMEN PAVE THEIR WAY
I didn’t say they make up a big demographic for the game. I said they’re a big demographic, some of whom may already play, and that doing something like this can lead to more women playing the game.
I don’t actually know how many women already play The Show. There could only be two. But it makes clear business sense to try growing that number.
But I disagree with your last statement. If the number is low, especially if it is only 2, (I know that is merely an example number you gave.) then the time and effort should be going in ways to target your main base. And when there are legacy issues not being addressed that leads to frustration.Check out my updated 2017 blog on building a high school football video game:

Re: MLB THE SHOW 24 - RTTS BLOG AND TRAILER - WOMEN PAVE THEIR WAY
That members of this forum haven’t yet figured out that franchise die hards and simulation purists are not the core audience for this game and haven’t been for nearly a decade now is a genuine surprise. The core audience is where the numbers are and where sales are driven. It’s been ages since franchise mode did that for any sports series.
I wish franchise mode got a real overhaul, too, but I’ve accepted that it probably isn’t coming unless/until SDS makes a big deal of it early in the hype cycle.Comment

Re: MLB THE SHOW 24 - RTTS BLOG AND TRAILER - WOMEN PAVE THEIR WAY
1. This was probably very easy for them to implement into the game.
2. The legacy issues would still exist with, or without the addition of female baseball players being in the game.
3. If you don't want to play with a female ballplayer, don't play that mode. Simple.Comment
