Great. Now I'm going to feel like I'm supporting the intellectually and empathetically deprived by not buying the game.


I don't care if it has women or not. If they haven't added anything interesting to franchise, then I'm not buying it.

How many sales do you think adding a RTTS female actually gets? Truly? It won't make any monetary difference at all. Not many bought the game last year specifically for the Negro League addition, it was more of a "Cool mode, glad I tried it" rather than a must have.

If that were true, do you really think they'd be doubling down this hard on similar modes this year? No one but SDS/Sony/MLB know the demographics of this game, you really think they'd be dumb enough to put this many resources toward something they would presumably know only appeals to "1%" of players as you said? Just because something doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean that it doesn't have appeal to someone. And they wouldn't be doing it if they didn't believe there was money to be made from an untapped section of gamers.

The bottom line is if you are going to buy the game anyway, then they don't need to it market to you.

It's a nothing burger addition for me. I can only speak and comment to what I would want....not anyone else.

I always wait and see after release what was really done to get a true complete picture.

This is for RTTS and storylines.

If someone wants to create a female baseball player to use in franchise....hey it's their universe.

As long as something is not forced down anyones throats.....nothing burger.

People keep talking about marketing this, and marketing that.

What you’re failing to realize is, they know their core audience is going to buy the game no matter what. Even the ones saying they’re so unhappy with the marketing will buy the game. They know it, I know it and know it.

Then you have the DD crowd whom SDS knows will also buy the game no matter what. DD makes them so much money on a yearly basis it’s insane. They know they can market these niche features like storylines and women’s players because they’re trying to capture the section of the market they don’t have yet.

That guy in his late 30s and early 40s who loved the Yankees as a child, but has never played The Show because a run of the mill baseball game has never appealed to them. A little girl or grown woman who loves baseball and has always wanted to be in the game can now do that.

They’ve got their primary market cornered, this is just diversification and expanding their market 101. It’s really not that hard to understand.

They know the gameplay is great, and even those of us who have critiqued the marketing know the on the field product keeps us coming back. Offline players and DD players are the market that will keep coming back no matter what. Now they’re trying to scratch that casual itch and this is the way to do it.

Personally, I believe they’ve got something cooking for The Show 25 in the graphical department but as always it’s a wait and see game

Maybe some will. I used to buy day 1 from 2012-2019, and from 16-19 these were the MVP Editions. Last couple years I just wait til July or later and get the game at a deep discount.

22 & 23 I bought for sub-$15.
