Re: MLB THE SHOW 24 - RTTS BLOG AND TRAILER - WOMEN PAVE THEIR WAY

I think it’s a great addition. Hopefully we get more about RTTS in general on Thursday.

I really want to know more about this year’s presentation. I’m guessing a lot of info is going to be left for next week in the form of lots of blog drops?

For those claiming they are focusing on player numbers and catering to the majority: I'm currently working on the last few trophies I need for the 23 Plat and just noticed that only 2.3% of players even finished the Negro Leagues Storylines.

No woman players in the league but there are several women in the majors working in front offices, trainers probably analytics departments etc.

Like I said last year, I'm a shameless slut for new face scans. As long as the gameplay didn't take a step back, I'll buy like I always do.

That being said, I do wish they would fix the glaring issues in RTTS and Franchise first. However I understand why they would add in this feature now in order to continue to grow the base and get in a load of new potential customers. I just hope it means we’ll see meaningful upgrades in future years since they’ll need to keep their user base happy and fresh, both new and old.
Whatever girls are playing the game currently are still going to play the game regardless of this mode.

I am just wondering from a pure sales perspective of how this mode brings in NEW players. I just can't see many people saying "I have to play MLB the Show now" when they had 0 interest before. It's the same thing with storylines. Not many people are buying the game to play Derek Jeter storylines.

These are gimmick modes, you dabble maybe once or twice and it's over.

If you want to look at it that way, how does adding SOTS, Y2Y saves, or improving anything in Franchise outside of gameplay do any different? Remember, you said people who had ) interest in the Show before, I am not talking about people who maybe left due to these items being removed.

Also, let's not assume that adding women in the game cost us Franchise improvements when We've had the same legacy franchise issues, uniform physics, graphics, 2d dirt/grass etc for 6 or 7 years now.

What I think we may be missing out on is just the stagnation in SDS. Let's be real, they added that one lady in negro leagues. Im sure they were like "we added a woman model in the game.. lets now use this in another mode as another Feature headliner. "

I also don't believe something like fixing cpu bullpen logic , which is important to us, is a feature or improvement they would really "market. So lets hope we get thrown a bone.

would be cooler and more realistic if they had added woman coaches and managers, we had a woman manager in the Yankees system.

I'd rather play actual games in a league setting.
I tried the new Negro League mode in 23 and you know what I lasted about 1 hour at most.

                    You know why?

                    Because I hate Storylines mode!!!!!!!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be able to use all the Negro Players along with the Old ball Parks in exhibition mode for full 9 inning games!!!

Why O Why could SDS not allow us that option????????

Then you have the DD crowd whom SDS knows will also buy the game no matter what. DD makes them so much money on a yearly basis it’s insane. They know they can market these niche features like storylines and women’s players because they’re trying to capture the section of the market they don’t have yet.

That guy in his late 30s and early 40s who loved the Yankees as a child, but has never played The Show because a run of the mill baseball game has never appealed to them. A little girl or grown woman who loves baseball and has always wanted to be in the game can now do that.

They’ve got their primary market cornered, this is just diversification and expanding their market 101. It’s really not that hard to understand.

They know the gameplay is great, and even those of us who have critiqued the marketing know the on the field product keeps us coming back. Offline players and DD players are the market that will keep coming back no matter what. Now they’re trying to scratch that casual itch and this is the way to do it.

Personally, I believe they’ve got something cooking for The Show 25 in the graphical department but as always it’s a wait and see game

If I got a dollar everytime someone says that here I would be rich!! lol

Y2Y saves would give people incentive to upgrade to the new version while keeping their saves. That seems pretty significant and something geared towards getting more sales.

How would improving franchise get more sales? Maybe people who haven't bought it in a few years or are every other year guys would be more apt to upgrade on their favorite mode. Some did that last year with the scouting update. Same with gameplay.

Not sure Sounds of The Show is really making people buy or not buy the game, that would be silly.

I just don't see how storylines and RTTS but being a girl is going to bring more players in.

I like Home Run derby mode, but I play it a few times a year and I'm done. I might play a storyline or two of Jeter and be done, same with the Negro leagues.

None of these additions are moving the needle in terms of someone on the fence of buying.

Marketing 101 = you promote your new additions in an attempt to get The consumer to buy your product.

They marketed Storylines. They marketed negro leagues. They are now marketing women players in RTTS. You market things that have improvements. They haven't marketed gameplay. They haven't marketed graphics. They haven't marketed franchise. They haven't even marketed DD. Why? Because the improvements to those things are either non-existent or too inconsequential to move the needle. You can't market gameplay if it hasn't changed because you'll be met with resistance.

For those of you hoping for some last minute information about gameplay and franchise, think again. There simply isn't enough to market.

And for those of us hoping that they've already started focusing their efforts for next year's release on huge graphical and gameplay enhancements, don't hold your breath. If they did, they probably would've hinted at it. They haven't. They know they have your money already. The dream is over.

If the part, you wrote about Franchise, and such is true this is a very sad year for SDS. MLB the show is my favorite game but if they did not do anything to Franchise, Graphics, Etc. It's time to push for another game by another maker.
