Re: MLB THE SHOW 24 - RTTS BLOG AND TRAILER - WOMEN PAVE THEIR WAY
I don't care that they added woman or storyline modes.
But that's the big selling point of this years game, and who is buying into it?
Let's not kid ourselves and pretend that even 1% of players playing the show are female. I am sure there are some that are stoked at this addition. That's awesome, but none of these modes move the needle for sales. They are gimmick modes that are quickly forgotten about.
I have not seen this bad of marketing from a game in a long time. What are they thinking?Comment

Re: MLB THE SHOW 24 - RTTS BLOG AND TRAILER - WOMEN PAVE THEIR WAY
People keep talking about marketing this, and marketing that.
What you’re failing to realize is, they know their core audience is going to buy the game no matter what. Even the ones saying they’re so unhappy with the marketing will buy the game. They know it, I know it and know it.
Then you have the DD crowd whom SDS knows will also buy the game no matter what. DD makes them so much money on a yearly basis it’s insane. They know they can market these niche features like storylines and women’s players because they’re trying to capture the section of the market they don’t have yet.
That guy in his late 30s and early 40s who loved the Yankees as a child, but has never played The Show because a run of the mill baseball game has never appealed to them. A little girl or grown woman who loves baseball and has always wanted to be in the game can now do that.
They’ve got their primary market cornered, this is just diversification and expanding their market 101. It’s really not that hard to understand.
They know the gameplay is great, and even those of us who have critiqued the marketing know the on the field product keeps us coming back. Offline players and DD players are the market that will keep coming back no matter what. Now they’re trying to scratch that casual itch and this is the way to do it.
Personally, I believe they’ve got something cooking for The Show 25 in the graphical department but as always it’s a wait and see gameComment

And by funny, I mean sad.
If you want to play as a woman, cool. Do it.
If you want to play as a man, cool. Do it.
That's how simple this is.Comment

Re: MLB THE SHOW 24 - RTTS BLOG AND TRAILER - WOMEN PAVE THEIR WAY
I have no issue at all with SDS adding women to the game.
But when there are sooooooooo many way more important areas that need upgrading it just blows my F-ing mind as to why they are taking precious resources away from all the things that we have been begging for the last 5++ years!!!!!!
I hope this does not come off the wrong way because I am 100% not one of those types. But with 2 weeks to go before launch the only thing SDS seems to be bragging about is new negro league players and Women in baseball.
I am the only one here who finds this very very strange especially with 2 weeks before release?
Is there some kind of hidden agenda going on here?Last edited by tnixen; 03-05-2024, 01:01 PM.Comment

How many sales do you think adding a RTTS female actually gets? Truly? It won't make any monetary difference at all. Not many bought the game last year specifically for the Negro League addition, it was more of a "Cool mode, glad I tried it" rather than a must have.
I know people have said it on the boards and have caved over the years, but I truly am not buying this game for the first time since MLB 09. This is crazy.Comment

While it is obvious female players are the minority, probably by a large margin, you are just pulling that number out of thin air.Comment

The girls in gaming is growing, but throw a sports game into the mix? The numbers are going to be far less.
1% might actually be too much. Not even kidding. Do you think it could even be as high as 5%? We don't have raw numbers but it's really not hard to guesstimate on this one.Comment

Re: MLB THE SHOW 24 - RTTS BLOG AND TRAILER - WOMEN PAVE THEIR WAY
As for the addition, eh. I’ll give it a shot for something new but I’ve never, ever been able to get into a RTTS player for more than a season and I don’t see this being what changes that. But I’m all for more options in a game, and just because it’s not for me doesn’t mean it’s not for somebody else.Comment

Do you really want the devs in charge of player models and RTTS narratives to be pulled off and forced to implement core changes into Franchise?Comment

What I want is for MLB The Show to look like a F-ing PS5 game already!
I did not buy a $500 PS5 to continue to play what looks no more like then a PS4 version of the game with better frame rate!!!Last edited by tnixen; 03-05-2024, 03:33 PM.Comment
