Finally upgraded my PS4 to a PS5 this winter. From what I saw regarding the franchise 24 updates, I was extremely underwhelmed. Does franchise on PS5 play different than PS4 on MLB the show 23? Just thinking about upgrading to the PS5 version of the 23 game, and using the ability to create stadiums to relocate Oakland to Vegas and do a franchise storyline that way while I wait (and hope) for franchise upgrades in 2025

Reading the comments it seems a lot of us are like. Well its ok but we expected more. But we are all going to buy it right? So they will never do more when they are still selling it in boat loads

Let me toss this question out there to all of the "feature that allows you to play the game less" comments. If you are simulating lower-leverage situations (and playing out higher-leverage ones), and by doing this it allows you to go much deeper into a franchise than you otherwise would have if you were trying to play all 162 each year, are you really "playing the game less? "

That's where this feature is going to hit, and I'm sure it's exactly the devs' hope that it gets more people deeper into their franchises - while still assuming the amount of control over individual games that they want to have. It's not MTO because you retain full organizational control. And it's not critical situations because the focus of those is too narrow for most people to feel like what they do really matters in the long run.

And, make no mistake - for that vision to actually WORK, the roster management logic needs to be solid many years down the road if many more people will be seeing the later stages of a franchise.

At the risk of getting yelled at by weirdos, did they say if we can import female players into franchise mode? Having a female prospect could spice up a franchise for me. Otherwise I’ll probably stick with 23

No they didn’t.

My understanding is that female characters can only be created/used inside RTTS.

Aside from Toni Stone who is only playable in the Negro Leagues storyline

No it doesn’t. The modes are identical on both versions

Well yeah I’ll buy it because I collect video games, especially baseball games. I own just about every baseball video game created.

Now whether I start over again or continue playing my franchise in ‘23 is currently TBD

They are really dropping the ball on the franchise updates. MLB has the best trade deadline of any sport. There is a lot they could do to make the deadline more interactive and fun.

I watched Mills stream last night and he said he 100% knows they touch logic every year but if they mention that kind of stuff during a stream that's a huge problem because it means they didnt do anything else.

Zero interest in having to do 30-team control to fix everyone's bullpen + make sure teams aren't carrying 24-year old B level prospect on their bench to play one game a month.

Gotta wait til release to hear if these are still problems. The AI logic is objectively bad with roster management and bullpen decisions.

Pre-ordered last week and have no regrets.

Sure, I wish franchise got more love, but what's there will work for me. I never could find my groove with 23, so I need a fresh start.

During Mills stream and after the premiere, he received info from SDS that you will be able to use female characters in franchise mode. I didn’t hear all the details but it appears this will be an option.

Being able to start a Franchise with pre-existing injuries is an underrated feature. As long as it's implemented correctly.

Just watched the video. Instead of y2y saves returning we get a shallower mode for those who only want to play 3 innings and new menus.

Somebody convince me to abandon my franchise and buy this update.
