Yeah, I do like manual throw but fielding has to be auto so I feel the immersion as a pitcher having to depend on my teammates having my back. I just like manual throw because it keeps my mind engaged to what's going on outside of my main focus of the pitcher-batter battles. I would be truly impressed if Sony could patch in an option to turn off the eyesore blue circle under fielders when manual throwing. They give you the option to toggle off the throwing arrows if you manual throw, now if they will take it one step further, my defensive needs would be 99% complete.

And that blue circle. Every bug report I sent them last year also had an extra mention of the blue circle. So…..we can only surmise it’s a design issue. That some ‘players’ are to dumb to know whose got the ball after the player auto fields it. I actually asked them that in a recent bug report. Hopefully the person who made this decision read it……not that it’s going to make a difference.
My only real pet peeve with the game.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
Well would you be so kind as to give me one example of a player who has hair physics on Series S?
I have played several games with various teams including ones that were in the preview vids leading up to release (Toronto with Vladdy Guerrero for example) and have seen no moving hair at all. Zip. Zilch.
It’s also weird to me because I even double checked to make sure it’s the correct version since both X and S should be the same. Not sure if it’s a bug related to S or it’s powered down to match the lesser of memory on the system. Not sure why it should be missing though.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
It’s actually weird since I thought I first played it on my Series S and saw it. But I just checked since I had been playing on my Series X (which clearly had the hair physics) and for some reason it’s not showing up on the Series S. I checked Bichette and Vlad Jr. and it moved slightly when they were running, but nothing like what it does on the Series X.

And I know it's a rather minor thing and it's kinda stupid to worry about but it kinda bums me out not having it...especially after they made a point of focusing on it as being a new addition this time around and it actually looking like it adds to the immersion.
And like I said...it makes no sense seeing as every other game that has hair physics on Series X and PS5 has them on Series S. Almost comes across as a slap in the face because I and others didn't spend $500 on a damn console for playing games.
Every time I switch over to playing NBA 2K24 and see how beautiful it looks on my Series S it kinda saddens me. LMAO!Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
The Show 24, each iteration is like meeting up with a dear old friend; you take right up where you last left off, appreciating what made the friendship great with sprinkles of the new. I appreciate the many new enhancements the game has shown me so far and the team's efforts in improving upon an already beautiful game that we've come to cherish.
As per tradition, I tried out commentary but after a few games, I respectfully muted them so I could just be immersed in the sounds of the ballpark.
Each game I play is like a therapy session for me. I just love the mood this game puts me in.Comment

Had to "lift and separate" myself from the commentary as well. Man does it get old quickly.

On my Series S the hair is not moving at all...for any player.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
Game is still doing that garbage with the crowd where it just fluctuates all game long.
Last game was mostly empty for the first four innings or so but was somehow jam-packed for the late innings; current game was packed for the 1st but is now suddenly mostly-empty and it’s the top of third.
Trash is lame and broken.
Just give us a crowd-density option (six would be nice: empty, small, decent, nice, big & sold out) before the game and lose whatever these “dynamics” are.Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
After over 100 or so games played thus far, I'm disappointed that I had to abandon my franchise from '23 but am glad I did.
As an offline, play every pitch of franchise player, there isn't that one big addition/overhaul to this year's game, like the draft and scouting overhaul in '23, but there are so many little additions in franchise itself, in gameplay, and presentation that when put together, make '24 not only the most well rounded version of the game, but also the most engrossing.
On the field play has always been the backbone of this series and '24 is no different. With the improvements to fielding, the new stadium sounds, the stat pop-ups/overlays, and the changes to the lighting, the gameplay in '24 tells the story of my franchise more eloquently.
This in addition to the Prospect Promotional Incentive, the Top Prospects for the MLB, per team, and ranked by position, and the awards added to the player's cards, and franchise mode as a whole (gameplay/presentation/info) is starting to provide the depth that franchise players such as myself have been wanting, anticipating, expecting and deserving for years.
'24 may not have robust changes/additions that separate it from the past versions, but its distinctive enough to make it stand out from the crowd.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impressions Thread
Surprised that so many people use auto fielding. I always felt like I needed the challenge of managing the fielding and throwing, so I’m just surprised other people don’t feel the same way. Cool to see that we all play the game differently.Comment
