I NEVER try to steal on the first or second pitch. The CPU seems to slide step and/or throw over a lot on the first two pitches. I only steal on the 3rd pitch when the count is 2-0 or 0-2. I have never seen the CPU slide step on either of these counts. Pretty much a guaranteed steal every time with runners 75+ speed. The same goes for a 2-1 or 1-2 count, I don't think I have ever seen the CPU slide step, and they very rarely throw over.

Also, NEVER take the extra step off on first, it's unnecessary and just causes the CPU to throw over more often than not.

    Try it.
All of this is great advice. I'd add that sometimes you can get away with the extra step with a poor/slow base stealer, because the pitcher doesn't see them as much of a threat to run. But that doesn't really matter for the stat grinding, since you're not going to be trying to steal bags with those guys anyway.

For fast guys, just don't take the step - they definitely don't need it. If they get a good jump and don't get slide-stepped or pitched out on, they're going to take the bag regardless most of the time.

As for count, 2 strikes is my favorite to run on as well. Rarely 0-2 as it likes to throw a pitchout on that count pretty often. 1-2 and beyond I can take off anytime though, and not have to worry as much about the slide step - at that point the CPU is more focused on a good pitch to strike the hitter out.

As said above, the computer never slidesteps with either 2 ball or strike count, it's been an easy cheat steal for years now. Also, steal third. It's incredibly easy as you can take the extra step without fear of the computers deadly pickoffs, the computer doesn't ever slidestep with a runner on second either, then if you slide for the far corner of the bag the computer finds it almost impossible to tag you. They can only get you if you are miles short, which you can normally avoid if you just cheekily return to the bag if you get a truly awful jump.

You can double steal that way really easily to boost your steals or get steals with a specific slow runner (how I got my Griffey steals)

I just realized how ridiculous the Albert Belle mission is compared to the others. All the others have the stats you need with silver bronze and common. Then they all have the 350 hits and what not that you need with gold and diamond.

But not Belle, with Belle you need to do both of those missions with each corner outfield spot. So you need 40 hits and what not with left fielders and you need to do again for right fielders. Then you need to get 350 hits and what not with left fielders and then do it all over again for right fielders. Why the hell would they do that and make his so much harder?

My guess is that they did that because he's the second arc for Babe Ruth and they wanted to make that as difficult as possible for us. It hurts even more for someone like me who isn't even going for the Ruth card, so I have to spend a week of free time playing the CPU Rockies on Rookie to get 700 freaking hits just to get Belle. I picked a hell of a year to put together an all-time Indians team haha

The Ruth thing seems to be the popular answer. Just seems making Ruth require a third arc would be a better way of accomplishing that, but I guess that would have required some thought ahead of time, which they clearly lack.

My suspicion is that they never originally intended to have Musial as online only, but then changed their mind because they were struggling so badly to get players to play online, due to the game being awful online.

So as a result they had these extra RF position arc players that they'd put in the game from the start but now with no home. It also meant that RF's were essentially useless without a long mission to grind for like all the other positions. So they just tried to fudge it and stick the intended Musial missions into the Albert Belle program.

I wouldn't be remotely surprised if there was supposed to be a RF career arc for Dave Parker that would have contributed to the Musial immortal, as all the other new legends seem to have a much better showing than him. Maybe Reggie or Kaline as well. There seems to be a fair few huge RF's who they've not released proper versions of yet

              Just a guess though

Unlocked Ripken today. Not very close to anyone else at the moment. I need 250 more RF hits to get the diamond Belle. Need about 60 2B hits and 25 HR to get the diamond Alomar.

The moonshot event should be fun with Pujols, Griffey, and Ripken in the lineup. I'm hoping they'll have 4 Musial souvenirs available in it so I don't have to wait for the July season rewards to have him unlocked.

I had a friend say essentially the same thing to me over the 4th while we were discussing DD. It makes too much sense to not be the case.

Ive seem that people just start a game, get their swings in, and then quit just to knock off stats quickly for the missions. I’m finding this to not be very helpful. Mind you I can destroy the CPU on rookie in most games with double digit runs and a mass amount of hits but since I stacked the top of my line-up with SS to grind stats and tried the 1 inning quit thing I’ve managed just 7 hits with 3 DB in about 30 innings of work.

Yeah I really cant imagine it saves that much time. Its not like the CPU is putting up a fight on rookie. Plus got all the pitching missions. Plus I tend to take innings off and lose focus and then randomly put up a 12 spot when I realize Im only up 1-0 or something so it all evens out.

Also it means you miss out on the worlds worst pitcher, Chris Rusin, coming in in "relief" after you bomb the starter out after an inning or two. I love that man and his terrible sinkers

He was in left by the Crawford boxes...went to throw it to 3rd...he threw it wide straight into the stands near the Crawford boxes. Literally have never seen that happen. And it caused everyone to move up 2 bags, causing me to lose. I just about threw my PS4 out after that

I despise the fact that we can't save a bunch of different lineups in DD. Even 2K has this figured out, and they're awful compared to SDS. The ability to save different lineups is a MUST for a game like this. The amount of position or team-specific missions is incredible, and it makes no sense for us to have to create a lineup from scratch every time we want to switch from RS to a mission grind. Aside from my OCD need to finish the next major mission in front of me, the inability to switch between lineups is keeping me from playing RS more. PLEASE SDS MAKE THIS RIGHT.

On a happier note, I'm at 550 of the 700 hits needed for Albert Belle, and 391 of the 500 Ks needed for CC. Then it's on to the very tough decision...play RS for the rest of the month or continue to put it on hold to grind the Fingers and Alomar programs?
