To me, the grinds aren't that bad. At least they don't have AB or IP requirements. For the team epics, I usually have all the other stats done and still have half of the AB or IP to go. I think these will go fairly quickly.Comment

Some of these grinds are going to be brutal, absolutely brutal. At least the souvenir exchanges are only ridiculous instead of impossible. Some of the reward cards look pretty great, some look pretty terrible, particularly Alomar who I was really looking forward to.
With the position programs and souvenirs I've saved I reckon I'll be about 20-30% done in some already, the other 70% looks a bit tougher though...Comment

500 streikouts per arc is a lot though, more than even the 200 IP for each team epic. Same for hundreds of hits with each position. They are going to take a very, very long time.
My only real gripe though is the new Gwynn program is again, only available to be completed if you play online, so they continue to trample all over that "everything will be available to be completed offline" lie that they told pre-release.Comment

I'm just super bummed that I feel like I've grinded a ton already and now have to do even more. I guess I won't have a problem if someone's got a bunch of immortals cause damn they will have earned it
If they let us count the stats we've already got that would be ok. But now I gotta grind with a bunch of scrub cards too at each position? Ugh, just don't have the will to do it
Almost better to get the game around now than at releaseComment

Haven't calculated, but it will be a while. I got about a fourth of the hits done for the common, bronze, and silver mission in that game, but didn't get many XBH or HR, I'm thinking those will take some time.Comment

A little disappointed in the Robbie Alomar card only because power is so important this year. I'll still be going after him, but he's now last on the priority list. My focuses are going to be as follows:
1. Duke Snider (to get Griffey)
2 (tie). Albert Belle (been waiting a long time for this card) & CC Sabathia (perfect ace for my rotation and will be my only lefty)
4. Whichever reliever is tied to the Goose Gossage program
5. Whichever reliever is tied to the Billy Wagner program
6. Robbie Alomar
Outfield and my rotation are the weakest parts of my team right now, so that's where I'm starting. The Diamond Gossage will replace Diamond Lee Smith in my pen. The Diamond Wagner is already nasty, so I can live without the Immortal for a bit. My infield is stacked already with switch-hitters who field well, so Robbie has to take a back seat. Once I finish all of these programs in about 6 months, my Indians and Griffey squad should look like this:

Say what you will about SDS, but they put out a ton of content where even someone like me who is mostly only focusing on guys from one team has amazing options and can get it done for free. Had time for one game before bed, so I loaded my team up with all the first available versions of all the players and had a crack at doing all the single game missions. I lucked out and got CC pitching, so I managed to get both his and reliever Nen's done, along with 4 of the 20 K's needed for Fergie. on the hitting front I was surprised at how lucky I got as I managed to get 7 of the 8 missions done, only missing out on Larkin, who went a spectacular 0 for 6. I also had enough souvenirs to complete every exchange except Larkin, who I'm 2000 Reds points short. All in all, pretty pleased with the start. All those players to trade in though, woof.
It means I've unlocked the second version of Belle, who needs quite a grind (20XBH, including 10 HR's when he only has power v lefties) and Nen (actually looks a pretty usable card, unlike his comedy bad starting version).
Not really going to be able to do much tomorrow as the England game will be on after work, so no playing till probably 9-10pm at the earliest, but I'll play some conquest to try and grind out the Rollie starter and hopefully pick up Larkins in the process.
The long grinds though look incredibly daunting, too long to really aim for tbh so I think I'll just play normally and let them build naturally for a whileComment

I bet it's sooner for one of the hitters. Those grinds are generally more efficient because you can knock out stats in bulk, while the complete game and save requirements mean you need to complete a hilarious number of full games and/or 100+ conquest games. The annoying thing is, most of us would be most of the way to doing these grinds if they'd been there from the start, much like the team epics. Making us start over and get such huge amounts seem like the complete wrong way of doing it. Like someone said earlier, it would be a great time to buy the game now, as the rest of us have essentially been wasting our time up until this pointComment
