How's my progress on the Immortals?

Jackie Robinson: I have the 88 diamond and completed the mission. I don't think I'm going to rush for Robinson because the hats/jerseys are so expensive. He'll be one of the last Immortals I get.
Bob Gibson: I have his 85 diamond and it'll take a long time to get his mission completed. Not rushing for his program and the hat/jersey issue is evident. Too many stubs IMO
Mike Piazza: Definitely going to get Piazza's immortal. I have like 60% of his jerseys complete and I only need the 2nd career arc + 90% of the hats.
Albert Pujols: Just recently started Pujols and his 87 is pretty easy to get. I have the gold and am working on the 5% for 1B exchange. Haven't touched hats/jerseys yet. He'll be a 2nd tier immortal mission for me.
Cal Ripken: I have him at 80% and all I need to do is get working on his jerseys and whatever #2 career arc that comes.
Chipper Jones: He's a top priority for me and I'll be using the 5% team epic towards him to eliminate Jersey cost. I just need hats + the 2nd career arc.
Ken Griffey Jr.: Another top priority. I think I'm at 65% complete. I might just take the dive and knock out his jerseys and hats ASAP to get that 75% and 88 diamond.
Tom Seaver: I don't see myself finishing Morris any time soon so this one is going to wait.
Nolan Ryan: I still don't have the Diamond Ryan because I haven't invested in the hats/jerseys yet. I think I have a small % of each knocked out. Not in a rush for this.
Billy Wagner: I think I'm 80% done with Wagner, not sure if I need the hats or jerseys to wrap him up.
Goose Gossage: I only have 5/25 saves complete. Saves are tough this year because so many different players need saves.

First year with DD and really enjoy knocking out these missions...it's pretty rewarding.
Im right there with you, need innings with Morris and need to collect Utleys hats and ill be done with arcs. All done with the player programs. Good chunk of immortals done, only guys I havent worked on are Griffey and Robinson. Mostly waiting for other career arcs and exchange missions for those which will be a nightmare. Ill be completely done with Chipper if they ever put out the career arcs.

I know youre like super positive, but missions were way more rewarding in previous years. Plus there was stats missions which netted you insane stubs once you finished the stats, but those are gone thanks to kids boosting for everything and ruining it for everyone.

Been playing the CPU on Rookie to knock out the 8 CGs needed for the monthly missions and work on some player positional programs. Had a nice two-game run where I struck out 21 Dodgers with Gold Homer Bailey and then pitched a perfect game against the Padres with Gold Romero from the Twins (20 Ks). Those cards are pretty impressive.

I was neglecting the Bour, Kingery, Kendrick, Montero and Reynolds programs, so I'm working on those while I play these mind-numbing games. Should have the 8 CGs by Wednesday, and then it's time to jump full-time into RS to see how much I truly suck.

Re: What are you working on thread

Currently working on finalising the career arcs:

          - Hoffman, needs 13 more saves and about 30 more innings
          - Torre, just got his diamond. How on earth am I going to hit 15 doubles with this thing?!?!
          - Doby, just got his gold card so need to knock out the 15 hits. Almost completed the All star OF stats. Big thanks to Jim Edmonds who has been amazing.
          - Utley, finished his gold ages ago but haven't got his diamond as the jerseys and hats are just way too expensive for me.
          - Morris has about 30 innings to go. Pitched back to back CG shutouts for me last night. I like him.
          - Molitor. Have had his diamond for about 10 games and haven't been able to get the 3 runs & RBI yet.

All other career arcs are completed. All player programs completed with the exception of the new ones from earlier this week.

Would like to work towards the diamond Wagner because his silver rookie card felt awesome, but unfortunately I only have 7 left handed saves to date and need to focus my save opportunities towards Hoffman/Rosenthal etc. at the moment. Not enough saves to go around.

Pondering whether to do team epics for the Angels and Nationals just because I've pretty much completed their hitting stats because of Jim Edmonds and Ian Desmond being amazing for me. Also nearly complete the Cardinals pitching because of Lee Smith/Bob Gibson etc.

Also....to second the above comment, the BO Homer Bailey card has been awesome for me too.

This is my first year in MLB the show so I have nothing to compare to....but it's been fun. Collecting hats/jerseys etc. sucks though.

          Cheers

I have a few team epic stats done now, but I again just cant get myself to do all the souvenir exchanges to finish them off. Just another example of these stupid souvenir exchanges blatantly holding people back. Its hilarious that they tried to save face by saying they intented for them to help people. No you ****ing didnt.

Re: What are you working on thread

Been on the grind tonight (Aussie time) with some red wine and tunes. A few tidbits in my semi tipsy state:

              - finished Molitor, Montero and the all star OF stats for Doby in the same game. Great success.

              - kinda enjoying grinding some of this stuff but sometimes I wonder why. Cards like Edmonds and Desmond have been so unbelievably good for me I don't really want to get "upgrades" and move them out of my team. Edmonds in particular has been godly lately.

              - got my 50th catcher home run which got me diamond Piazza. He proceeded to hit a no doubt home run with his first at bat. Nice.

              - Have played about 20 games with diamond Torre and still no doubles. Decided to change from normal swing to power swing and his first at bat after that change he mashes a home run. Still no doubles.....

              - Diamond Hoffman just blew 2 saves for me.....hmmmm....

              - Diamond Morris has been my best SP so far. Until yesterday I didn't have a complete game in under 100 pitches. Today I did it 3 times with him, my best with 89 pitches.

Been fun....should prob get off the red wine and hit bed.

              Cheers

Ok...so using power swing to get Torre doubles doesn't seem to work. Just mashed another dong. Still no doubles.

I definitely know I'm a bit more positive. I will say at the same time I'll point out the flaws that I see.

I just find myself knocking out these arcs/missions pretty easily and I've found a few ways to knock out exchanges for as cheap as possible. I'm just in a good position with my team talent + stubs and I've enjoyed playing my games.

I hate BR though...mainly because all I want to do is go 12-0 and get Ernie Banks and that automatic 450k stub jackpot. Is that too much to ask for?

Love being able to knock out a bunch of missions at once. In one game this morning, I was able to finish Gold Bour, Gold Montero, Gold Reynolds, and get my 15th walk to complete the June hitting missions. Also logged my 6th complete game. Just two more to go to get to 90% on the June monthly mission. Then it's RS time!

Re: What are you working on thread

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but the Mejia 5 catcher hits in a game mission is actually really easy to complete vs the CPU. It does have to be catchers getting the hits, but it doesn't just have to be ONE catcher - You can stack the lineup with any catcher you can find and they will all count. Obviously you don't want to be in the field for that kind of situation, so make sure to play as the away team so you bat first.

I had a bit of a lucky streak when going for this mission, and got 5 straight hits to start the game - 3 of them homeruns. I quit out after the 5th hit (so I never saw the field defensively), and boom - mission done. The souvenir requirements are pretty small too, so that's about the easiest diamond I've ever acquired. He has a pretty good arm too.

Also just completed hats - Not sure if the Harper has a place in my lineup but at least I can freely exchange them to complete missions now (or sell new ones that I acquire, especially the silvers from dailies) without needing to hold them for a collection.

Got all career arcs done and as much as the immortals i can do without exchanging players or gear (I'm working on those ones very slowly). Working mainly on the Griffey stats, will i be able to reach BO Griffey without the player and gear exchanges being completed ?

Just been grinding out the Giants pitching for the epic on Hall of Fame with MadBum and Jeff (not going to even attempt his last name lol) , it's been enjoyable and a refreshing break from grinding on rookie. Only need 12 innings and 2 saves to get Will Clarke. Got that diamond Archer from the counter so I'm slowly attemptingthe Rays epic too but hitting with them sucks although Kiermier rakes for me.

Re: What are you working on thread

After barely touching the game for a couple of weeks, I started up again a few days ago hoping it would interest me again with the (pretty limited) new content. Knocked the player missions out in no real time, so now I'm at the point where I've completed all the player missions and all the position arcs except Hoffman, who I need another 25 innings with (innings and plate appearances are the worst kind of grind).

As for immortals, I decided to finish up Nolan Ryan by getting the hats required, then turned my sights on Goose as he is so much cheaper than all the others. Pirates gear is crazy cheap, like 25 stubs a hat, 250 stubs for a gold jersey.

After that it means I've done everything possible for Griffey, Ryan, Pujols and Gossage and I only need the jerseys for Piazza. The others I've done the missions and most of the player exchanges, but none of the incredibly expensive hat/jerseys exchanges (babe, Jackie, Gibson, Ripken, Chipper, Wagner and Seaver). Seaver and Wagner at least have a few teams to pick from so could be doable, but the others are one or two teams only and just insanely expensive. The only mission I've not completed is the Breakout Gibson one, but I'm only 2 CG away from that. (not that it matters as I'm never buying all that Cardinals gear)

Team epics I've done very little of as I "wasted" a lot of time playing before they were released and got bored by the time they came out. I've completed the Cardinals (pretty much just because Gibson) and I'm maybe 20 innings short on the Rays. other than that I'm close on a bunch of hitting ones but nowhere near any of the ridiculous pitching ones.

Badly running out of things to do tbh

Is the breakout the 88 overall? If it is you need to get the hats/jerseys/CF exchanges complete to unlock him. This is actually the very thing I'm currently working on and I'm hoping to unlock him today or tomorrow. I wish his card had a little more "pop" though. I'll still probably put him in my lineup just because it's Griffey.

Let's all hope they give us a new player arc on Friday so we can start knocking out an immortal. I'm assuming they'll slow roll them out so we'll get 1-2 career arcs at a time. I'm guessing Piazza and Seaver will be the first two immortals to have their missing career arcs posted. SDS will try to keep market price as high as they can on cards to encourage stub buying, IMO. Putting out immortals could essentially kill stub buying. But if the souvenir prices take off then you could see a stub increase.

I guess it could go either way.

200 innings is just such a killer amount. That's 23 full games which is ~12 hours of gaming time.

500 AB's is like 12-15 games. That is so much more reasonable. 125 IP sounds like such a better number...

Heck even 150 would be a huge advantage. But at this point they're married to 200 because people have already knocked it out on some teams.

I'm at 135 IP for MIL and like 110 IP for PHI. Those grinds are going to be the death of me and then I need to figure out two more to knock out. I already have some teams hitting completed but the pitching is just crazy.

Need that 5% for Chipper so I don't have to buy ATL uniforms

Yeah, I did my 5 team epics and I'm out after that. Between conquest and player epics and career arcs and immortal exchanges ... I'm good until the next set of career arcs come out.

Working towards Babe, Jackie, Griffey, Nolan, Gibson, Pujols. Still need to do exchanges on Babe, Jackie, and Pujols. The other ones I'm just waiting on the next career arc.

Also just sitting on spare souvenirs cause who knows which of these I'll need and which ones will become insanely overpriced (Like gold Phillies jerseys right now???)

And yeah I was wondering what yall saving your 5% exchange for? I figured I'd do it on Dodgers jerseys or hats. That's going to be crazy when it can be completed
