Re: What are you working on thread

I think the only DD I'll be playing from now on is the OS Supporters League I'm in. Think I'll take my 40K in Stubs and buy packs for fun.

Well, I went and did it. I started again on my wives account and have to say, if this is what the game had been like from the start then it would have been incredible. It's the endless repeating of things you'd already done that was the problem (and the souvenirs)

I'm using that starter Babe Ruth card and it is currently working towards about 7 different missions on it's own. That's the way grinding should be.

Get 10 saves with the IV Smith card? Fair enough, that's also getting me RH saves for Gossage, bronze/silver saves for Rollie, saves for the Angels team epic, righty saves for one of the position player programs, reliever strikeouts for a few other programs, etc etc etc. Do it like that and it's no grind, release "get 200 saves", after everyone has already done all that and it's just a monotonous grind

Re: What are you working on thread

My main focus now is obviously Belle since I'm working towards Ruth eventually. 1 of the 5 programs (Lind) is done, Cabrera (card unlock) and Joyce (completion) are cumulative missions that I'll get just through playing normally - i.e. on Legend vs the CPU. Nava (completion) and Trumbo (card unlock) are single game missions that I'll probably have to deal with on Rookie. That gets me to the Impact Vet Belle and I'll go from there. As before with Williams, I won't likely touch the exchanges until they're actually a barrier to my progress in the program. I've already amassed a fair bit of Indians, Orioles, and White Sox souvenirs just from my time spent playing the game so that's not going to be a huge issue stub-wise.

The Belle stat grind missions will probably just happen normally too, though I can speed them up somewhat by putting multiple LF or RF'ers in the lineup. The only mission where these will be a slight problem is the RF diamond or gold, because I only have the 83 Vlad that fits that category, and I can't really even play him until I get the position programs out of the way. Might have to buy a cheap gold or two off the market if progress on that moves too slowly (I have 22k stubs built up just from playing the game and completing programs).

As for my means of doing all this....I decided to play through Conquest again, which is where much of my progress towards Williams took place. This time, however, every game will be on Legend - I have the team to handle it now even though I'll absorb some losses. It's not Extreme (yet - you basically have to be perfect to be successful at that and my team isn't at that level), but the constant chance of Gold or better gives a pretty good incentive, plus the 10 pack waiting at the end, again (no, I'm not expecting miracles from that...lol). Conquest also pounds out the wins/holds/saves much faster than just playing the CPU normally, which lets me complete a few pitcher programs and the monthly/allstar missions a lot quicker.

Finally, Ruth...I've been sitting on 25% for quite a while now and could do his two pitcher card missions anytime, but there's just not much point since that alone won't get me to 50% and his next card. Belle completion is a big boost to that program however, and if I do finish him I could do those two missions and get his next card + the missions associated with it. But right now that's just on hold.

Still no real money spent. Still enjoying the game, and the mode.

Actually sitting on 46K right now and putting up all my expensive souvenirs and apparel up for sale. Gonna splurge on packs afterwards.

Re: What are you working on thread

I never dove head-long into the career arcs until this last batch but did have a good slew of the programs done....aside from the accursed catcher position (I now hate Salty and Hanigan). I did finish-up Hanley's arc last night and got the wins accrued for the Saberhagen program and got his gold card. Also 5 CGs away on the Sutton mission to get his diamond and within earshot of getting the Doby diamond (using ~35-40k stubs for the diamond McCutcheon has been a critical investment to get through that Doby mission).

With the new arcs, I am getting super-hooked. I got all of the exchanges done for all of them (with no added stubs spent or players above bronze traded-in). The only immortal I REALLY want is Griffey and the funny thing is that the guys I really like are the new arcs (Larkin, Thomas, Bench). I got lots to do on the Team Epics and Conquest too.

I'm not rushing to get things done, I am just going to kick-back and have fun with things. I really wish though that SDS would have "alternate" flashback teams for each franchise that you could play against the CPU (like taking the best cards from each franchise and forming a team to compete against instead of all of them being merely Live edition cards).
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Welcome to the squad 94 Duke Snider!!!!

First AB was a 3-run bomb...yea vs CPU on rookie lol

Excited to use him in the event...not going to grind for the Immortal Griffey...gonna let it come naturally.

What were his missions like to get to him and once you got him?

I'm assuming you have one last barrier unless you have some unfinished Griffey business

I'm going to have a crowded outfield when I get Snider. I'll have him, Immortal Griffey, Trout, and Kemp. Probably sometime next week (Which really means 3 days)

The gold card ones were pretty easy...like 30 H

The last mission "Silver Fox" sucks...due to the grind.

                  70 H - 30 XBH - 15 HR - 35 R - 50 RBI

I had 6 H 4 XBH 2 HR 5 R 7 RBI in my first game vs CPU with him. Just wanted to get one game with him to enjoy what I worked hard for. Looking forward to using him in ranked seasons.

That Snider one is less of a grind than the Thomas one that I'm doing now (80H 50XBH 30HR 50R 70RBI) which is good to know as that's who I'm going for next. I have just the diamond/gold stats to go for Snider. Does the diamond version have a one game mission as well?

Yea there's a one game mission of like 3 H 2 HR or something like that.

On a side note: just made WS! Record for this season is 30-14. Luckily matched up with a team I had a huge advantage over for the last win. Feels pretty damn good to make WS being this is my first year of DD.

Completed that George Brett mission in my third game with him second time around, I feel like some kind of king. Completely forgot about a lot of these missions and how painful they were, the Griffey 2B and a walk I'd completely forgotten about

The 25 Ripken doubles is my Achilles heel. I have 3 with him in 2 months. I hit more doubles with my pitcher. Nothing I do and no where I play is helping. It’s either a single, a weak ground out, or a HR with him.

The amount of silver/bronze/common stats and gold/diamond stats for Catchers is insane even with my line up full of catchers

I got the annoying center field stuff over with (sb, triples) just trying to slave through the rest

I might just keep restarting games as the away team and let only scherzer pitch. He gets through games sooo much faster than anyone else I have and gets at least 17 strikeouts each outing

I saw the BO babe mission involves pitching for 200 innings with just that card. So I have stopped caring about finishing Albert Belle (we'll see how long this lasts lol)

Decided to take a break from playing the CPU on rookie and jumped into the new event. Call me crazy but I think errors should be disabled in events and battle royal. I know they are a part of baseball but when 2 losses eliminate you losing because of something you can’t contto is infuriating. Tied 1-1 bottom of the 6th I have one out on my opponent. He hits a weak grounder to short but my first baseman can’t handle the baby toss and drops it so he’s safe. Next batter hits a perfect double play ball to first but my first baseman throws the ball into the outfield gap sending it to the wall and he comes home to score the winning run. Done with the event and back to grinding....
