Beat 3rd Inning Showdown. Had Kyle Wright as the final boss and it is on All Star but went in with 10 runs and Ozzie Albies hit a 3 run walk off HR!

      Re: Showdown Thread

Just started attempting NL stage 2 last night. Started out good, completed all 3 moments and first mini boss easily. Picked it back up tonight just after the first mini boss.

Fail every moment with the exception of the second mini boss. Down 15 - 4 with 1 moment left I just decided to skip the last moment with the way I'm playing those 2 runs won't matter anyway.

Won the final showdown 17-15 with 6 outs left.

It's crazy how you feel like one minute you have no idea what you're doing at the plate then all of sudden you see every pitch perfectly and your timing is perfect.

Edit: Sucks not being able to steal now. I know that they had to fix that as it was an obvious cheat but dang you can't even take a lead now without a throw over. It's like they have no clue how to find a happy medium.

Wow down 15-4 and you won? That’s pretty good. Who was your final boss?

I managed to finish the 3rd inning showdown on my first attempt. I had my doubts at times though. First when the game started and it took me a couple of batters to get used to the faster all-star pitch speeds after playing the moments leading up to that on veteran.

Then down 2 runs with the bases loaded and 5 outs remaining. I hit into a double play to tie the game. All I needed was a sacrifice fly!!! I struck out with Schwarber to make it runner on 3rd with only two outs remaining.

Didi Gregorious then saved it for me with a HR.

Finally got Graterol as a NL Stage 2 final boss. I can see why so many people were talking about him. 100 mph sinker is ridiculous.

First mission of inning 3 SHowdown, score 2 runs in 2 innings. Easy enough. Nope, get no hit with 2 perfect/perfect outs and 3 good/good outs. Nest mission is bases loaded score 4 runs, Chipper hits a perfect/perfect double play ball.

Tempted to just quit this run tbh, really doesn't feel like it's going to be my day!

Really starting to believe Showdown is determined more by the computer than it is the user. It's just so random.

I just lost the final in the Stage 2 AL Showdown to Clarke Schmidt and only got 2 hits the entire 20 outs. All of my perfect perfects were outs and I hit into a DP where the first baseman dove to get the ball, tagged first as he dove, then threw home to get the runner out. Cmon man.

                    Re: Showdown Thread

Obviously ended up losing that one to the first boss, due to usual shenanigans, but luckily the second time around it clearly wanted me to win so I managed it with 16 outs remaining, after winning 10/12 moments. Numerous won on the last swing of the game, on not always particularly good swings.

It really gets frustrating because it does seem so predetermined compared to how the game plays in other modes.

At this point I don't care about the stubs and XP from it I only want to beat the final boss to get the TA vouchers. I'm not good enough to go in 0-15 after the draft and win.

Showdowns seem to be a pain in the *** today. Done two NL and an AL one. Have lost just about every moment worth 2 runs. I either give up a solo homer in a moment where I cant give up a run/homer, or I just line out all day. I still won them but its been a very frustrating day. Especially the one where I grounded into 5 DP's, 3 of which were on perfect/perfect 105mph grounders.

When selecting pitchers for showdown go with guys who throw hard and have a high K/9. You know you'll need a few strikeouts.

High and inside FB's and low and away sliders usually do the trick.

Yeah I pitch like a robot in showdown. Fastball/sinker low and away, change up low and inside, slider breaking away and outside or in and inside. Recycle. Can count on one hand the number of homer runs I've given up and I have completed a massive number of showdowns. Stay out of the zone with 2 strikes the CPU will swing at complete garbage. Especially if you have the lead.

Lmao the first boss with Sutter almost made me jump out the ****ing window. Start with 2 runners on and get a ball dead center PCI that's a Good/Okay double play.

Ended up still beating it with 1 out left but not exactly my idea of a fun challenge. I can't buy stubs if I kill myself, SDS. Stop.

Wait is there only one mini boss in this? Alright I can handle that I guess but christ was it still frustrating as Hell.

My first run through this one, I made it all the way to the final boss but needed 7 runs to win. I got 6 and tied. I thought, "OK, that wasn't too bad...I'll get it again"

Haven't gotten past Sutter since....I suck bad enough with low pitches, he's like my arch-nemesis now, lol.
