Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition
New controller is a 1000x better.... Wonder if it had the jitters a little before I noticed it too. I'm on everythinf today and I feel like my pitching is better. Maybe that's why I was leaving so much in the middle of the plate in the first week.
On another note, seems like judge, ohtani, and degrom had a 15k dip today or so.
Think I may try to finish al west to get Wagner atleast in my pen. Tempted to sell wbc trout to finish collections since I can't use him in current event and live series trout I've been using at dh in current event.
I'm hitting like 600 with jazz, he's been crazy good and I'm typically terrible with him. Still cant hit anything with acuna and I'm hitting like 100 with Jeremy Pena but I need his defense at ss in the event.
Up to 15 wins but bummed Sheff isn't selling for too muchComment

Knocked out the egg hunt moments and a CPU game against the Orioles. Used Hunter in that game on Legend and ended up getting 2 in that one game. About halfway done with that program now.Read my OS articles: https://www.operationsports.com/author/corydell/Comment

Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition
I pulled Ketel WBC and WOW, does he rake. If I sold him, Yu WBC, and Betts, I still couldn't finish the NL. So ... why not use them all in Ranked?
I'm not sure how much I've improved year over year, but defaulting to the strike zone cam has absolutely helped a ton. I've been more than holding my own in events and might actually have a chance at getting that 12 win bonus for the first time. Giving me confidence for Ranked and BR, which the way they've laid things out, I may have time for. The 40-50K rewards aren't exactly motivating though thanks to 99-insanity.
I hope collections don't get more complicated. There are too many $$$ cards that are all about your pack luck. And 50K packs, at that.Comment

FINALLY got some pack luck from the bonus xp stuff. Got a silver and was bummed but it was a diamond duos pack or whatever and I got a live series ohtani. Quick sold for 136,222 cause that was better than if I actually sold with the tax.
Now back up to 208k and only need judge and degrom cards for Jeter basically . 4 games left and I'll be done with nationsComment

I pulled LS Othani last night as well. I also quick sold lol Instead of buying Mookie Betts and being 1 Arenado card away from Sosa... I used the stubs to buy Matthews and Justice for my Braves themed team lol.Comment

Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition
Got the Mini Seasons portion of the egg hunt done. Also discovered that I have massive stick drift in my Elite S2 controller and I'm not ripping this thing apart. Just ordered a PowerA since I've read a ton of reviews saying they're great with The Show.
The Elite controller makes pitching so much better. The regular Xbox controllers are terrible with Pinpoint and I can only hope that the PowerA works fine like everyone seems to be saying. It was only $30 so if it's not good, oh well. I really don't want to drop another $200 on an Elite controller. I've had this one for 2.5-3 years and I'm not sure if I'm into the idea of paying that again knowing that it'll crap out in a couple years. Then again, maybe that's a good timeframe for controllers like this - I don't know.
Gonna be light on playing time the next couple days. Need BR, Ranked and Event games to finish the egg hunt. Sheff's attributes make me less inclined to grind for him but might still end up playing the event. Once the new controller gets here, I'll test it out for a bit and hopefully jump into BR since they finally added a timer and it ends in like a week.Read my OS articles: https://www.operationsports.com/author/corydell/Comment

The wheel spins have been fantastic for me. I've got roughly 400k (or more) from these spins. Got the boss pack twice, got diamond duos pack and pulling the diamond twice. Plus all the base rounds of the WBC pack and selling the cards for 20-25k. I was able to finish the live collection super easy and laid back.
Having a blast legit just playing and not worrying so much like in years past as what I need to do, because you get it done by just playing.
Got the Easter Egg and April Program stuff done as well.
All in all having a blast..Twitch

Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition
Still plugging away at the newbie life - still trying to complete the WBC moments, have barely started the Team Affinity moments. Have 5 eggs now, but am avoiding online play as long as possible. Finished the beginner, WBC, and Jazz conquest maps. Starting on the East Team Affinity Conquest map now. Starting to skip the steal phase and head straight for stronghold assaults, even on Veteran I am usually able to win thanks to my pitching.
Completed Storylines to get a nice core for my DD team with Buck and his Buddies. My team is basically all the NR players except for Robe Foster, and the best of the WBC cards I've gotten so far.
Still struggling to hit even on Rookie with any consistency. Playing the PS4 on a relatively small TV (only one we have) in a very large room. My tendency to swing at bad pitches and get weak contact makes me want to throw the controller fairly often. Using button (Classic?) pitching and timing hitting. The learning curve is really high on this game, but I am still enjoying it.
Did get some pack luck - have pulled 3 diamonds (Including Aaron Judge) from regular packs so far. Trying not to get my enjoyment of opening packs pull me into misusing my stubs, which I generate painfully slowly due to the low difficulty level I have to play on. Would like to complete some live collections eventually, but for now my plan is to complete as many of the solo play options as I can so I don't waste stubs on duplicates that I would have pulled anyway. Going to have to play the really, really long game with this one. I have accepted that I will likely never get any of the online event reward cards.Comment

1. Make sure your TV is on "game mode". This is important for any console, but on a last gen console (please tell me you're on a PS4 Pro at least - I couldn't imagine the performance on an original PS4), you will desperately need it for hitting. Also, the in-game settings should have some sort of performance setting under the video options; make sure you're on the performance setting. Frame rates are vital for this game because milliseconds really matter for hit timing.
2. When you're a newbie, the content will feel fast and furious. Set your own plan. Don't haphazardly do stuff. Use conquest maps to complete missions when you have the cards to do so. A notepad/spreadsheet to jot down missions you are working on can be useful.
3. The Negro league cards are great; but bear in mind that if you're trying to work on Team Affinity, those cards will not accrue mission stats for any of the divisions.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment
