Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition

Up to 28 wins in event so should get the 30 for senga no problem.

My hitting is all over the place. Pci movement has been bad lately but timing isn't too off. Wondering if my controller is starting to go, it's not phantom moving yet.

After this event I'm hoping the next one we can use some good cards and not be too limited. I'd like work on p5'g some of my guys who I'm doing well with.

Prob gonna skip this br, don't care about getting albies from core so tempted to sell my remaining core cards but there's always a chance they release another core collection worth getting tho Idk who it would be at this point.

Given SDS' focus on 90s legends, it's a bit mind-blowing that they haven't done a 90s hitting captain.

I would LOVE for them to do even an abbreviated TA6 (sounds doubtful they will) that features two new team captains per franchise (which are a bit more juiced) with a TA 6 collection path featuring more "novel" captain cards.

I think a new core collection is very unlikely at this point. The fact that no new core BR cards were released this last program and given that is how they've been primarily releasing cores just makes me feel like they're done with that. Just bear in mind that Albies does unlock another level on the GOAT reward path (if that is something you care about).

yea i hate to say it but it does seem like it will just be all rewinds stuff and no TA but i would much rather than give us some TA for more stuff to do if it is the last big switch of content of the year..

What captain are you using currently? other than my Cardinals theme ... that arm accuracy is my favorite with the obscure players that can be on there

Also before the regular packs get filled up with worthless FAs due to roster turnover as the season progresses. And finally, before so many other diamond cards get added via programs/packs to reduce your probability of pulling any given live series diamond via packs.

It’s going to be tough, good luck!

Well I had some personal issues I've been dealing with and therefore I didn't play for several months. I also only recently learned to just buy the guys you need instead of hoping to find them in packs. That's why I don't have my live series finished yet.

I'm mainly playing franchise right now (almost through the 2026 season playing every game).

              BUT...when I am into DD...

Offensively, I mainly like the Clemente team and Short Kings team. I may check out the arm accuracy team too but I'm probably more inclined to toy with the era-specific theme teams.

I think pitching teams are basically restricted to the Tall Kings and 90s team. I want to give the Fingers long reliever team a chance - in three inning games, it could be intriguing...but not sure (I have a hunch it'll be overly loaded with postseason players which is a turn-off)

I don't have a great reason to use either though though and I am mainly muddling through just grinding some old programs. I'm hoping maybe we get a new mini season that encourages putting together a team like this.

As an aside, I know it is a weird to say as a fellow fan of an NL Central team but holy moly does a pure Pirates team look intriguing. The back-end relievers are meh but it's quite a fun grouping of players.

yea i believe it does say we are getting a new mini seasons for set 6 so here to hoping its team building included.

and yes i agree the Pirates, Orioles, and Dbacks are the other team specific teams that look fantastic especially offense wise , i believe the Cubs would be great also but theres a couple of cards locked behind that 12-0 in events that i dont havethe time to grind... but using a Cubs teams would hurt my sole

Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition

Checked out the arm accuracy theme team last night. The player pool isn't too bad, but it's almost too eclectic for my tastes (like it feels overly random if that makes sense). The fact it features an automatic out in Dookie does not help.

I also looked at the high-stamina RP theme team...OK...it's actually pretty intriguing. As expected, there were quite a few postseason series players who met the criteria, BUT, there were some solid Legend guys (Dibble, Henke, Sutter) that can get mixed-in. Given how little SPs matter for offline content (sadly), I could see this being a very effective team (especially for mini seasons runs - it could also be potentially useful for eligible events when 3 inning games are at-hand).

What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition

Completed my first Moment in the Extreme program today, via the Wagner 7 saves moment. Unlocked Piazza, so now I can add him to Wagner and Marte to finish grinding out the last PXP mission.

These moments are brutal. I can’t even make contact in the Griffey HR moment, and I can reliably hit exactly 1 HR with Piazza every time I try it. I’m not even bothering with the Cain mission. I do still want to eventually grind my way all the way to Griffey, but it’s going to be a LONG road. Working my way through the Extreme MS to earn some vouchers for now.

EDIT - Apparently, posting this was the key to beating the Piazza moment. No idea how I’m going to get past any of the other hitting moments, though.

well got to play a bit last night during that terrible football game and i played 2 games of ranked and lost both of them the first one i played with the Cards theme and lost in 10 innings 5-4 couldnt get a lot of things going hitting but pitching was great just hung a couple of pitches and then the 2nd game i used the arm accuracy team and just couldnt get things going everytime i got a hit it was followed up by a double play or somethinglike that .. i also wasnt patient at all at the plate something i really need to work on. i am up to 82 points in the program and should get that done by next thursday and my current record is 51-26 .. i feel like thats not a terrible record for me and i like that i have a pretty good record above .500..

oo i finally got Ozzie Albies and he was 3-4 in the 2nd game i love his swing

I've completed like 2 moments in the extreme program and I am at a place where I'll be able to complete the program if I just knock out the remaining missions I have (but franchise has taken my soul recently). I have not touched the Showdown or the Mini Season either.

I don't think you need to sweat the moments too much, they really aren't all that critical to completing the program. That repeatable 25k PXP is crucial....

I’m expecting the 25k PXP to be crucial as well, it just takes forever when I’m only playing on All Star difficulty and below. Once I get to 15 AS wins in the Miniseason, I’ll dial down to rookie to head towards those vouchers also. Then I’ll probably enrage myself by attempting the conquest once I’ve finished any other available programs.

I mean, I typically only play on All Star (never lower) and I just let the PXP come naturally as I play the game.

The boost from the Conquest though is key to completing the program (if you're skipping Moments/Showdown) and it's not that bad....the crucial thing with the Conquest map is to get through as many games (on HOF) on that first turn as you can (I played each game on Turn 1 until I hit a game on Legend). If you can do that with few losses and win the "steal fans" games on AS, you can pretty much roll through every other game on All Star without much difficulty (IIRC, I actually was done with all but the last stronghold on Turn 4, skipped Turn 5 to build up my "Army" to deal with the mass of fans for TB, and then knocked them out on AS on Turn 6).

Ehh, kind've sucks kyle tucker is behind the 12 win event reward. Not sure how much i'll use him with that snails pace speed but his card is pretty stacked otherwise. I had him as a propsect in my fantasy dynasty league so he's one of my favorite players but I'm generally always terrible with is cards. Makes durability team too.

Lee Smith should be pretty solid online.

Gerrit Cole??? I feel like we just got him and we're getting him back in like 5 days lol.

I did get kodai senga with 30 wins and i used him in a casual all star game and dominated my opponent who had a pretty good record. I lit up his luzardo and then he pretty much shut me down with kerry wood and he eventually quit in the 7th or so. I still kind've suck with my million dollar mike trout card.

I switched soto out with the more recent ketel marte card at DH and have been liking him. Honestly, looking forward to the new season where I can get corbin carroll/adley/mantle/chipper/elly/jram back in the mix.

Event is a little rough with the randy Donaldson gauntlet

I feel like I either play a guy that floats me meat balls down the middle, I hit a bomb and they quit.... Or I dot a Changeup off the plate outside by few inches that gets hit 430ft. Or these people that can routinely hit cutters and sliders a foot off the plate inside and their nuked 450 in the gap....doesnt make any sense these aren't pulled foul

Its very hard to get in a good rhythm these days online
