use the left stick to aim where the ball is when going through the zone. The right stick is optional, you use it to influence the ball a certain direction before the pitch (up for flyball, down for grounder, and left or right).

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
After some decent playing in spring training (season 1 of my RTTS) and decent numbers, I had a dysmal traggic start to my AA season. After the first 15 games I could only manage .147 with 2 RBI's.
After that I slowly but surely managed to crawl my way back to some decent numbers of .265, 25 RBI's 26 SB. Unfortunately though I can't hit HR...sigh. Not even in batting practice, my guy is so piss poor, I came close on a couple of occasions but were caught right in front of the wall.
My attributes is:
52 contact R
51 contact L
34 power R
32 power L
is these to low to hit it over the fence? Or is it the fact that I'm hitting like crap?San Francisco 49ers

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I really didn't even become a random homerun hitter until i was in the 50's for power. With power vs righties in the 70s(vs lefties is still like 56) now i am now a threat at least to hit 30 or so (until they start me for a full season i won't know). Of course the less your hitting in general the less than have a chance to be homered. I hit like .170 my first year because they stuck me at AAA so expect a slow climb. After some decent playing in spring training (season 1 of my RTTS) and decent numbers, I had a dysmal traggic start to my AA season. Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
It's getting real difficult now trying to balance having good starts, meeting my objectives and keeping my key stats up to date without declining. I keep getting yanked earlier than I should even though I'm either still pitching decent or even very effective. I don't know whats up with this manager and then add to that the off and on again play from the squad. Add to all of that the Iowa Cubs are like the Yankees in my division. Those guys hit and hit good.
I do know that I don't want to just divvy my points between my skills and objectives cause I have a feeling thats going to get me nowhere. I'm thinking I should go heavy on the skills thereby giving me more umph in actual games and then I can stay in longer and reach more in-game goals thereby getting even more points I can use to obtain objectives.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Wowzers. The closer for my team (I'm currently the setup man for my AA team) just had to go 19.2 innings in a 27 inning game because no one else was available. Also, the opposing closer had to go 18.0 innings in which he gave up 11 hits, 1 run, 0 bb, and 19 ks. My closer went 19.2 with 10 hits, 2 runs, 10 bb, and 9 k's. Some weird boxscore huh.MLB: New York Yankees

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Hey all,
Well after a weekend of moving, I was able to get a couple games in Sunday night.
Going into Season 2 with my LF within the Rockies organization. My contract ended so I will be in negotiations during the offseason.
I ended up getting an offer for 1.2 millioin, but for 3 years. I negotiated a 1 year contract for 420K. Not bad for only season 2 in MLB ranks. I'm competing for a Utility Role on the MLB team though. Not cool. I'm #1 LF in the organization, but am on the bench. The reason for the 1 year contract was to force a trade, hopefully!
Within the first few games I manage to do pretty well for only get a few at bats. I've already hit a HR that ended up being the lone Run for the game. I've batting .450 with 1 SO, 1 BB, 1 HR, & 1 SB. Although with this utility role I'm getting place all over the field. They even had me at 2B one time. What the hell is that!!! I've played 1B, 3B which is my 2nd position, LF, CF, and of course 2B like I mentioned earlier.
I'm still only in ST so we'll see what happens once the season starts. I'm doing too good to get sent down for everyday playing time, but hope I'm doing well enough to earn everyday time in MLB.PSN: guitarchitect7

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I'm in the third year with a catcher in the Pirates organization. Still yet to be called up, even though posting decent plate numbers (.275, 10, 50). Also, on the depth chart I'm shown as the #2 catcher in the organization, yet I'm only the AAA starter. I'm hoping once the summer months hit I can finagle a call-up.Yes, I've been here since 2003. No, I don't post much. I'm too busy playing the games.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Spent years 1st 3 years in the minors on crappy teams. Beginning of 4th year I was added to the 40-man and invited to ST. Did pretty decent in Spring, but was assigned as a AAA backup to start the year. Since I put IF as my second position even though I'm not the starter I still play most every day. Tore it up in AAA to start, hit .403 w/ 6 bombs through the first month....and then the call!
Up to the big club I went and have held my own so far. First AB was against Derek Lowe, and I nearly took his head off w/ a laser up the middle. Actually got a hit in my first 2 AB's. I'm a utility guy at the moment, but keeping my avg just above .300 and have hit a couple of HR's, hopefully soon I'll have the starting job over at 3B. Still trying to get out of the Marlins system.....no luck yet. I'll keep signing 1 year deals and requesting trades until they get tired of me and send me packing.
Most memorable moment so far, a 3 run walk off HR against K-Rod. It was a no doubter, cut-scene brilliance! I almost cried.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
because the management of your player in rtts is completely screwed. I got a minor injury that kept me out ONE week and I got knocked down from starter to utility player and I still havent gotten my job back two months later.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Oh man I'm in a bad slump. My average has dipped below .300 for the first time all year. I'm at .283. I'm just not seeing the ball well at all, I'm guessing, swinging at everything except the perfect pitches, and I am just getting damn frustrated. I'm still the everyday starter for the Pirates, and I did complete 2/3 of my last advancement goals, but I don't think the manager is going to be too happy if I don't get over half of my next ones, and I've got like 8 of them.
This little streak isn't helping me at all in the ROTY voting, either. I was 2nd, but now I'm 3rd. I think I'm going to play with my pitcher tomorrow, and then maybe, MAYBE later on in the night try and get something going with my hitter. Ugh I can't stand slumps.Comment
