Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Are there any sliders that limit your stats/attributes from declining as i'm riding the pine? I know that if you arne't playing, of course your attributes are going to decline naturally.. but not to the speed they are at right now.Twitter - WTF_OS

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Here is what I would recommend as a pitcher:I have the same exact question. For the last three months all the goals I had were around fielding and some bunting while I really want to improve my control and maybe even add a fourth pitch.
This was my biggest beef in last year's mode and that is these goals hold the mode back. I wish the goals were more like win two of three games or hold your ERA under 3.25 for the month.
*If you are a pitcher just starting in AA, don't worry about the advancement goals. If you don't do them, the least they will do is make you a long reliever. During this time, use your training points primarily on the H/9 and K/9 attributes. You may not care about how you get the people out, but being able to strike out batters will get you training points in the future. Also, I would highly recommend making 1 of your 3 pitch types a 4-seam fastball. Seems to be a good out pitch when you start playing.
*When you feel comfortable with your player, do the advancement goals. The key is you do not have to do them every session. It takes 3 CONSECUTIVE failed sessions of less than or equal to 50% in order to be demoted. If you fail 2 then complete the 3rd, then the 3-in-a-routine resets itself. During the first session, I suggest ignoring the advancement goals & stockpile the points, only using them for stablizing regression attributes. During the second session, stockpile them until the day before your advance. Check to see what goals you still need to accomplish and use your points on them goals (remember, just over 50%). Then use all your remaining points on H/9 & K/9, etc. If you notice that you can't achieve your goals by that time in second session, then go on to the 3rd and do the same thing. If you can't by the 3rd, you deserve to be demoted

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Started as a pitcher in the Astros system. Stayed there a year and a half, asked for a trade and got dealt to the Orioles, who brought me up to Triple-A for a bit, but then seemed fickle and so, after a year there asked for a trade and got sent to the Red Sox, who actually brought me to the majors for about a week and put me on the 40-man roster.
Then I got demoted and I was in Triple-A a few days, before the Padres made a trade to acquire me. Still in Triple-A as a reliever and hoping to make it through the year and get invited to ST next spring.FOFC-FBCB: Georgia Tech

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
How many years in are you? Both of my RTTS guys have gotten traded 1 time each, but now when I ask for trades I get told I am too valuable. My C is toiling away for the horrible Padres, I am going to ask for a trade at the deadline in year 4 of the majors for him so I might get lucky and get dealt before arbitration.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I started with a new guy, because after reading this thread I learned some of what I was doing wrong.
My new pitcher had a pretty good spring, I followed the instructions here on what to do with his stats and he had a really good year in AA, even though he was just a reliever and after my team won the AA title, I got called up to the majors as an 18-year old rookie.
So that's awesome, regardless of what happens. I just hope to get an invite to ST, because that's when you can earn valuable points without those annoying performance things.
Best part of the majors is the defense. Those guys don't choke like minor leaguers.FOFC-FBCB: Georgia Tech

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I asked the Pirates to trade me, and they also told me that I'm too much of a valuable asset to the team. I might actually have to wait until my contract expires to get away from there. How many years in are you? Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I took a break from my Boston Red Sox all star caliber first baseman and started a new career as a starting pitcher. I wanted to pattern him after the SDSU phenom Strasburg and make him a fireball thrower. Right now I have his 4 seam fastball up to 102 mph and I'm absolutely smoking batters - my last outing I struck out 11 in 8 innings.
I was drafted by the Mariners and after a month with their AA affiliate I was traded to the Marlins. I made the AA all star team as the starting pitcher. I lead the league in ERA 1.95 and have over a 100 K's at the halfway point.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
That seems unusual to me. With the pitcher I was using before I restarted, I was far from maxed on velocity (barely touched movement) and was hitting 97 regularly. How do you pitch 101mph with your pitcher in RTTS. I have full velocity and i still top at 95mph. BTW i am using Francisco Liriano's styleA screaming comes across the sky...Comment
