I just saw something really weird. Fired up my PS3, jumped in RTTS and when I took the mound, I was pitching from the catcher camera. Checked the setting; still couldn't changed it. Everything else, difficulty, etc. was set to default. Had me stumped. Then I realized what was going on. The controller I turned the PS3 on with was near dead, so I plugged it in to charge and grabbed my other one, which was now designated as controller 2 and thus, player 2. Still weird, but at least I know what was going on now. So I guess for you RTTS pitchers who would prefer to pitch from the catchers camera, you have a work around!

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I hope that in the future, they actually make the CPU for minor league teams strategize. Since the days of MVP 2004, I love playing minor league games, so it is a big part of the appeal of RTTS for me, but the games can get bland because the CPU doesn't strategize in the minors. They don't bunt, they don't steal, they don't hit and run, I haven't seen a pinch hitter or pinch runner (except for as an injury substitution), no defensive replacements (I don't get to see them on defense, but it would show up in the lineup). Every single batter just swings away. When I get to the Majors I see all that stuff, but never in the minors.A screaming comes across the sky...Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Stupid question, but I'm in the off season as a free agent (first baseman). Is there any way to view other teams lineups or rotations during the off season?
I'd like to see which team I'd fit best with (don't want to go where there is already a big time first baseman). I'd also like to look at rotations for teams who are offering me contracts, to see who has a the best chance of winning.Last edited by edm18; 06-07-2009, 06:03 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
So I started a RTTS with a starting pitcher. My guy is 6 feet tall and 162 pounds. I gave him a 4-Seam fastball, circle changeup, and cutter. So im a huge Yankees fan and I got drafted by the Orioles.
Oh well. Ill do my best. I signed a 4 year 120,000 dollar contract out of spring training. I finished my first season in AA for the Bowie Baysox. I was lights out all year.
38 Games Pitched, 15-4 Record (led league in wins), 1.58 ERA (led the league), 19 quality starts out of 24, 2 complete game shutouts, 4 holds when i was in the bullpen the first month, 165 strikeouts in 176.1 innings pitched. I ended up releiving in the All-Star game and threw 1 perfect inning. We went 2 tha playoffs but I was the 4th starter and we lost 3 straight games. Lol. So on 2 the next year.
I got bumped up to AAA Norfolk Tides 2 start tha season. My fastball now hovers around 97-101 mph, my circle changeup has gained a little movement and my cutter is now around 95-97 mph. i was 9-8 in my season in AAA with a 2.95 ERA, 146 strikeouts out of 170.2 innings pitched and 18 quality starts out of 29. We didnt end up making the playoffs and I just missed tha All-Star game but my player was the 3rd best pitcher in the organization by the end of the year so in my 3rd season I got called up 2 the Orioles which is were im at now. Will post my 1st season with the Orioles as soon as im done. It can get pretty frustrating being a starter but also really fun.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
My rookie starting pitcher for the Marlins. He was the starter for the all star game and as of early august leads the NL in ERA and strikeouts and is the leading Cy Young contender. I have his 4 seam fastball velocity to 99.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I just finished my 3rd season and 1st in the majors with the Orioles. I started off really strong with a complete game shutout in my first game and 7-4 after the 1st 2 months. The dog days of August and September caught up 2 me though and my pitcher wore at at tha end. I ended up making the All-Star team but didnt pitch. I finished the season 13-11 with a 3.42 ERA. 20 Quality starts out of 33. 2 complete games and 1 shutout. I had 167 ks in 208.0 innings pitched. I pitched terrible at home though so I cant wait 2 leave Baltimore. I was 2-6 at hoe and 11-5 away. I ended up winning the Gold Glove also in my first year so that was pretty cool. Starting my 4th season now and 2nd as the ace of the Orioles and my contract year. I hate facing American League East pitching. I faced both the Yankees and Red Sox 6 times in the last 2 months of the season which really hurt me.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I'm in my first year as a SP in the Reds organization in AA. Just started the All-Star game and went 3 inning with no runs and 2 hits. I noticed that some relief pitchers for other teams have 75-80 games pitched but the team has only played 70-75 games. Most relief pitchers have 50-60 games pitched with 50-70 innings. Just thought it was strange and wondering if anyone else noticed that.
Playing on All-Star 1.08 ERA 119 innings 101 Ks 22 walks 4 complete games 3 shutouts. 7 out of 16 pitchers. Hope to be in AAA soon.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
So ive posted about my pitcher on here. Im just wonderin if anyone has any opinion on what picthes for a starter are the best. I wanna add a new pitch. I already have a 99-101 mph 4-seamer. an 80 mph circle change and a 96-98 mph cutter. I was thinking either a 12-6 curve or possibly a running fastball 2 of set my cutter. any one have a pitch that they are most effective with?Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I have the exact same 3 pitches and just completed my 3rd year with the Cubbies. I love those 3 pitches but am also wondering which 4th pitch to pick up.So ive posted about my pitcher on here. Im just wonderin if anyone has any opinion on what picthes for a starter are the best. I wanna add a new pitch. I already have a 99-101 mph 4-seamer. an 80 mph circle change and a 96-98 mph cutter. I was thinking either a 12-6 curve or possibly a running fastball 2 of set my cutter. any one have a pitch that they are most effective with?
My thoughts:
Slider - a bit too similar to my cutter. Would normally be a great pitch against lefties (I'm a lefty) but hitters rarely chase my pitches off the plate so I'm not sure if it'll be effective.
Curve - biggest variety when compared to my other 3 pitches. My only experience with the curve was when I played in franchise briefly. It didn't seem too effective at the time but maybe I wasn't using it correctly. If you get a curve, you absolutely need to power up it's control and be able to keep it low before using it much. A hanging curve seems to get crushed.
Running FB - not sure how effective it would be with two other fastballs already. I know my RTTS hitter has problems with running FBs but that doesn't mean the computer hitters are the same.
2-seam FB/Sinker - similar to the Running FB, not sure how effective it would be although I would really like another groundball type pitch.
Screwball - this pitch also messes up my RTTS hitter but it's action is probably too similar to the circle change.
I think I'm leaning towards a curve of some type for my 4th pitch. It gives movement I don't have currently. I might play around with the 12-6, regular, sweeping, and slurve to see which I like better. I'll probably just go with a regular curve as I don't have a down-and-in pitch to use against righties (down-and-away from lefties).Last edited by Mekias; 06-09-2009, 09:19 PM.Comment
