Wow your losing I would think the CPU needs comeback to beat you. lol Anyway what sliders you using man? Those scores are great to see. I mean don't get me wrong I love the 1 run games but they were a little out of control its better as a treat.

Wow! Hats off to you! LOLI have read almost this entire thread, and I'm about to go give this a shot. I've had games where the CPU has comeback and it didn't feel right, like I would throw a BS pitch in the dirt, and it would somehow end up at the letters and subsequently in the seats, despite hitting the accuracy meter perfectly. I will report back with the results later on.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
ya i've had a great time with the game lately....
anyways my sliders are:
pitch speed 8/10
user:
contact, solid hits, and timing 0/10
power 3/10
cpu
contact 4/10
solid hits 6/10
timing 8/10
power 3/10
you're going to have to rework your cpu sliders with the CB ON mode....because before they didn't make a difference as they were overriden by the cpu boosts....IMO.Last edited by phillyfan23; 03-23-2009, 04:32 PM.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Whats the issue? It appears to be working by design where it is a sliding scale adding and dropping attributes for both the cpu and human player. It sounds like the human player is getting the better "add" in attributes and the cpu is getting the bigger "drop" resulting in more manageable games for the human player.
The comeback AI option was not designed to bring the cpu cavalry so to speak when turned on. With it ON they receive penalties with it OFF they are not getting those penalties. The title of the function could be a little misleading.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

jsut for the record, thats not how i feel and not what i see at all..
but heck, i know what u gonna say: "but ure an A's fan"

i just wanted to point out that the way u say i should never be getting blown out by the AI since they should be having a ratings drop once they get the big lead in the game...while this is how i felt when i had it set to OFF, meaning once the ai had a big lead they wouldnt increase on it, or i would always get back on that game..to sum it up:
for me OFF= only close games(very exciting, but not realisitc) while ON= all kinds of games(not so much exciting , but realisict to a tee)Last edited by brunnoce; 03-23-2009, 04:46 PM.---------------

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
I'm still in my Spring Training as the Braves. Working out the kinks, figuring out who gets the final roster spots. I play on Veteran (I know, I suck) and my current record is a lousy 5-13.
I am very aware of the Comeback issue many of you are facing. I've read nearly every single post on this thread. I don't know if the comeback AI affecting me, I've had a game where I won 13-4, the final two runs scored in the 9th, but I believe that is a result of me getting lazy with my pitches.
My terrible record could most likely be attributed to my poor batting avg as a team (.263). If you don't score runs, you don't win. I know I have plate discipline issues which I am working very hard on. Also, my ERA was in around 4.95, now it's around 4.02 or so, there is hope.
I enjoy how difficult the game is, and I like how rewarding it feels to win a close game in extras, or pitch a solid shut out. The excitement of this game is something I've never felt with any game before, and I've been playing for 21 years.
I am hoping my record shapes up because I don't want to start tweaking too many settings thus making the game too easy.
My point is, I think I need to get better before I change the comeback mode, but in the back of my mind... it may be an option in the future.
Also, thank you dearly to all the contributors here. Dave, Brunnoce, Knight, you guys are the true Sultans of Swat.
Sorry if you find this post irrelevant.Comment

going by the size of this thread there must be more than a few that think there's an issue with this option.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
thanks guys. My apologies for the mis-information.Actually there's a separate option for the CPU (which applies to 1-player games) and one for 2P (which applies to multiplayer games). Based on the descriptions there is no effect on the user in a 1-player vs. CPU game.
Since you can't check it at the moment, screenshots on the way....I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
If this were all true we would be seeing mostly close games because based on the score the otherside would keep coming back. CPU goes up then we have greater chance to match them, HUMAN goes up then CPU has greater chance to match them.Whats the issue? It appears to be working by design where it is a sliding scale adding and dropping attributes for both the cpu and human player. That is exactly what I see when the option is turned OFF. When it is turned ON I have blown out the CPU and been blown out. I get no hitting bonuses when I'm down. I am batting .260 with the Tigers in 6 games and I have a losing record. When the CPU goes up I do not get any type of hitting bonus.
So that's what I see personally. Doesn't prove/disprove anything per say, but it is what I see so that's why I continue to play with this option ON and enjoy this game more then I have enjoyed ANY video game period.
Bolds are there just to emphasize that I do not speak for all. I speak for what I have seen from over 100 games playing with this OFF to about 15 with it ON. That's not to mention the obvious difference that I see in the CPU's batting skill and how they behave.Last edited by davewins; 03-23-2009, 05:08 PM.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
It does work as it should on allstar. I've tried it many times. Comeback on in the allstar mode kills the game. With set to off it feels much more natural. So both you and Davewins have played 100 games? Sheeze, I wish I had that kind of time.
Anyway, I played another game on All-Star with comeback ON and here is how the scoring went:
3-0
3-4
3-7
5-7 Final
How did it feel? Well, I was cruising hitting my spots with Kelvim Escobar until I went up 3-0, then things fell apart. After Boston took the lead 7-3 all of a sudden I was back to cruising and getting strike outs in bunches. Only a few games in thus far but I'm pretty convinced comeback ON works as it's supposed on All-Star level (is not reversed.)Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
I am not here to disprove anything, just talking the concept behind the feature. The bolding is a little much, I am not a 2 year old. Keep feeling the need to defend like Custer's last stand. To be honest I do not care how you really play the game.If this were all true we would be seeing mostly close games because based on the score the otherside would keep coming back.
