Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
start a game, go to settings, than select game options, than press R2 so u go to the GLOBAL section, once ur there scroll down to the 4 or 5th option ...ull see the Ai comback Handicap option there.Once again, can someone please tell me where to find this option in Franchise mode. All of you seem to have found it, so can one of you please give us that haven't found it detailed directions. I've seen thise same question asked at least 5 times in this thread and no one has given the answer yet. Don't keep the secret to yourself, let us know where to find it too. I am about ready to sale this game, because I just seem to win. I win every once in a while, but last night for example. Year 3-4 into my franchise Rangers and Yankees in the ALDS. I'm up 1-0 with one out in the bottom of the 9th after Ben Sheets held the Yanks to 5 hits. Prince Fielder (A Yankee, really how many all-star 1B do they need) hits a chopper to 2nd. Ian Kinsler overthrows 1B, Fielder advances to 2nd. I bring in my closer Huston Street. 1st pitch Melky Cabrera two-run walk off homerun to left field. Okay, so I know this can happen, but not everytime I play. That happens pretty regularly in my franchise. Everytime I have a big lead or small lead late in the game my fielders start having errors, my pitchers can't find the plate. I'm tired of it. I need something to save this game for me. Someone please tell me where to find the comeback option in franchise mode.---------------

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Well ... no, it's a problem for a few types of players:
* People who just aren't very good, or don't really want a healthy challenge, and don't want to play a game that feels like punishment
* Sim-style franchise players who want their player stats to reflect actual game proceedings, not artificial CPU comebacks
* OK, fine, people who just want to win more :wink:Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Did you read my thread? You seem a little defensive. If you read the thread, you will find several people complaning about AI home runs they feel were "unfair," or inability to hit that they feel is "unfair."
I said there seem to be many who are unhappy that they are not winning enough. If you read all the posts, you will see that many (not you, but many others) take that approach. However, I also said that did not seem to be all that was going on.
Again, I find it quite odd that people were generally raving about this game four days ago (and many still are), yet reading this thread would make one think that the game is broken unless you turn this Comeback option on.[Insert clever, personally-relevant, or cutting-edge remark, data, link, or picture]Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Thank you for your refreshing candor. To the point.Well ... no, it's a problem for a few types of players:

* Sim-style franchise players who want their player stats to reflect actual game proceedings, not artificial CPU comebacks

I thought the solution to these problems was: find the right difficulty level, find the right options for gameplay, and find the right sliders.... to get the game you want.
My comeback wins.... priceless.
AI comeback wins ... unacceptable. (sarcasm alert)
I put Broxton in one time too many this week. He was tired. He gave up two in the ninth and I lost. I made a dumb decision and my team lost.
A couple games before, my Dodgers starter (can't remember his name) got shelled in the first inning. I was determined to make the 4-seamer work, even though I should have gone to other pitches. I made a dumb decision and my team lost.
Again, I realize many in this thread are complaining that they don't have the variety of games (I win by four or more, CPU wins by four or more) that they want to see. Then you play a few games on another setting, and decide this is the solution to your 'problem.' Report back in a couple of weeks. Play another 50 or 100 games, and see if you still feel the same way.Last edited by chuckm1961; 03-23-2009, 12:21 PM.[Insert clever, personally-relevant, or cutting-edge remark, data, link, or picture]Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
FWIW, I just played a game on Veteran with CPU Comeback set to "ON"...
Offensive outburst like I've never seen.
Cards(me) 9 15 0
Orioles 11 13 0
4 HR each team.
I'm not 'making anything of it' as its one game, just interesting that I haven't seen this kind of offensive outburst before this. I also allowed 7 runs in the 5th inning, which is pretty normal to be honest.
I'm not sure how you guys are interpreting the wording of the CPU Comeback Handicap thing...here is the description right from the game screen:
"When ON, this will give the CPU a small hitting bonus when it's losing, and a small hitting penalty when it's winning. The adjustment is bigger when there's a lead of 4 or more runs, and disabled when runners on base threaten the lead."
Seems pretty 'cut and dried' to me.Last edited by spitoon; 03-23-2009, 12:17 PM.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
I know this may be far fetched but has anyone considered that when sliders get tweaked they can turn the game sort of "off balanced" and tilt it towards one side. I have my sliders at All Star at default and am having great games.PSN: ckarlic

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
they have commented in other threads on this...
Comeback option off - there is no comeback logic
Comeback option on - comeback logic is turned on for both human and cpu when they are trailing. They are given attribute boosts.
Whether you agree with this or not, is up to the individual gamer, but I don't know what good its going to do for SCEA to keep repeating what they've already said. People are going to believe what they believe they are seeing.

Ok, I must be insane then. Along with everybody else here. I must be just seeing things.
Everybody is entitled to your opinion, however I do feel your opinion is slightly closed minded. Why don't you give it a shot?? If you don't like how it plays or want to play with it OFF then by all means. Enjoy the game. That's all that ultimatley matters.Comment

I'm happy to hear that this is working for the people who were experiencing "Comeback AI."
Personally, I don't believe it, but it's not my place to tell someone to not have fun. Good luck and enjoy!Too Old To Game Club

but in my case i can garatee its not about that...in my OFF season i was 16-12 with the A's and now in my ON season i am 4-5 , so u can see thats not about winning or losing.Last edited by brunnoce; 03-23-2009, 12:32 PM.---------------
