    Is there any new legends?

Is Stan or Dutch added to the first name database?

Why? I wouldn't feel sorry for you if the Sharks or the Giants started trading all their good players away:wink:

We are so set in stone regarding how teams should be placing players in their batting lineups that when the game puts someone like Todd Helton at leadoff, people freak out. The thing is, if you just look at their stats and ratings and COMPLETELY remove their names, then Helton as a leadoff hitter actually makes a good deal of sense. The SCEA guys have to code the game so that the CPU will make proper lineups in the many, many, MANY years after all/most of the players we know by name are no longer active players. So they have to code it so that when Joe Shababooboo is a regular major league player, he is placed in the right spot in the lineup.

As a result, we (the gaming community) have two options. Have the lineups be "right" for the first couple seasons when the rosters are filled with guy we all know, or have the lineups be potentially "off" for the first few seasons but have the logic be right for the other 9 or 10 seasons we play in our RttS or franchise careers.

Personally, I would rather have the right logic be in there for the many, many, MANY years that we don't have commonly known players in there.
Thanks for the info. From what you're saying it goes pretty much strictly on OBP. I kinda figured as such. Every baseball game seems to do this..even the mighty OOTP. I just wish they'd factor in some other stuff. I'd rather see a .350 OBP guy with good speed and stealing ability leading off than a .450 guy who can't get out of his own way on the base paths. I don't want to have a guy like Nick Johnson leading off just because he has a really high OBP.

I do see what you're saying though, about having to have the game make decisions for way down the line. Still, I wish they could program it a little better by giving weight to not only OBP, but also to things such as speed and stealing ability.

No...it does not do this at all.

              in order
              3. The CPU always looks for the best contact+power hitter for the #3 spot
              1. Speed is the biggest factor....add in contact...there is a tipping point where contact will outweigh speed
              2. The next best contact vs.
              4. The next best power hitter
              5. The next best power hitter
              6. The next best power+contact
              ...
              ...

They may have tweaked the logic for '10...but that's pretty much it right there.

Now we're getting somewhere! That's what I like to hear.

By the way..and sorry for all the questions..I'm only just getting a PS3 and am totally jacked for this game...but do guys have separate ratings for stealing and speed/baserunning? There are a lot of fast guys who are good baserunners that are not great base stealers. Then there are those guys who aren't incredibly fast but will swipe bases at a 14 out of 15 clip each year. They just know when to go.

I think would be interesting to see if the developers could look into shuffling the order and rotation for AI controlled teams during season play. Perhaps give managers ratings on how likely they are to shuffle their team. Have the AI move players that are slumping and streaking and calling up players at the end of season and sitting down vets when their team is out of the playoff picture.

I would love a mangers tendency screen.
Have the manager go 50-50 on ratings and stats for lineups/rotations
or be able to tip it to 0-100(all stats and performance)
                        or 100-0(all ratings)

That being said...I think Kolbe said that the CPU will be evaluating performance at a regular interval this year(they are trying to work in call ups that don't need an injury or trade).....and also for lineups.(this did happen last year)
I forget in the test(maybe Jim will remember)...but I think we put A-Rod in the minors and simmed to see what the CPU would do(with injuries off...). As everyone knows, unless there was an injury....A-Rod would stay in the minors until something happened.
Kolbe spoke of inserting some "evaluation" period....to see if they could alleviate that.
I know they shuffled the lineups when we moved him down.(to put Tex in the 3 hole)....
I'm sorry...I can't remember what happened as far as minor league/major league movement with that....(and perhaps Kolbe told me they were still working on it)

That would be really cool. You would also have a good idea of what your manager is looking for in RTTS

That's a great idea. Would like to have varying manager strategies like that.

I wonder if they also make Bochy rating too... 0-100 (Prefers to start players 3.000 > years of service regardless of rating if possible.) or 100-0 (Prefers to start players 3.000 < years of service regardless of rating if possible).

That second is all in jest.

Same here, I had trouble dealing with Zambrano in AAA in my first season of RTTS. :very, very, sad

I amended such major leaguers being in the minors as "rehabs" in my RTTS thread, but hopefully they made some adjustments for that, that way guys like Josh Hamilton aren't in AAA winning home run titles while the Rangers CF'er continues to hit .200 for the season.
