according to bcruise(a Cubs fan who attended the event), the Cubs schedule looks good. In other words, nothing jumped out at him as being wrong with it.

Not sure about the West Coast teams though.

dont think ive seen this talked about, but it was a pretty major problem last year. Has the low breaking balls that get by the catcher just because you are up on the count been toned down or fixed? I realize it was there to discourage throwing purpose bAlls as a risk/reward BUT when a pitcher is up 0-2 or 1-2 the catcher will CALL for the pitch in the dirt so hes ready to at least block it and keep it in front of him.

Just seemed the ball went to the backstop a bit too often for major league catchers who are expecting it.

A couple of things....while I don't agree that it was a "major" problem....and certainly wasn't a forced or scripted event like you allude to....it did happen.
However.....all of us at CD....saw very little of it happening like '09..

"Major" may be too harsh a word...but there were far, far, far too many wild pitches/passed balls in '09.

Ok after doing some reserach I figured out why the championship banners at progressive field are in left field and insted of in the right field stands in MLB 10 The Show. It's because of advertising if you look at a photo of progressive field their are advertising signs for progressive , verizon wireless , bud light and the cleveland cleveland clinic and I think thats one of the reasons that the the championship banners at progressive field are in left field and insted of in the right field stands in MLB 10 The Show. I could be wrong though.

I would agree that there were too many passed balls in 09. Majority of them ricocheted off the shin guard with great force looking like a batted ball in some instances. This has been addressed in 10 as I also mentioned it in the impressions thread. Balls that do get by seem more realistic and it seams the catcher has a better ability to keep the ball in front of him. With a catcher being on the cover this year this aspect of the game really got worked over.

It is also possible Knight did not see it as much with MOM games.

Can't be that hard, the old high heat series had it. You could pause the game and do whatever you needed to do between pitches but no need to push a button 250 times a game. One reason people play manage mode is so they don't have to mash buttons.

Thanks for the helpful advice. I hope that isn't the attitude of the SCEA team regarding manage mode users but I'm getting an uneasy feeling.

I'm not going to search 260+ pages of this thread to see what others have opined as to the solution to this problem, but from what I've seen if you avoid the auto button and set rosters yourself you should be ok. For example, if a player comes off the disable list it gives you the option of letting the computer putting him back in the lineup or doing it yourself. Never let the cpu have anything to do with your roster and you will be fine.

That's just my experience, others may have a better answer.

Oh...Knight saw it....I just don't consider it a "major" problem.
Plus....I always increase the catchers block rating so I did see less than others.

If you liked MoM in '09...you'll like it in '10. If not.......
                    It's much the same.
In the case of the countdown....it's the design...that's what they want. It's not a case of not getting something in or out.
...and I haven't fired up HH in a while...but I'm pretty sure you had to hit the pitch button in HH also.

Knight, if you say you have to increase the block rating yourself for the catchers to make it better wouldn't you agree maybe it should come out of the box with higher ratings?

Just asking since you're the "master" of these tweaked rosters.

                      Thanks,

                        Not this year.
I think they re-worked something with this.
I rarely saw one at the CD.

                          1. Is anything different this year regarding umpires consistency on calling balls and strikes, and check swings?

                          2. I saw somewhere in this thread a comment regarding pitcher confidence being changed to some degree, but I can't find specifically what was changed if anything. Is pitcher confidence or its effects different this year?

                          Thanks

The whole check swing scenario was reworked as well as the umps calls. You will know when you went and when you did not. As far as balls and strikes you have to make that determination.

Is there any way that SCEA will update the managers for us to accompany the mid-season changes that are made? Thanks for all of your time and energy poured into your work.
