Wow reading 129 pages of posts does a number on the eyes.

Once again I end up leaving these threads wishing I never read them because now I'll just sit around doing nothing for the next month. With a couple nice additions to the Rogers Centre I don't know if I'll have to buy another game this year.

Did anyone notice if home plate gets dirtier this year?

I know they mentioned they tried adding it with field wear last year, but it didn't work right ... wondering if they were able to get it to work this year?

Yes it does. In my 3rd or 4th game the other day I did notice it got dirty. I also noticed that the crowd was chanting my name and I hit a walk off.

I then woke up and noticed my dreamcatcher had a busy night and I got up and took a shower...

I think the obvious question to you is, where the heck have you been the past few days or so that you are just now reading the last 129 pages of this thread?

            1. Speed is the biggest factor....add in contact...there is a tipping point where contact will outweigh speed
            2. The next best contact vs.
            4. The next best power hitter
            5. The next best power hitter
            6. The next best power+contact
Played the Phillies last night in a pass-the-time season with the Buccos using the updated rosters from the roster forum (ksig/jim/dm). They ran out this lineup against lefty Paul Maholm:

            1. Rollins
            2. Victorino
            3. Utley
            4. Howard
            5. Ibanez
            6. Polanco
            7. Werth
            8. Ruiz

I could easily quibble with how they constructed the order -- especially having three lefties in a row and when facing a LH starter -- but it does more or less show the logic you referred to. Just for fun and without knowing their ratings too well, I would've gone with:

            1. Rollins
            2. Polanco
            3. Utley
            4. Howard
            5. Werth
            6. Ibanez
            7. Victorino
            8. Ruiz

Possibly flipping Polanco & Victorino, depending on their exact ratings (would almost certainly do that versus a RHP). Polanco should be an ideal #2 hitter, but I'm somewhat hesitant to stick Victorino behind Ibanez for fear of neutralizing his speed.

Have the manager go 50-50 on ratings and stats for lineups/rotations
or be able to tip it to 0-100(all stats and performance)
            or 100-0(all ratings)
And it could get into sacrifice/hit & run/steal, lefty/righty splits, how they handle the bullpen (the Larussa slider!) and so on. This stuff isn't already in the game is it?

I do believe the Larussa slider is in the game already, I remember playing the cardinals one time and they had the pitcher batting 8th

But isn't a lot of this "lineup logic" a moot point considering we have the ability to control all 30 teams?

Not really, for guys like me who have no intention at all of taking over any team other then mine I would want CPU logic to replicate real scenarios.

I guess it just depends on how you play.

Me personally...I turn trades off and follow the real MLB transactions/injuries so in that way...it will work for me. I can set each of their lineups as I see fit. Now when they give guys days off the lineups may look weird, but I'm going to set them the way I want

Unless I'm totally misinterpreting what I can do with this new feature....

I was referring to his love of changing pitchers after every batter late in games. Basically, each manager would have his own individual "manager hook" setting, whereas now we just have a global one.

For those that go that route (I will to some degree), we assume it should be. But a lot of people probably don't want to get too involved with the other teams or may not want to do it all.

On this...yes...I would love a managers tendency screen to include...
How a manager picks a pinch hitter(rating(ovr)....L/R split rating .......hot streak.....stats vs L/R...
                        The same with all substitutions...
...and yes how often each of these would be done would be on a slider.
.....and finally...except for real managers(all of the above would apply) being able to edit name and appearance.

can anyone tell me if the tie breakers are fixed? is there a 1 game playoff if tied for division at the end of the season?

I read that this WAS fixed. I'd point you to where but it's gotten a bit mixed up in the shuffle.
