Re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions
If you don't mind me asking, what do you guys do with the non-MLBPA players? Do you insert a fake player in their place or just leave them out completely?
The only reason I ask is because the Cubs officially signed Kevin Millar today.Comment

Re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions
I think the guy is assuming Damon will be on NY since the rosters were cut off..but Damon would end up in Free Agents if he's not signed..which in that case the guy might sign him from FA one of those maybe...lolComment

Re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions
This isn't really so much a Community Day question as it is a general one since I'll be getting the game for the first time in March. Rather than start a whole new thread I figured I'd ask here.
How is the CPU for non-user controlled teams at handling lineups/batting order?
1. Will they generate realistic batting orders? This goes for both default roster and fantasy drafted teams. I assume it will have some default orders vs. L/R w DH/wo DH set with the default rosters the game ships with, but what about when a player goes down with an injury? Will the CPU realistically make changes in the batting order? For fantasy teams, does the CPU generate believable batting orders based on the squad they end up with? (I know that's a lot of questions disguised as 1, but I think you get the drift.
2. How does it handle rest? Will the CPU realistically rest players based on their real life at bats, especially for catchers? How good does it do at handling platoon situations in general?
3. For user controlled teams, is there some sort of usage limit where players will start to tire and their attributes will be negatively effected if you continually start them?
Thanks for any info as I continue to get psyched up for this game.
As a result, we (the gaming community) have two options. Have the lineups be "right" for the first couple seasons when the rosters are filled with guy we all know, or have the lineups be potentially "off" for the first few seasons but have the logic be right for the other 9 or 10 seasons we play in our RttS or franchise careers.
Personally, I would rather have the right logic be in there for the many, many, MANY years that we don't have commonly known players in there.Comment

Re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions
I can only provide somewhat of an insight to question #1. Getting batting orders right is pretty much impossible for the SCEA folks since the will lose no matter what they do. We are so set in stone regarding how teams should be placing players in their batting lineups that when the game puts someone like Todd Helton at leadoff, people freak out. The thing is, if you just look at their stats and ratings and COMPLETELY remove their names, then Helton as a leadoff hitter actually makes a good deal of sense. The SCEA guys have to code the game so that the CPU will make proper lineups in the many, many, MANY years after all/most of the players we know by name are no longer active players. So they have to code it so that when Joe Shababooboo is a regular major league player, he is placed in the right spot in the lineup.
Personally, I would rather have the right logic be in there for the many, many, MANY years that we don't have commonly known players in there.“A man may be an heretic in the truth, and if he believes things only because his pastor says so, or the assembly so determines, without knowing other reason, though his belief be true, yet the very truth he holds becomes his heresy.”

I also assume that means that Rosales will be on the roster as well...Comment
