Thanks Knight I can wait for MLB 10 The Show to come out in March and just in time before all the spring training games start up.

The biggest thing you will notice is that wild balls are much more realistic in quantity and quality. Last year most wild pitches looked like a base hit of the catcher's shin guard resulting in him having to truck after triggering that sliding catch. This year majority of the balls will trickle behind him or sometimes go a little further resulting in him grabbing it and being ready to throw if need be. I believe he takes his mask off for these situations as well. If by chance the ball travels a great distance he still may slide in order to ready himself. Also, it is not an automatic steal this year because the balls are staying closer to him.

An official scorers decision will also pop up after the play on whether it was a passed ball or wild pitch.

I can't find it, but I thought someone said that once you turn on manual injuries, you will not get random injuries in a franchise.

Thats how Id expect it to be, but was wondering if it was possible to start the franchise with all the current injuries (for example, last year with A-Rod hurt, etc) but then once we start the franchise with up to date rosters/injuries, we could then allow our own little franchise world begin with random injuries.
This will be where the OFF-ON-MANUAL (injuries) will be important on the GLOBAL profile.
The GLOBAL profile will dictate what "type" of injuries will occur in your league.
OFF-obvious....there will be none and you cannot manually injure anyone
ON- this is random...these are the injuries we had last year.(Now...if you have MANUAL set in the individual profile.....(not the global....but the ones you create and set up for each team) you will be able to handle how the CPU handles these injuries....set it for AUTO and the CPU will handle it.
MANUAL- You will have to go into the DL screen....and any team that you set at the start of your franchise to have "control" over you will now get to scroll to the next screen which contains the entire roster of players. Highlight a guy and you can assign/heal an injury.

Now...with the system the way I saw it at the CD, you could turn injuries ON(random) and then if you wanted to change something(either mimic a big MLB injury or heal someone who you see got a season ending injury(random)) you would simply go back into the GLOBA profileL....move injuries from ON to MANUAL....go to the team...fix/cause your injury....you can then go back and turn them back ON to have random injuries again.

This is going to be a great thing for guys wanting both.
Even if it does get locked(I hope not...and doubt it)...MANUAL will be the choice for franchise guys IMO.

re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions

I have noticed no talk about collision or contact avoidance at 2nd base or home plate. Are you guys forbidden to talk about this? or is it as bad as it was last year? the clipping and walking through players is jarring. I read the destructoid article and the author was told that this would be fixed in MLB 10 the show and yet you guys never talk about this in reference to gameplay. We saw the cart wheel in the CES video as a type of contact avoidance but overall this subject isn't even mentioned.

If this has been addressed please direct me to the post or thread.

re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions

I have a question for Knight. I just read your post regarding the franchise changes and the ability to set a profile.

I'm not interested in controlling all 30 teams, I just want to be the baseball equivalent of George Halas for one team. What exactly do I control in the franchise profile?

What does the cpu do for the other 29 teams?

            Thanks,
            Al

Taking "control" of any team means nothing per se. It basically makes you overlord of the team(teams/league) by allowing you to jump in at any time and change the control of any aspect OF control to that team.
If you took "control" of all 30 teams....set your team to the "alstl profile" and left the rest with no profile...it's the same as just choosing just your team.(except if you see something you want changed later....you now can go in...change control of that....change what you want....give control back...and continue on.
If you don't take control of any team at the start of a franchise(you don't have to if you don't want)....you cannot do anything for those clubs...you are closed out of that.

Dunno maybe just me.
I completely agree, the game should be predicated on winning being rewarded as is the case in real life. The example of Atlanta is false, in 1993 when they had their best season winning 104 games they drew 3.8 million.

The Pirates don't draw, but the first year in PNC they drew 2.4 million and they drew over 2 million in '90 and '91 when they made the playoffs. If they put a winner on the field they would draw.

Fans want to watch a winner and will reward winning by showing up.

Ah, that makes sense. So if I later decide to put St Louis for example in Sportsman's Park I can make that change even if they aren't my team.

                    Thanks,

Any new baserunning options? Still waiting to see if we have an in between mode instead of 100% cpu or 100% manual.

Also, I had heard there was a new setting or option for pitch speed. What is it? Anyone play with the pitch speed slider? I always have to lower it to 0 for my skills. It would be nice if that slider was more responsive.

Well, it's sort of gotten crazy in here with 10,000 questions. We're trying to answer everything we can. You will see player appear to bump into other players and move around them. They have greatly improved this. Balls now bounce off players and such. In real time you may see a runner running back to the dug out, get close to another player on the field and do a little jig to get out of his way.

That's cool how about those 2nd base and home base collisions or avoidance how is that handle.

From everything I've read it's still all handled by animations.

The way I look at is it's your "fantasy franchise". why wouldn't you WANT to fill your stands? It's like your trying to "one up" the real teams by bringing in more fans and winning.
