I agree, but nobody has really said that. Even though myself and others are saying it feels like The Show 09 again, that's not at all saying that nothing was done to the game nor it is a bad thing that it feels very similar to The Show 09. A lot of good things were added to this years version of the Show.

2K10 is not the better "overall" baseball game this year, but it clearly excels in certain areas vs the Show this year. That has not been the case in recent years, thus closing the gap between The Show. All the reviews, videos, etc. put out thus far have shown that 2K10 has a respectable product to purchase for this year.

The Show is still King. The Show 10 added some really great features to distinguish it from The Show 09, but not enough for me personally to reignite the fun factor I had so much with The Show 09 or to make a purchase at "full price" this year.
Sorry but I played the 2K10 demo. And I fail to see one thing where it excels over the SHOW. I said this in the impressions thread on the other board. 2K doesn't deserve anyones money until they stop with that cartoonish nonsense

      +1

Couldn't have said it better myself.
It was soley due to the crap that was 2k9 that I got a PS3 in the first place. And now with games like Uncharted 2, and Heavy Rain, it has become my preferred system. If XBOX didn't have Mass Effect, I would have sold it away.

All those who stand up for 2Kany year, never played the show. I was that way. I admitted to the bugs in the 2k game, and with much tweaking with the sliders, you can get the game to an alright level, but once I switched to the Show, I feel I was robbed for those years of my life, I truly did not know what I was missing. The Show is the best sports game made, with out question.
I will see you at THE SHOW!!

Ah, so that wasn't the final build of the game, eh? That's promising to know.

Yeah, after disappointments from 2K the past year (Baseball, Basketball) I'm done with them.

I'm glad you didn't say the same after playing MLB 2004 on PS2.

I'm just saying... let them try and prove something to you again each year. You may just find your diamond in the rough. This series turned around for me when they started naming their titles The Show at the end.

HAHA I was always a MVP guy back then...

really started playing the series in 06 (Vlad Guerrero cover), that game also had it's issues but it was a big leap in potential.

Those who want HUGE changes (when nothing is broken) are the type of people who ruin game franchises when the devs listen to them. I'm glad that 10 plays like 09. To say that it's the same game is crazy.

*The graphics are improved (if that was even possible)
                      *RTP looks amazing
                      *we can save post-game highlights
                      *the animations are improved
                      *ball physics are improved
*RTTS is more interesting and comprehensive
*we have 11 new stadiums (can't wait to play the vintage stadiums again!!!)

....the list goes on and on....

If it is not the final build, what exactly is different? Are there more bugs, or are the comsetic issues I saw possibly fixed in the version we can buy on Tuesday?

Personally, I love baseball so much that I would gladly play Triple Play 98' if it were the best game available. But luckily, we have a game that is so amazingly life-like that our desires for improvement are things like bat boys and rain drops.

When you take a step back and look at what we have, MLB The Show is absolutely mindblowing.

To those of you disappointed with a lack of new features... I have to question if you are only casual baseball fans?

New features are great, but to me the most important aspects of a sports game are: gameplay, graphics, and the quality of franchise mode. If a sports game is superb in all these areas, all I can really ask for are new animations, updated rosters, and subtle changes that improve upon the older mold (stat tickers, new replay angles, expanded franchise options etc.)

I guess what I mean to ask is: what new features are you looking for? what would make a new version worthy of purchase?

Re: Kiosk Impressions (Best Buy Build IS NOT FINAL)

first off, I am so glad I have an understanding girlfriend....

I have been at Best Buy the last 4 nights for over an hour each time. And somehow, she does not think I am insane. The employees do! But oh well.

so here are my many 2 cents on things that stood out to me:

                              • The lighting is amazing. Makes 09 look like a toy. Everything pops more, looks more realistic and has the feel for the time of day/night you are playing in.

                              • Playing a game against another guy there at Yankee Stadium, we watched as inning by inning the batter was further into the shadows as they creeped across home plate. The shadows cast by the clouds across the field were such a great touch.

                              • the customizable gloves, bats, shoes and gear all make a HUGE impact to individualize the players. Such a welcome feature.

                              • LOVE the livelier ball. Eating up infielders, CC took one off the shin, one batter went to the ground on one of his foot, and watching it ricochet off walls and dugouts (as players scatter) gives it such a realistic feel.

                              • The crowd was INTENSE. They got lively at the right moments, and were deafening with 2 outs and 2 strikes on a batter. The roll call and seeing Jeter acknowledge the crowd was great.

                              • Noticed some great improvements to stances and especially deliveries. Some are still the old clunky ones (Lackey comes to mind), but a lot got a major upgrade.

                              • Playoff atmosphere is probably one of the features I am most excited about, and was not disappointed by what I saw. The thundersticks in LA were LOUD and you could see a sea of red as the camera showed the replay of my guy striking out. Its not just cosmetic, as the distraction of the sticks and the increasing noise make concentrating more difficult. (or better depending on the home field advantage). The towels were well done, the cowbells in TB...all so great. Love the new playoff logos on the fields and also on replays. All in all, SO much better than 09. You feel like you are in the playoffs.

                              • One special note...the lighting in Tropicana Field is fantastic! This was my least favorite stadium to play at in 09 as everything felt lifeless and looked the most like a video game. Now it may be one of my favorites. It looks so much like a live broadcast with the lighting, reflections and all.

                              • The homerun derby was WAY more fun than I thought it would be. Watching the flight of the ball into the stands and fans go after them was great. Replays of the players admiring the shots are cool, but definitely will get repetitive and it would have been nice to see them alternate maybe between that and a replay of the homerun (which they dont show)

                              • Most stadiums look so much better, some more than others. I read that this was an earlier build, so there may be more to come, but as of now I noticed some parks like Fenway were lacking some important features (animated Citgo-type sign, manual scoreboard, new ads, etc). Saw some fireworks in appropriate parks, and they were well done!

                              • to wrap up...the game took a HUGE leap forward graphically. While gameplay does feel similar, I think its a shortcut to say it hasnt changed but its true that maybe only intense baseball fans will appreciate the difference....balls off the pitcher, taking the catcher or umpire out, hitting one off the shin, groundballs with "eyes" and bad bounces off of infielders, liners bouncing around the outfield wall so the runner stretches it into a double...all make major impacts on the game.

my one and only "complaint" is something that I noticed in my first game, then gave it a few more days of playing to see if it would really be an issue for me. It has to do with the RTP, which I totally understand is really a transitional feature this year, meaning they want to improve on it and make it more a part of next years game. When it shows up, it is breathtaking. TRULY looking like a broadcast and i was just standing there with this huge grin on my face. But its not that frequent (in the build I played) and the old cutscenes that flash to white first are still all over. The part where this really gets to me is on homeruns...where I really want to see RTP in action, meaning following the runner all around the bases and perhaps cutting to a replay of the homerun or the pitcher dejected...again, similar to a real broadcast. In big moments, to hit one out and see the screen cut to the white transition and then my batter jogging home is kind of a letdown.

But thats about all I can really complain about. The game was amazing.

honestly i havent played side by side w/ someone before... how do you pick your pitch and how does the other guy not see what pitch is chosen, and location?
