Re: MLB '10 The Show Tips and Work Arounds

couple of questions-- sorry for the long post but was just curious about a few opinions

    1) Is the "durability" slider what effects a players stamina? (if not does anyone know what does) I am having Nyjer Morgan near exhaustion after 5-6 games when he plays almost everyday (with a rare offday during the season).

2-A) I have my profile for pitching & hitting on all-star, when i paused the game to look at game options the diffculty it also said all-star. However, my global settings (or 2nd player) were all set on veteran. I played with controller #1 and the only one hooked up to the ps3 at the time. Was i actually playing on allstar or was it defaulting me to veteran vs the cpu?

2-B) Just an opinion question. As I've stated many times before I play with the Nats. I think the lineup is decent (especialy with Zim/Dunn/Willingham 3-5). I am getting 8-16 hits a game and scoring 3-8 runs with a 8-5 record. However, I am striking out 6-12 times a game. Would you keep it on all-star, or up it to the 4th level?

2-c) Pitching-- I enter my 14th game with a 2.95 team ERA (I have beaten the phillies 4/6-- mets 1/3 and swept the 2-10 brewers and 0-1 against rockies entering game 2 of the series (14th of season) for background). I am middle of the road giving up hits, hardly walk anyone (unless IBB to force a double play which works about 75-85% of the time somehow) and am getting 7-15 strikeouts a game (combined pitchers with about 1/2 called). However, I rank 25th in the league in HR's allowed. Do you think I should up my pitching diffculty or will i get blown out every game?

Again, sorry for the long post but I appreciate any and all advice

      RTTS pitcher speed question

My first 3 pitches were 4seam, changeup, and the slider change type pitch

Am I screwed for fastball speed? I hit 91ish with a near max FB velocity, I'm going to start training the speeds of the other pitches, but starting with a changeup hoses me completely?

I thought nearly every pitcher has a fastball and changeup, so made sense to have it with my guy.

If I train up my other pitch velocities, will I get a decent fastball speed?

      *edit* found this thread: http://www.operationsports.com/forum...em-solved.html

if I just level up the velocities I should be ok. Just hate to start over and RTTS as a pitcher is all I play with this game

        I'll bite

        1) I think durability actually refers to his injury proneness. I could be wrong but that's what I think it ties into. I think there's a stamina attribute you can edit in the Player edit screen.

2A)You were playing on All-star. If there WAS a player two they would be playing on VET, however what I would do in your case is go to your game options (not in game) and set everything the same for You/Player 2/AND Global. That way there is no question.

2B) Actaully it sounds like your doing good on the level your on. Those are good numbers.

2C) So if I'm understanding correctly your era is low but you give up a ton off bombs, yes? If that's the case some are suggesting tweaking the solid hits slider. (I won't comment myself on sliders I play all defaults) If however it's the other way around and you feel like you're not giving up enough HR's then yes I would up the pitching difficulty.

        Happy Easter!

So the problem with trades disappearing hasn't been fixed? This game is way too buggy, and to think, i bought a PS3 just for this game... I'm so far into my franchise already and I notice that trades only happen between cpu teams if i sim more than a week at a time. (I assume that's because enough time passes between reloading the franchise) This is stupid and aggravating, I don't have time to play 3 or 4 days worth of games all the time... I'm so mad and depressed about all the stupid bugs in this game...

How can I make sure I have the latest patch?

(oh, btw, Hi, first post for me, I've been lurking on this board for a few weeks now)

I just started a season mode with my rosters set just like I wanted 'em (Needless to say I spent a lot of time doing so).

Anyway...I start the season , control all 30 teams, set EVERYTHING to manuel, sim through spring training, and they STILL changed my lineups.

              Why is that?

you have to adjust 25 man rosters prior to ending spring training and save then end spring

I've been testing controlling the CPU's trade block and have seen them trade with only simming a day at a time. I've had trades on "manual" until the last week of July and then I set them to "Auto". Each day I look at the trade block and keep the players I want on there and take off the CPU's bad additions "Mauer & Pujols". I only saw one trade so far and that was Heath Bell to the Dodgers for an "A" potential SP.

But to answer that part of the question, I have seen trades happen when simming a day at a time.

Re: MLB '10 The Show Tips and Work Arounds

So here's a question: is there any option to turn on some sort of indicator for where my fielder should to be play balls off the wall? I've been playing a lot of games at Fenway lately and hits that would normally be a double or even singles have been turning into triples and inside the park home runs because I have absolutely no idea where the ball is going to bounce. I understand that a real fielder wouldn't necessarily know that either, but I can't even see the ball until right before it lands.

No, but you could pause and switch to auto-field when you see its going to hit off the wall. Ideal, no, but is what it is. I play auto-field and love it

Is that something that takes long? Is it on the option screen? Excuse me but I never even bother with spring training. I just set my rosters and go right into the season. But if I can avoid re-doing all that roster work it'll be worth wasting that first game I played last night and just start over.

The freeze seems to occur by accessing a bullpen (home or away) and then pressing select at any point after leaving the bullpen screen (it doesn't matter if you make pitchers start warming up or if you do absolutely nothing while in the bullpen); the instant you press select, the game will freeze. Even throwing a pitch or getting to the next batter in the order won't fix the problem; the game will still freeze. Note that the problem will not happen if you go to the bullpen and bring a reliever into the game; not sure why, but whatever is causing the frezze must be alleviated by actually bringing in a reliever.

But the actual WORKAROUND that seems to work every time is as follows: once you press circle to leave the bullpen, before you even continue the game, press the start button to pause the game, and then unpause the game. Every time I've tested this, pressing select to bring up the pitcher/batter graphic causes absolutely no problems. Of course, you'll have to repeat this process of pausing and unpausing every time you view the bullpen, but it seems to work.

Thanks to Spring Rubber for this work around

The freeze only happens when accessing the bullpen by the quick menu (up button) correct? I have had no problem getting to the bullpen by pressing start to enter it. I have only played 3 games at the Trop but have not had a problem yet..Am I missing something? Or is it safe as long as you don't use the quick menu?
