Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I need a little help in my Mets franchise. There are two trades I have on the table.
Mets get:
Carlos Zambrano
Cubs get:
My 3 top pitching proscpects. [All "A" potential]
Mets get:
Fausto Carmona
Indians get:
John Smoltz
Mike Pelfrey
Top pitching prospect ["A" potential]
I don't know which one to pull the trigger on. But one thing for sure is I NEED pitching. The only solid guy in my rotation is Santana.
If he doesn't work out, there are a host of other great arms out there.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I appreciate the help guys. I will continue looking. Besides Santana, a starter hasn't gone more than 4 innings, or had a win more than 10 games.....LMAOComment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I'm the Cubs.
Cubs: Fukudome and Jeff Samardzija to the Pardres
Padres: Tony Gwynn Jr to the Cubs
Cubs: Zambrano and Jeff Stevens to SF
SF: Ramon Ramirez to the Cubs
Cubs: Nady, Grabow and Antigua (B potentiol I believe) to NYY
Yankees: Marcus Thames and Zach McCallister to the Cubs
I had to get McCallister, heres from my hometown, I knew him growing up we played on the same team he was by far the best pitcher. Only one kid could catch him because he threw so hard and it hurt everyones hand.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I needed a decent 5th starter and wanted Gio Gonzalez (let him go on the offseason) and the Red Sox rejected over 10 trades with the bar full. I went ahead and gave up Adam Jones to the Indians for Fausto Carmona. I hate having an all star rotation, but I couldn't find a decent pitcher that would fit in that fifth spot and both players have 1 year in their contract so I went ahead and pulled the trigger.Favorite teams:

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I need some advice here. The Phillies just placed Jason Giambi on waivers near the end of August. Is he someone that I should place a claim on for $3.4 million dollar salary? I am not sure if I would have to pay all of that, or if the game takes into account the time frame of the season when it comes to salaries. Either way, I have a lot of room for salaries, still about 40 mil under budget. Anyway, Giambi has had 5 AB's all year with the Phillies. I could always use a little more power off the bench, but it would mean that I need to send down an outfielder (unless G-man can play 2nd lol). So is one month of Giambi worth picking up, mostly for the playoffs? I am sure he will retire at the end of the season anyway. Or should I ride with what I got? My power numbers are somewhere between 10th and 15th depending on the latest series. Fatigue shouldn't be a problem for my team, as the AAA team is not going to make the playoffs, thus making most of september a robust lineup.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I played around with the Giambi pick up and it looks like I would have to take on the entire 3.4 mil. It should be prorated, but oh well. I guess they can't get everything perfect in the game. It is a good thing to know; however, as now I can trade away players with high salaries mid season and not have to pay half their salary haha. Back to Giambi, I will most likely pass on him. I can't argue that his power could help out our team and that the 3.4 really isn't all that much with my extremely low payroll. And I am positive he will retire at the end of the season. So what it really comes down to is that while I would love for him to retire an A, his last hurrah tour already happened in 09. I can't seem to justify bringing a guy back that we cut the last time we tried to "get the band back together". But I am still going to give it a day to think about it just in case I change my mind haha.Comment

I play as the Cubs, 2nd in div 7.5 back of the Cardinals and 7.0 games out of the wild card behind 3 teams. Do you think I should buy or sell?Playstation Network:That70s_Gamer

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
2nd season, 5 games left in August. I have stopped playing on the last day to make a claim for G-Man. I am still a little on the fence. I could really use the extra power he brings to the table, and power on this game is far more important than any other hitting attribute. More importantly, the sentimental side of me wants to see Giambi retire an A. I also know he would perform on the game at the level we all wanted him to perform in real life. On top of it all, it can't hurt to have that extra bat when facing the Yankees or Red Sox in the playoffs. We came up short against the Red Sox last season, losing three straight after winning game one of the ALDS. Our power completely abandoned us, even the games that our pitching held strong. The cost is nominal considering. We could probably bring in 3.4 mil in the two game series, let alone if we make it to the ALCS or even the world series. The player cost would be sending down one outfielder, most likely Ryan Sweeney, and releasing some single A scrub. And his power against lefties is nearly maxed out, thus giving us plenty of match up options. What could be better than having a fan favorite end his career by having him help us bring home another championship?Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I will give it until tonight or tomorrow before I finally decide on what to do. Other than the failed 09 attempt in real life, I can't come up with any reason not to sign G-Man. Money isn't really that big of an issue, one can never have too much power, and I currently have 5 outfielders on the roster. Sending one down won't hurt anything other than having a little extra speed for late games, but how many times a game will that come up? If less than 2 then I got that covered with Rajai Davis and whomever is playing backup infielder. In two weeks game time, that won't matter anyway with the expanded rosters. I can't see G-Man getting a ton of AB's the rest of the year, but having that extra pop for the playoffs would be a huge bonus.Comment
