Did you download the patches? That should have fixed the trade issue with stars getting traded multiple times in a single season.

I've noticed players getting stuck in waivers, where one team will sign him and release him the same day and the cycle continues

Yeah I believe we came to some sort of consensus here at OS that the reason this is happening is because teams are programmed to sign players to fill needed positions within the system, but are also programmed to release the lowest overall player on their roster. So a system depth chart shows a particular team is weak at 2nd base, so the team signs a second baseman from FA. They then must release a player since they are over 90 total. So they release the lowest overall player, which happens to be the 2nd baseman they picked up. That is the problem with a computer program. It is working exactly like it was programmed to do, but common sense tells you it isn't right. Perhaps in later years when there are better players and more depth in FA, this won't happen as often. Until then, do what the rest of us do and pretend that player failed the physical haha.

The AI needs better 40 man programming

Also, maybe an attribute of popularity...that way Jeter will be signed to the Yankees if they have a need and he hasn't regressed too much. Or that Ortiz won't be traded

The closer role also needs to be tweaked and we need to be able to edit players in RTTS mode. I have seen a RP in Micah Owings become a closer out of need and save 40 games with a 1.80 ERA....next season he is cut and a MR in AAA for another team

That woudl be the same for SP and MR as well

last week in July. Just started a 3 game series against the Cards, split the first 2, now 10 games back of them and 6.0 out of the wild card still behind 3 teams. After St.Louis 3 in Houston who is just horrible but I can't beat for the life of me, then Colorado who leads the NL West. Made a few moves but might have a fire sale on the 31st.

I wouldn't be a seller. I would be looking at your weaknesses/needs and try to fill those holes in order to make a run at the wildcard at least. 6 games back isn't insurmountable.

In my Mets franchise I'm mulling over a trade.

                    Mets get:

                    Chad Billingsley

                    Dodgers get:

                    John Maine
                    Top pitching prospect

My pitching is terrible with the exception of Santana

I'm going to say pull the trigger. Billingsley is young(not cheap), and is a great overall pitcher. Maine is mehhhh and I think Billingsley is worth the prospect and Maine.

I kinda agree with this, but then I didn't expect the Astros to trade Berkman this season either. I also like that this is the first sports game that I can think of where big name players get traded. I guess it would need to be worked to where if a popular player isn't having a great season it's possible for them to be traded
