I have actually decided to sim the 2nd year and play in the 3rd year since I have a couple of young minor leaguers I want to bring up. Im gonna see if chipper retires cause as much as I love having him on the team I hate playing with him cause the devs wont fix his stance. I have a "chipper jr" so to speak that will play the 2nd half of this year in AAA and then make his debut the next year cause Im almost certain chip will retire. so if CarGo is a FA (dont know what his contrac is in the game) Ill go all out for him then.

I forgot to look, actually forgot to move him up to AAA when I was simming lol. but I just played the first game of the new season and I have him batting 5th. he went 0for 3 or 4 cant remember, but he made good contact. as an aside I didnt get CarGo, he took arbitration in the offseason.

In my Mets franchise, I'm looking for power. I want to get rid of David Wright because I can't hit with him for some reason. He's hitting .260 with 19 rbi in July.

I'm considering going after A. Ramirez. He's older, but gives the power I need to help Bay and Beltran.

              What do you guys think?

So you are trying to swap David Wright with Ramirez?

                Real bad trade IMO.

You might want to take the time to evaluate his hot zones and go from there. Wright can be a total maniac at the dish if you learn how to use him.

                    Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**

I'm looking for a little advice on a realistic move in my Yankees franchise.

It's the second week of June. After trading for Randy Wolf, the Giants placed Dontrelle Willis on optional waivers. It looks like I have no competition in claiming him.

I'm considering packaging him in a deal with Greg Golson somewhere (if I get Willis). Golson's (OF) stock is sky high right now. He's leading AAA in hits, and is top 10 in average, 2B's, and HR's.

I'd like to get some power off of the bench, preferably in the OF position because Marcus Thames is currently below the Mendoza line, and I may have to release him (or trade him for a mid-level prospect).

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or at least if not specific names, whether or not I should only expect (realistically) a minor leaguer, or major league ready player.

Again, Golson will never be worth more, and Willis in a deal could sweeten things up for me.

Well if you are looking for realism, how can you possibly trade Willis? Why would any team want to trade for a guy that they could have gotten off waivers for nothing? If you had the option to eat some salary then perhaps, but it isn't logical to sweeten the pot with a guy that 29 other teams passed on.

Now Thames on the other hand you should be able to move. When posting here in the trade forum, you really should also mention your standings, the current month, and prospective buyers and sellers as well as players on the block, if you really want the best advice possible.

                        Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**

I'm an idiot. You're right Cards, eating salary is the only realistic way to trade a guy like Willis.

Very true. Clearly his contract (3 years remaining at about 2 mill per) is why he's so unwanted. Me having his rights won't change that.

I'm at the second week of June. I lead the Angels by 3.0 games for the wildcard. They seem like a compatable trading mate.

Every division is very tight, only the Pirates, Reds, Marlins, and Orioles are far out of things (10 or more games out).

The A's, though in last place, have been by far the most aggressive, having just traded for Rick Porcello, after dealing for Reyes a few weeks back.

The Mariners could use some pop, with Russell Branyan on the DL. Thames would work there.

The Cubs as well, with D. Lee in Atlanta in my chise'. Their lineup is a little anemic.

The Dodgers could use some help too. They appear to be seeking hitters, and I'm sure would like to get more help in the pen. Kiroda has been on the block all year.

I'm willing to trade Damaso Marte, as most teams are seeking relief pitchers right now. The Cards offered me Randy Winn for him along with my top prospect Montero. I obviously declined.

Javy Vazquez could go too. He's not worth much now though.

I plan on waiting to make big moves. All I want now is a replacement for Thames. Berkman's hurt btw.

A Matsui, or Matt Stairs type really. I figure Golson plus another piece could get me a pinch hitter. Stairs and Matsui are too good though for what I'm willing to deal now. Anyways, both guys are in playoff pushes, though Matsui is on the block.

Teams that seem to need some offense that are playing well:
                        Red Sox
                        Mariners
                        Dodgers
A's (though far out of first)
                        Giants
                        Angels
                        Rockies
                        Nationals (suprisingly)

The White Sox may like Marte or Vazquez, and they just have Andrew Jones sitting on the bench.

Any ideas for OF/1B power bench guys? Not a splash, but a little pop. You know, a Mark Kotsay/Adam Laroche type.

                        Trading block notables:
                        Vlad Guererro
                        Matsui
                        Adam Dunn
                        Albert Pujols
                        Mike Lowell

                        Cliff Lee
                        H. Kiroda
                        Barry Zito
                        Wandy Rodriguez
                        Randy Wells
                        Brian Fuentes

My best guess, though, is requesting a deal with a player NOT on the block, thus the post. Is it even possible for the CPU to accept a trade for a player not on the block?

                          Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**

                          Great post.

I think your best bet is to wait until July 1st when the team overview changes to playoff push. Those are the teams that would be willing to take on someone like Thames. You can absolutely trade for players that are not on the block. In fact, every trade I have made so far was for players not on the block. As long as it is fair or in their favor, the CPU will ok any trade. You just have a better shot at getting certain players depending on the overview status of the team. Any team that is not in playoff push will be more likely to trade away their final contract year veteran.

How long is Berkman hurt? What team is Stairs on in your franchise? You could get Jack Cust really cheap and he greatly outperforms his real life counterpart. He is terrible in the outfield, but that doesn't matter too much on this game.

                            Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**

Berkman's only out for another 11 days, which would put me just near July 1st, or a couple of series before. Yeah, I realize it's not an emergency to fill his spot.

Him being out has REALLY exposed my weaknesses in the bench department.

                            Ramiro Pena- under .200
Marcus Thames- .187 with decent playing time
                            Francisco Cervelli- .089
Brett Gardner (platoons with Kearns)- .208

                            Derek Jeter-.263
                            Curtis Granderson-.250's...which is fine, actually.

I may send Cervelli down, so he can work out the kinks in AAA. Jesus Montero has good power, so it may be his time.

Without production from Thames, it's hard for me to give my outfielders anytime off without recourse. Kearns is playing well, but he's not fit for that late inning pinch hit heroism. I'll probably take your advice, and play Thames for Berkman, giving him a chance to turn it around by July. Hopefully Golson doesn't start to slump by then. I'm itching to move him while the moving's good.

Jack Cust! Great idea. That's exactly why I posted in the thread. I'll follow him for the next few weeks, and post later about where the A's and there needs are next month.

You know, I'm certain Stairs is on SanDiego...until you asked, and now I'm second guessing myself. I'll check later.

If any other names cross your mind, feel free to post. I can use the suggestions.

Do you have Nick Johnson still? The CPU used him in LF for a series I just had against them. Not sure how he will do out there, but CPU likes him lol.

What I would do if I were you is go through every roster and look for guys that have high power ratings but low overall ratings. Then write them all down on a list and see which ones can be had for whom. These guys should over perform for you and would make great bench role players, especially in pinch hitting situations. Since they are merely fill in types, you don't have to worry about their defense rating. You can also use just about anyone as an emergency replacement in LF. They do that from time to time in real life. Sometimes even pitchers haha.

Yeah, Johnson's in AA. Don't get me wrong, I'm willing to run my team, as well as allow other teams to do whatever they need to in the front office to win. But as a Yankees fan, I have a hard time promoting him.

My rosters are based on this year's trade deadline. That means I have Kearns, Berkman, and Woods.

The Yankees fan in me knows that if Johnson had been healthy, Berkman would never had come to NY. I franchise with the Yanks, yes, but promoting Johnson would almost feel like SUPERTEAM. You know what I'm saying? It's silly, but I'd rather earn the big bat via trade, than promote Johnson who never really was a Yankee (thus the only reason I have Berkman, hurt or not).

Oh, yes, my notebook is definately gonna get some milage between now and July!
