Wait, it costs money to even MENTION a player?

Only to create a virtual likeness of them with the same name (although the EA/Sam Keller lawsuit might be eliminating the latter part of that soon).

        Thanks for clearing that up.
Well, if legends are in the game, or atleast their batting stances, I pray to God you have Willie Stargell's pre-at bat warm-up. (Y'know when he's flipping it around)

Plus...the player vault should give you access to HUNDREDS of legend players. Pick and choose.

...and before someone says...."how come OOTP has in every player who ever played the game"....text games are not subject to any licensing or if they do pay a fee...it's nominal. I can't remember the outcome of that particular court case a few years ago that gave them that latitude.

Yeah, this makes sense... I could not remember if Kolbe said all or some... but I guess it was all removed. Which is not a loss really, with the player vault and all.

The only issue I have with this is not being able to use the retired numbers. At least with the legends you had some with numbers.

I guess my two concerns are, will they keep the legend stances/pitching motions, and was there any discussion about retired numbers?

Also, if they wont let us use the numbers, does anyone know if that is an MLB issue, or just something SCEA does for realism?

Safe money's probably on ~5 GB, I think it's been like that for the last few years (not all of the PS3 generation, though).

Congrats on still having a working launch PS3, I finally gave up on the 60 GB a few months ago.

Wait does this mean we will not be able to edit players during franchise mode , because i would hate to see every single drafted player have the same batting stance and gear. I would not want them to all look the same

no, as far as i could tell they were strictly talking about the removal of legendary players..randomly created guys during franchise mode should still be fully customizable! i see no reason why this wouldve been taken out even with the inclusion of player vault

mlb 10 franchise is amazing but just hate some of the trades teams made. The Red Sox in my franchise traded Youk and Pedrioa for some prospect. trades like that are every where but other then that Franchise was amazing. Hopefully in MLB11 teams that are contenders rather give up prospects for stars instead of stars for prospects. it makes no sense to trade pedroia youk for some prospect. The Red Sox were in first place in the East when they made this trade

I'm sure at the very least the stances and pitching motions will still be there as generics (like they do when guys retire). It may not be as easy to work with, but we have enough knowledgeable people around here to figure out who goes to what.

I believe the retired number exclusion is based on MLB "rules" as far as what numbers are available for each team to be used. They have to follow the style guide for uniforms, and MLB has a set of rules regarding uniforms, numbers, appearances, etc.

yeah know where your coming from..for reasons such as this i gave up on franchise mode last year & instead fired up a season taking control of all teams..loads of fun! anyway as far as im aware trade logic etc has been improved!

I've asked repeatedly about retired numbers.(the first time for real...the rest as a little humorous pester)...and right now.....SCEA cannot allow for retired numbers. I'm almost positive if it wasn't a legal issue right now, Kolbe would have allowed it. I too miss the retired numbers for classic roster sets.

I'm pretty sure the stances/motions of the legends will remain in.
