Yes, and very practical too. The "Discipline" one really teaches you to be patient because it mixes up the balls and strikes really well. And of course the "Good At Bats" one is probably the most useful of all because you have to put together everything you used in the previous training.

I also like that these special practice modes can be selected in the front-end practice option (from the main menu). It allows you to play the modes with any of the MLB players.

I haven't looked yet - any new practices for pitchers?

After a good night of playing....
            Holy Baseball Heaven Batman

I'm not going to go through all aspects and disect each little thing as we'll have plenty of people do that. I just need to say it was a joy throughout. Can't really explain it but at points I felt more into the game than ever before.
Love the analog additions even more mow that I can play with my Yankees

The atmosphere is incredible. I spent the first part of night doing some sounds of the Show add vendors and crowd stuff. Will do the same this morning until I'm happy with the additions.

I wapped the night up with starting a RTTS with a CF and a SP.... Can't wait to get back into it!

Great job SCEA...simply a great job.

Does anyone thinking they will be using the meter again?
I'm considering it. I'm having a very difficult time keeping the ball down and out of the middle of the plate. If my target is on the black, it's hard for me to push the stick up in the direction of the target. It either goes to the center or past the target. Apparently I'm pretty bad in the accuracy department with the joystick.

Lit strasburg and the Nats for 7 someone please tell me this game hasn't gone homer happy on us.
                CONGRATULATIONS!
I spent last night playing Yankees C.C VS Strasburg...I switched back and fourth between pitchers and had 11K's for both, the Nats took a 1-0 lead into the 9th when their closer gave up a 3 run BOMB...but I really don't think it's a homer fest....maybe your timing is just that good??

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but a nice NEW touch to franchise is achievements. Each team has a list of teams history, record, wc berths, World champions etc... All dynamic so if you win a championship it is reflected.

I am only using the meter. Don't care for analog pitching.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread

                      NOoooooooooooooooooooo!!!

Just played my second game and wanted to see how powerful Strasburg was. Well, I took a no hitter into the 9th inning against the Twins, but then left a change over the plate and Kubel homered the other way

What a let down! But what a GREAT game! I have never been so emotionally invested in an EXHIBITION game.

It was 1-0 for the longest time and that one RBI came from an RBI single from Strasburg himself in the 3rd inning.

Then in the bottom of 8th I added on three more runs to give a bit of cushion, with Laroche hitting a 2 run homerun.

But yeah, second pitch of the top of the ninth, Kubel homered, final score 4-1.

This was on Hall of Fame pitching, with Hall of Fame throwing and Rookie hitting (yeah, thank goodness for different levels for each aspect of the game!)

Surprisingly not many strikeouts for Strasburg. Final line was 9 IP, 1 hit, 1 run, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts.105 pitches. It seemed the Twins were able to foul off a LOT of well placed 99 mph fastballs. Oh well.

Oh yeah, I had a perfect game going until the 7th when I walked Morneau. I fell behind 3-1 and coud have thrown it in there, but didn't want to risk him breaking up the no no so I tried to make a good pitch not over the plate and it missed low.

Anyway, GREAT game, loving it so far. Love all aspects of analog, even if my hitting needs a TON of work.

It's release day, I'm pretty sure the embargo on having to get permission is now cleared since everyone will have the game now and that's a whole lot of unnecessary work for mods.

Wow, are you serious??? It just can't be real!

I was on the fence this year between the two games, but I am now embarrassed about thinking that.

The Show IS the reason I own a PS3, thanks for another great product SCEA!

PS3 owners, there is no decision... only one choice!

I know its one game, but errors may need to be toned down for the cpu.

I doubt Chris Johnson of the Astros will throw 2 balls into the stands then another into the dirt on routine grounders. Bourn is a Gold Glove CF and he will lose a ball in the sun and then Quintero will pick up a slow grounder and throw over the first basemens head.

I was the pirates our linescore in 12 innings

                              Astros 6 Runs 12 Hits 5 Errors
                              Pirates 5 Runs 10 Hits 1 Errors

I messed up my bullpen left, 13 guys on, Tabata got thrown out in the 11th when Cutch hit sharp single to center and thrown out on home i pretty sure tabata would score on that.

Was a great game i used my bullpen all up had to throw hanrahan too mucha nd he blew a save with 2 outs no one on as well.

                              Pence and Quintero homered

Anyone else see some quite error filled game
