Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
I'm glad most guys are getting what we(the C.D. attendees) got at the event.
While yes...the game retains a lot of the elements of previous versions...the actual look(lighting..stadiums....player models)...and the feel(the new fielding ....the new hitting/pitching).....and just the general FEEL(the game just feels tighter and smoother)...along with the new ticker(if you're a franchise guy you're going to love it IMO).
At first...I think like some people(and if they walked away after this....it's really too bad for them)...we were a little..."this is very similar"...but then when you see and play more and more...you realize just how much work actually went on with the game...
I hear you guys on the audio...I do(I still think it's very good....I think it's just "the thing" to do right now and bash it...)...but honestly...if you are basing your opinion on this game on that as the "stale" comments...you are very much missing what makes The SHOW a great...great game.
This game is TIGHT.

Are you saying it's too often or too few planes flying (I can't believe this is even coming in a baseball game discussion!)? The reason I ask is that I'm a pilot out here in San Diego and PETCO is right underneath the flight path into Lindbergh Field. Planes are landing every couple of minutes 18 hours a day.Comment

There's a reason there are options in the game man.
Personally, i'm a huge fan of classic pitching. And, i'm happy to say, that they really seemed to work on classic pitching this year. No more hoping and praying that your pitch is going to go where you want, and no more missing above a guys head when you aim low and away. I've had a few problems with control with Lester, but not in an infuriating way. Absolutely LOVING classic this year.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
I know its one game, but errors may need to be toned down for the cpu.
I doubt Chris Johnson of the Astros will throw 2 balls into the stands then another into the dirt on routine grounders. Bourn is a Gold Glove CF and he will lose a ball in the sun and then Quintero will pick up a slow grounder and throw over the first basemens head.
I was the pirates our linescore in 12 innings
Astros 6 Runs 12 Hits 5 Errors
Pirates 5 Runs 10 Hits 1 Errors
I messed up my bullpen left, 13 guys on, Tabata got thrown out in the 11th when Cutch hit sharp single to center and thrown out on home i pretty sure tabata would score on that.
Was a great game i used my bullpen all up had to throw hanrahan too mucha nd he blew a save with 2 outs no one on as well.
Pence and Quintero homered
Anyone else see some quite error filled gameI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Great Impression out of the box from this guy!
I am all about simulation and it usually takes me a long time to fine tune sliders/roster before I start my chise, but I had a great first game out of the box.
Brewers (Me) vs Jays
Won 3-2, each team struggling offensively vs Romero and Greinke respectively
Gave up my only 2 runs on a hanging curve to Bautista. But battled back and managed to scratch out 3 unanswered runs in the 7th, highlighted by a 2-run, 2-out single past 2 diving defenders by Jonathon Lucroy. Axford came down to nail the save. What an exciting matchup, felt a lot like baseball with the matchup between pitchers and batters. Defense is realistic too, not every play being automatic.
Just started my RTTS and love the depth with different stat building challenges and what not. This game is definitely for the baseball purist, and I am loving it!Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Still haven't decided on analog pitching. Out of the box, I've been throwing WAY too many strikes. I actually switched to the meter and tooled with the settings, just to set up an experiment control (no pun intended). With a setting in which I was erratic and issuing walks with the meter, I was still mostly in the strikezone with analog. It's still a small sample size and I'm going to give it more time, but I don't know...A screaming comes across the sky...Comment

Yeah I went to zone hitting and meter pitching. I hate analog controls in baseball games.
Dont get me wrong I think the analog pitching controls were done great just not for me. I don't like the hitting though because it seems only timing based. I got more hits on it when I tried it than when I was using zone now.Comment
