Well, I suppose I'm starting to get the hang of it. After 100 at bats now, I'm up to a .260 BA. And I just hit my first home run (even though I'm a contact hitter)!!!! Woot. LOL, I can't remember feeling this satisfied in previous sports titles I played. It's nice what some hard work and "sticking with it" will do when it starts paying off.

Mah gawd. So I was batting like .415 through my first 40 or so at bats, and I was made a starter and slipped a little bit, but not too much. I was still over .400, but then I went into a 1-22 slump, man it was humbling. I slipped down to .272 at one point, now I'm back up to .287 and I seem to be back on track.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I got called up to Baltimore at the beginning of August! The club called my player and the other CF up at the same time right after trading away Vladimir Guerrero. I guess Adam Jones on the shelf and Vlad gone they needed some young guys in there.
My first at-bat I legged out an infield single off of Kyle Drabek and eventually came around to score. I struck out my next at bat and then flied out in my 3rd at bat. I got one more chance in the game, with the scored tied at 3 in the bottom of the 10th. Here's a vid of what happened... HOMERUN!

What does it take to get called up from AA lol. Im on my second player in RttS now. I have a CP who is 5 years in playing for Philly at the MLB level i moved pretty quickly through the system despite Philly somehow landing Paplebon and Soria (trade system = broke) Now im playing 1B with the Astros and in AA I've played 10 games as the starter through 20 games of the season and this is my line:
10 G - 40 AB - .600 AVG - 24 H - 11 R - 9 2B - 5 HR - 22 RBI - .591 OBP
How on earth am i still playing AA ball?? Im on All Star difficulty and cant seem to NOT hit everything in site.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I created a Power hitting, high strength, even glove/armed third baseman. I was drafted by the Marlins organization. Not an ideal fit, but I at least knew they would give me ample opportunity to get to the big leagues quickly.
I started with the Jacksonville Suns. For the first two to three weeks, I struggled coming off the bench. I didn't set any secondary positions, because I knew defensively I would be a butcher in a middle infield position, and would never be fast enough to play corner outfield. So I scuffled trying to get playing time. Then, during the third week, things started clicking. I hit three home runs, walked a few times, and in the beginning of May the manager gave me the starting job, moving incumbent third baseman Greg Gee over to first.
I didn't look back. I went on to hit .308 with 9 HRs and 30 RBIs in 214 ABs. I made the AA All Star game and got called up to the New Orleans Zephyrs the next day. I even got selected to play in the Futures game in Arizona! Couldn't have been happier. Within about 3 weeks of being in AAA, I was moved into the starting AAA role. My biggest flaw, my defense, we even coming around. I helped the Zephyrs win their division and make the playoffs. My final stats with the Zephyrs were 146 ABs, a .303 avg, 10 HRs, 33 RBIs. My K numbers did rise with the promotion, as I had 41 K's to 18 BBs.
First game of the playoffs, the Zephyrs get destroyed by the Iowa Cubs, 16-4. I went 3-6, but the entire team was just off. So, as I got ready to exact some revenge, it popped up. As of 9/10/11, I was getting the call up to the Marlins! Hanley Ramirez had been injured, and they were moving Emilio Benifacio to SS as a stopgap. Instead of using Greg Dobbs at third, they were going to get a good look at me for next season.
So I am travelling from New Orleans to Pittsburgh for my first game in the show! Looks like I will be hitting sixth, behind Logan Morrison and in front of John Baker.Last edited by Millennium; 03-20-2011, 08:37 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
I wish there was an option to reverse this control scheme. Set the default camera as broadcast and push L2 to use the behind the runner view (for like steal attempts and such). Broadcast view is so much easier to work with, but it sucks to have to hold down L2 all the time, and its too delayed in switching to that view. Even if you are holding down L2 the whole time, the pitch is almost to the plate when the camera switches to broadcast so its hard to quickly adjust and react before the ball is in play.Comment

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread
So I finished the month of April 2013 with the Reds. I'm still a bench player, but I get to start about every 2 days. I have to say major league pitching will tear you up without plate discipline.I'm seeing a lot of pitches that are borderline and out of the strike zone. You just won't see any pitches in the middle of the plate unless you have the count in your favor. A lot of pitchers with 95+ fastballs, and they also can locate. I'm having limited success though. I'm hitting over .300 but have struckout 17 times. My new advance goals are hit a HR and slug over .400. Most of my hits are of the weak variety, so that will be a struggle.Comment
