I chose to be a starter for the Pirates and these are my stats

56 GP , 14 GS , 12, QS, 1 SV, 2 BS , 181 k, 154.1IP, 0,77 WHIP,

Led the league in shutouts(3) and complete games (3)

Coming into my 2nd year, im the best starter on the team and the 6th best player on the team.

To add to that, the ace in the rotation for some reason is evan meek, RP for the pirates

With that all said, ill be in the bullpen for the strt of the 2012 season

Love this mode. Created myself as a pitcher and entered the draft. Got picked by the Rays.

Worked my way up to the AAA rotation in Durham where I was doing pretty well. I've got a nice curveball, an average changeup and a good fastball in the low- to mid-90s. I was thinking that the call up to Tampa wasn't far off.

Then, next thing I know, I get dealt to the Brewers as part of a two-prospect package for Shawn Marcum.

So now I'm in Nashville in the Brewers' AAA rotation, fighting to establish myself there, and I've found that I can't just push people around with my fastball like I could in AA. I'm working on the change and the curve and seeing some nice results. I really love how I can watch myself progress, growing pains and all.

Next stop, Milwaukee!

So with 5 games left on the season, the batting title is clearly mine. However, as my 21 year-old centerfielder has the durability of a 40-year-old (that attribute is set-up kind of wrong...), have only played in 136 of 157 games. I'm also now wasting precious points on "BR Aggressiveness" now that my speed is 99 and BR Ability is 76. Really nice to know that in order to get my 99 speed and 76 BR Ability player to actually steal I have to waste points. I really, really would *love* to shake the hand of the person at SCEA who thought this was a sane idea. BR Aggressiveness isn't even a skill. Playing on a damn team that never runs means you'd run less in baseball. Speed and BR Ability are the skill parts. Aggressiveness should be a simple slider I can move left or right. And best of all, it apparently advances at the same rate as other skills! So now at 56 it'll still take years (in the game) for me to get up into the 90s if I want to actually put in points for other attributes. Pure idiocy.

Five starts into 2012 and I'm the ace of the AAA staff, so far 3-2 with a 0.69 ERA. Each start gets me a ton of training points, so I try and make the most of those by filling out other areas and making myself a decent hitter, being in the NL and all.

I'm modelling my pitching style after Greg Maddux, so I'm not big on getting wicked speed on my pitches, I'm all about finessing my way through. Hopefully they add me to the 40 man roster soon, I'm getting tired of completing my achievements and getting "You're not ready for the 40 man yet." WTF.

My CF got called up early, in May of his first season, as an injury fill-in (for a pitcher that got hurt, not even a position guy). He was only batting .230 in AA, and he's definitely over-matched in AAA. It's now a month later, he's still under .200, that pitcher came off the DL and they didn't send me down. I guess I appreciate the promotion, but I'd rather go back down so I can earn more points. The two CFs on the AA team are both on fire right now, and hitting over .300, maybe they will call one of those up and let me go back down a while. And their overalls are better than mine anyway, not sure why they called me up.

So my A's finished 88-74 and sneaked in as the Wild Card. Beat the Red Sox in 5, and got a bunch of extra points! Now the 2nd best overall player on the roster behind Bailey.

Here's how the ALDS ended, with some guy on the Sox flying into a double play. Yeah...not much of an arm on my speedster.

On to the ALCS against the Rangers.
Here's my speedster getting his Rickey Henderson on. Runs like Rickey, hits and styles like him, too.

I maxed out my speed, BR ability, and BR aggression but for some reason while taking the same lead and getting the same jump I can’t steal 2nd base. Is there something I’m missing? Does the mechanics of base stealing change when you max out the attributes?

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

Base stealing is really hard in RTTS. According to the simmed stats, someone with a 67 in BR ability and 40 BR aggressiveness should still between 14-19 bases while being caught around 4-7 times, but I feel like I have a less than 50% chance even with a good jump with those ratings. I've given up in just letting the stolen base stats go.

Is the pitcher doing a slide step or using a sped-up motion? Also it seems like every catcher has a strong throwing arm. Some have suggested keeping an eye on the catcher and as soon as the catcher moves to get set, go.

In the minors I had a terrible steal percentage even when selectively running on pitchers with terribly slow motions, only for the catcher (some with less than stellar arm ratings) to gun me down with a perfect strike every time at second. I've changed some of the sliders to at least make it a bit fairer.

Don't know if I should continue playing this mode...

Finished my AAA season and only got one contract offer,I finally accepted it.
First 2 days of the season ( Like 2 weeks before the season started) I get sent down for doing "bad" even though no one in the world had a chance to bat, I sim after that to next appearance, and get called up 2 days after getting sent down. AGAIN I did NOT even get to bat yet
Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.

finally made it to the bigs a little over halway through my second season. I made a 1B for the Colorado Rockies and moved to AAA halfway through year 1 then was traded to the twins. Was killing it in AAA and was just traded to the Cubs for Derek Lee and immediately called up wooo!!... first MLB at bat 1-2-3 strike out lol but second was a single

So the A's won the world series and I won Playoffs MVP! Yay! I restarted the games btw if needed to draw out the series. I don't really care if that's "cheating" as I used the points from those games to increase my 99-speed, 99-BR Ability speedster's BR Aggressiveness. Yay, up to 68 now! Man, if only the developers were sane and didn't make me waste points on this and just made it a slider. Apparently you need training to actually use the speed and ability. I'm sure Rickey Henderson, even when having insane speed and wonderful baserunning skills still had to train to actually decide to steal bases. I'm guessing it involves going to a motivational sports psychologist who tells my 99-speed, 99-BR Ability centerfielder that he can do it and cheering him on! I really hope BR Aggressiveness is a freely movable slider next year.

In my third year of my RTTS for my LF. Was drafted by the Braves (awesome) and had a pretty steller AA year (round .320 average and lead in several batter categories). Second year I get a contract for AAA and ended with a decent year batting just above .300, though low point was getting traded to the Royals AAA (not awesome).

Got an offer for to be on the MLB bench and I'm about a month and a half away from finishing the season. Started off the year horribly, had a batting average about the same as the Royals winning percentage, right around .170. I was mainly a pinch hitter with a start ever other week and had a hard time adjusting to MLB pitchers. Got sent down to AAA and was a beast for about 3 weeks and was called back up because they had traded their #1 LF.

Currently I've been able to work my BA to around .270, mostly because of the playing time I'm getting. I'm not a starter, even though I'm the #1 LF now, but leading up to the trade deadline the Royals thought it was wise to get rid of their starting LF, 2B, CF, 3rd, so now I get plenty of starts off the bench playing infield and LF. Begged to be traded but no luck, currently we are like 30-75, and it seems if we don't score at least 5 runs there is 0 chance of a win, at least I get plenty of opportunities for plays in LF lol.

Best choices for 4th and 5th pitch?

Currently doing very well with only a Running FB, Change, and 12-6 Curve.

Would like something that runs away from RH batters...so thinking one of my new pitches should be a Slider or Cutter.

I like the combo Running FB / Cutter.

Also thinking Splitter or Sinker to increase groundballs. Though I have always liked the Slurve. I really like the Sweeping Curve, too...but think that would be redundant with the 12-6.

Thoughts?

Cutter/RFB is a good combo. Can jam both sides of the plate and get those groundballs. Cutter works great for this guy the Yankees have, Mariano Rivera.
So might not need the sinker with a Cutter/RFB combo. Can't offer any advise on a breaking ball though, sorry.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

Been a while since I posted last. I was having issues with my 1b/power contact hitter I had started. I had great success with my pitching, but my position player was doing AWFUL. So much so that my pitcher was heads and shoulders better than he was at hitting. I believe it was due to pressure on my part. I guess my own clutch setting wasn't high enough.

So, after a HUGE hint at adjusting the sliders, I was finally able to hit. My first game after adjustment resulted in a 3-5 game with 3 hr. This, admittedly, was a bit much. Fortunately my skill has dropped and I am now batting at a respectable clip.

He registered at about .425 or so in AA after a full season. Had about 5 HR and 38 or so RBI. AAA was about the same the next year. He started out with the Giants, because that is who I wanted him playing for, but was traded to the TB Devil Rays club.

Halfway through my AAA season, right before the all star game, they pulled me up to the show. There, I hit an RBI in every single game I played in until they pulled me back down.

My dude's stats (in RTTS, not game stats) were still abyssmal, so it was understood. However, in the REAL majors, I imagine my manager would keep me up and let me go should I continue to produce.

Anyways, that being said, I have recently come back up to the bigs following another 1b injury to the starter and am currently batting around .353 with 2 HR and 9 RBI in about 40 ABs.

Very happy. Would like to thank the community again for the tips on adjusting the sliders should you encounter a portion of the game that is just too difficult to enjoy, such as hitting for me.

My pitcher is now fully in the bigs. He was signed for a 22 million dollar contract with the White Sox which he turned down. He's going to, hopefully, establish himself in the league before, again hopefully, picking the team he decides to play for, the San Francisco Giants.

He's an Ace
