My second RTTS ever, I signed a two year deal in the offseason of my first year in baseball, AA, worth $5 mil at $2.5 mil a year. I played half of a second season in the minors, the other half in the majors and then my 3rd year in the majors.

I sort of interpreted the fact that they offered me such low money to mean that I was not meeting their expectations. I could be very wrong, though. That may just be my player. But you seem to be putting up some decent numbers judging from this and past posts I have seen from you. I would have expected them to offer you at least close to a $1 mil.
Maybe it's due to the type of player I am...When I first created myself, i assigned 3-4 attribute pts to every category possible so nothing really stands out about me.....I'm basically a slap-the ball around the field, singles type of hitter.....i only hit 3 hr's last year but drove in a respectable 45 runs and had a good postseason in my estimation.....My detriment was my fielding..I committed 12 errors and my reaction time was slow at times...My throwing was subpar at best..Def something I have to work on this year...I wonder if I made myself to be a power bat if I would be offered a different contract

So I simmed a season in my RTTS where I'm a SS for the Braves. Look at the ridiculous roster the Yankees have put together. This is going into the 2014 season.

        SP Ubaldo Jimenez
        SP Josh Johnson
        SP Stephen Strasburg
        SP Jair Jurrjens
        SP Clayton Kershaw
        SP Trevor Cahill
        SP Brandon Beachy

        C Chris Iannetta
        C Russell Martin
        1B Mark Teixeira
        2B Robinson Cano
        3B Kevin Youkilis
        LF Carlos Lee
        CF Jackie Bradley Jr.
        RF Jason Hewyard
        RF Nelson Cruz

I mean that's ridiculous. They have five or six aces making up their rotation and Trevor Cahill and Brandon Beachy are their 6th and 7th best starters!! Then they've got a lineup with Teixeira, Cano, Youkilis, Lee, Heyward and Cruz? How does this happen?

          ugh

moving along in season 2 and its not pretty

          350ab .210 avg 11hr and like 37rbi 40bb

my contact is 65/85 and power is 65/99 and vision is at about 70.

at one point the who is hot/cold screen came up and i was batting .054 for that stretch. everything i hit these days seems to be a grounder smoked to 1st baseman or 2nd baseman and they dont even have to move to field. literally right to them. line drives to the outfield do the same thing, most of the time the fielder doenst have to run at all to catch the ball. i'm sure its all bad luck (i even have more bb than k) but it still feels bad. veteran analog hitting btw

Oddly enough, I'm going into year 2016, and the Yanks have had a very similar rotation for the last couple years:

            Cahill
            Johnson
            Strasburg
            Kershaw
            Sabathia
            Wainwright

Ubaldo Jimenez is actually on the Red Sox. Who also got Verlander, adding to Beckett, Lester, and Bucholz. They also had a stacked lineup, adding Josh Hamilton among others.

Is dynamic attendance supposed to be present? I was thinking it was...

Anyway, I'm in 2016, playing on the Orioles. We were terrible the previous two years, but this year, we're 24 games over .500 (87-63), still a few games back of the Yanks, but we have the Wild Card all but wrapped up (11 game lead with 12 games to go). Camden Yards is EMPTY, just about every home game! We've been good all year, and I'd like to think that making a playoff push with a team that's been good all year long would bring the people of Baltimore out to the park. I feel like I'm playing with the Marlins... wonder if we'll wind up having playoff games that don't sell out.

I just found it odd. Not a huge gripe or anything, but I just figured we'd be getting some good attendance with this good of a team.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

So a while back someone mentioned the manager pitcher hook slider a while back in response to me and another poster bringing up the psychotic managing for RttS pitchers. I checked it, I have it set all the way to pull pitchers late...
Opening Day, Toronto. We're up 2-0 and I'm going all Cliff Lee on the Red Sox. 1 out into the 7th with 71 pitches I give up a 20-hopper up the middle (Hanley has zero range...). No mound visit, no catcher going to the mound, I get pulled immediately. Some bullpen [not nice person] comes in and gives up 3 runs on the spot. Blue Jays lose 4-3. This is with the slider set all the way to have a late hook. With my pitcher having won 3 Cy Youngs and having led the league in pretty much everything the past 3 years. All pitching and fielding/durability stats are 99. I can't imagine what the manager would've done if I had that slider half way; pull me after 5?

On another note, I accidentally overwrote this RttS with my centerfielder RttS and the oldest back-up I have is a month old. Needless to say I'm done with pitcher RttS. It has stopped being fun with the manager not letting me pitch past the 6th inning if the lead is 3 runs or less even if I give up a hit on a bloop or a bunt.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I honestly cannot believe what just happened to me. I just finished my rookie year in the MLB earning the Triple Crown, Cy Young, Rookie of the Year, and league MVP awards. I led the Twins to a World Series victory and earned MVP of the World Series.

During the offseason, they offer me an insulting 1 year deal worth $1.7 mil. I refuse and counter with wanting to earn at least $3.5 mil (actually, I think it should have been A LOT more than that) and they tell me "I need to be more realistic with my demands."

To me, $3.5 mil is a drop in the bucket for the caliber of pitcher I am and pretty much delivering them a World Series on a silver platter.

We argue until I finally just give up and not sign.. They ended up renewing my contract for $1.5 mil automatically. So here I am, the star of the entire league at this point and I am making less than some AAA guys.

I have to say, this is the first time I have been disappointed in this game as I just don't see this as being realistic. No team would turn their Ace and the best pitcher in baseball into an indentured servant, especially when other teams, I am sure, would pay top dollar for my services. I know what you're thinking, $1.7 mil for a season is a lot, not in baseball it isn't and certainly not for top caliber players.

The problem is, they won't honor a trade either. They are pretty much forcing me to pitch at minimum dollar with no chance of a way out. I don't have the option of sitting out the season either in protest.

It is my feeling that this game uses some sort of algorithm based on time served and not performance when resigning rookies. It must set priority to veterans even though star rookies are delivering them championships. If I am wrong please tell me. I just don't understand the money equaling what I delivered them over the entire season.

P.S. I know the Devs that post here said they are not taking ideas for MLB 12. But if you read this, I sincerely hope you adjust the resign offers teams make to rookies that out perform almost every veteran in the game. I really do think this needs a revamp.

Chemical, they OWN you for 3 years of service. Then you have 3 years of arbitration where they are the only team that can deal with you. I think the game does honor the "Super 2" rules which might get you an arb year early.

In those first 3 years, yes, you will get low offers and why you'll get automatic renewals. That's how small market teams can afford the stars, and why they trade them away after a few years.

You'll cash in later, in your arb years and certainly in your free agent years.

Now, the only thing that is a true game flaw is how the budgeting works, about 3 years into your RTTS career, teams start capping out and don't have the money to sign everyone at the desired salaries. I think the patches improved that to some degree, but I don't know if it fixed it completely.

Yeah, I hate this 6 year minimum rule, I really do. I mean, not that salaries even matter in this game. It is just a number on a screen but oddly enough, I do feel like my guy is being ripped off. LOL....

Back into Spring now and eating up the competition again. Looks like another record breaking year for my pitcher.

I guess it is time to start working on getting my SS to the majors now..

                      Batting .433, 19HR's, 73RBI's, 3BB's (yeah, I launch everything, very impatient), 102SO's in his Double-A season.

Single handidly won the Double-A all star game with 2 jacks and 4RBI's. The South won 4-0. I am really starting to love hitting in this game.

so with only a few games left in season 2 i've been able to rasie my performance to almost not terrible

im up to about .230 with 19hr and 75 rbi

pretty terrible but considering how i was doing earlier its a big improvement. even had a stretch where i had hr in 5 out of 6 games and managet to hit for the cycle. as bad a my numbers are the rest of the rookies are terrible so i probably would have won roty if i was eligible

my team is about 18 games out of first, with me being a big reason since i am not doing my job as the clean up hitter

one new tip i can give now is that if you're gonna guess location do it low rather than anywhere else. my production seemed to climb nicely when i started guessing low rather than inside

Thats exactly what I do because i have trained my eye to not swing at outside or inside pitches (I am a lefty) but the high ones still get me especially if I am in a slump. I don't know if this is right but it seems like the pitchers adapt to where i am weak because i can be a sucker for well placed sliders outside and for a while every LHP I faced threw it there. Loving this years mode really well and My Astros who I thought would suck actually are first in the division but the ole Redbirds are only a half game out. Pitching has been the weakest link for us for 2 years in a row but I have officially replace Carlos Lee

I have this issue too... I think for me it winds up being because, if the guy has a good curveball, I see that pitch start high, think to myself "Wait for the break, then swing", and although it never breaks, I still swing late, when I would if it were to break down in the zone.

Bad habit, for sure. Lately opposing pitchers have been NAILING pitches at the knees against me, and I've had more K's looking than I used to because of it.

As far as the team goes, the O's finally made the playoffs in 2016, finishing 95-67, 6 games behind the Yankees in the division. Played Detroit in the first round - promptly got swept 3-0. Soria blew the save in the second game, and we scored 3 in the 9th in game 3, but came up a run short. The Tigers wound up beating Texas 4 games to 1 in the ALCS, then beat the Phillies 4 games to 1 in the World Series. So, they pretty much steam rolled through the playoffs.

In the offseason, Halladay AND Cliff Lee retired, so big blow for the Phillies. Until they picked up Tim Lincecum. As for the O's, Miguel Cabrera did not return, signed with Florida (after winning the AL MVP award for Baltimore), and Dan Haren and John Lannan moved on as well (Haren went to Detroit...if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, right? , Lannan went to the Indians). We did, however, pick up Buster Posey and Hunter Pence.

The bad thing is, the reason we won so many games last year was because the pitching was so good. Led the league in most pitching categories. Soria won the relief award, with 52 saves. Now, we're back to Aardsma being the closer. So, it will be interesting to see how this year goes. This is the last year of my contract with them, so it will go a long way to determining whether I wind up returning to Baltimore or not. It was pretty fun having such a good year and making the playoffs on a team that had struggled for so long.

Dude nice job getting to the playoffs with the O's!!! My RTTS SP I made came up with the royals and then i got traded for Zach Britton which was weird cause I was a good Lefty but I ended up going like 8 - 2 cause i had almost zero run support and we finished with a bad record
