Just for kicks, I simmed ahead for a few months, still using my earned "training points" along the way, and then noticed that ALL of my high earned ratings when significantly DOWN. I had contact boosted up over 90 and after simming, they kept going down down down.

You still have to maintain them every 8 weeks I think or they will decrease.

It can take a while in the beginning to get going. Try adjusting the sliders in your favor till you feel comfortable...then you can slowly adjust the sliders till you find the sweet spot of challenge and fun.

Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

Just finished my 1st MLB season with SEA as a 2B. Had a .360 avg with just over 60 HR's and 100+ SB's and ended up breaking Hack Wilson's RBI record because of all the hitters in front of me. Mike Stanton batted 5th behind me, ended up .298/51/158 and left via FA. His replacement? Jose Tabata. Ugh. The team had a chance to get Strasburg or Cliff Lee in FA, chose a fading and aging Cliff Lee for 2014.

At least we won the WS. SEA beat ATL in four and swept the NYY in the div series, but fellow AL East rivals Texas took us seven. I don't expect the playoffs anytime soon the way the game is managing the roster. We had Kimbrel and Venters, who the "GM" traded for Joel Hanrahan and some other nondescript starter.

I took a break from that one and worked on my SS RTTS (NYY) for a minute and then moved to my pitcher, getting him to the Show. He was drafted by Seattle as well, and being tired of the Mariners at the moment I asked for a trade and a week later I was moved to the Cards. Works for me, they still have Pujols, added Bautista and still have Freese and Motte. Add that I prefer the NL anyway (pitching to pitchers) I was happy to say the least. My first game was a 2 hit, 1 run outing over 6 innings vs the Reds. My second was a 6 hit, 1 run outing over 7 innings vs the Cubs, both wins.

A little bit of turnabout being fairplay: my first official MLB batter faced - I K'd Ichiro, whom I thought was going to be a team mate.

                  Normal swing or x.

I've had no problem hitting HR's with my player over the course of his career using x.

I just started replaying my RTTS after about 2 months off. I'm currently in May of 2017 and I'm the 2B for the Texas Rangers (I was traded in the off-season, former team was Detroit).

I started off hot but have been in a slump my last 10 games but my batting average is still above .300 (.310 to be exact) with 10 HR's and 29 RBI's. I'm enjoying playing for a new team.

It's funny in Detroit we averaged around 8,000 fans a game, in Texas we have 30,000 plus every game. Playing in front of more fans is awesome and definitely improves the atmosphere plus it helps not being on a terrible team anymore. It makes a huge difference in playing in front of a full house or an empty crowd.

Just started a separate RTTS SP. Making a lefty starter this time. Instead of usual RFB, CCH, 12-6, SLD and CUT repertoire I'm giving him a plain heater, regular curve and changeup, a slurve and I am unsure of fifth pitch. What do you guys think? I may go with the cutter again or with a sinker.

Shaun, you could go with a 2-seam FB (or sinker, somewhat similar) to play off the 4FB. I'm a fan of this setup:

                          4FB
                          Breaking ball (user preference)
                          Change (user preference)
                          CUT
                          2FB

It gives a nice mix of speed & movement to attack batters on either side of the plate. You can bury the cutter on the hands or at the back foot on opposite handed hitters or use it like a tight slider away from same-sided. Similar idea with the 2FB; throw it at their hands/feet or down & away.

                            Thanks! May do that.

I really wish they didn't jack up the speeds on the changeups. I almost hate maxing out my fastball speed because of how fast the change gets up to. A 100mph FB with a 90mph change? Really?

With my righty SP playing for the Cards, just had my worst outing. I was cruising along with only one loss on the season until, right before the All Star break, I ran into the Milwaukee buzzsaw. I gave up 7 runs over two innings, finally geting pulled in the 4th after giving up one more run. NOTHING worked. Pitches that were spotted with 1995 Greg Maddux precision were jacked out. ERA jumped from 1.52 to 1.76. What's cool is I started the All-Star game and hit my first homer with him. Since I was in a game that didn't count I went for the fences with power swing all three times, the last swing connecting on a hanging slider from Jon Lester.

For the season Duke Davis (the Righty SP) is 11-2 with a 1.76 ERA and 174 K's. No shot at Nolan Ryan's K record, but I'll break 300. I love burying the cutter and RFB on guys hands, great pitches.

Something I did was get rid of the 12-6 and swap it for regular curveball. I can't spot the 12-6 for some reason, whereas the CB I can. Most of the HR's I have gave up were off the 12-6. Even when I had a perect release I still hung the 12-6 or it was too low. I gave up on it.

Speaking of the Cutter, I am toying with dropping it for a sinker. What do you guys think?

While working on my RTTS SS (Joe "Flash" Gordon) I abruptly ended up traded to ATL for Tim hudson straight up. Resigned to going to ATL (my fav team) a week later I get traded to Minnesota, for Mourneau. The only good news was the trade put me in the Bigs instead of AAA. As of Mid August (one week after trade) I am hitting .300 with a couple homers, 5 RBI's and 3 steals.

And then the weird "only in MLB the Show" moment happened - my ATL LF was traded to Yanks. Go figure. Stuck in AAA with Yanks because of Brett Gardner.

The good thing in all this is I finally figured out movie maker. Movie maker = good stuff.

Ok, I have figured out movie maker pretty well, how to trun the cameras, etc., and then I tried using the video editor and found I could combine different saved videos. Sweeeet. I was able to add text, etc. here is my fisrt attempt using the PS3 video editor. Guys, meet Joe "Flash" Gordon
