so here are the areas im looking to upgrade
    2nd base
end of rotation 4 or 5th starter

    soriano
    blake dewitt
    jeff baker
    randy wells
    angel guzman

things im lookin for in my second basemen good leadoff good basestealiing ability and hits for average

    thanks in advance
The Cubs are deep in the minors with some pitchers. Keep Wells, use Chasner as the #5 and go from there. No need to make a move.

As far as 2nd base goes....if you really don't want to use Barney and don't want to wait for a guy like LeMaheiu then Emmanuel Burris of the Giants would be pretty cheap to get.

Ok with the all star break over, it is time to look towards making that pitching move, or else doing nothing. I can get any of the following pitchers straight up for my top catching prospect, Max Stassi. Below are the comparisons to my current catcher, Kurt Suzuki.

      Suzuki: Age - 29; Contract - 1 more year of $4 mil; R/L power - 60/71; Arm - 92; Blocking - 96; Fielding - 65

      Stassi: Age - 22; Contract - 2 more years at $1.5; R/L power - 59/61; Arm - 83; Blocking - 84; Fielding - 78

      Pitchers available:

      Sea - Cliff Lee
TB - Johnny Cueto, Matt Garza
SD - Chris Volstad, Aroldis Chapman
Arz - Roy Oswalt, Mike Leake
      Was - Jordan Zimmerman

So what do you guys think? I could probably get the same deal for Suzuki, or an even better one, but I am not about to trade away my all star catcher when I am still in the playoff race.

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread** 2011 Edition

in the sims i have done with the A's, stassi has developed quite well. i was in a similiar situation to choose between suzuki and stassi, i ended up choosing stassi and not resigning suzuki. both players simmed very well, if i wasnt so close to winning the division, i would have traded suzuki by the deadline.

so pick which ever one you like more, im pretty sure you will get excellent trade value with either.

as far as what pitcher, how far out (or ahead) in the division are you? do you plan to re-sign during free agency? are you looking for someone to fill out your rotation? or are you looking for an ace ?

          Is this abusing the CPU?

I get Mike Trout, the CPU gets my worst player in the organization.

          Abuse?

I am blown away with how easy it is to make trades in franchsie. I stopped using fantasy franchise because it was waaaaaaay too easy to build a dynasty. I am using Toronto and traded some 27yo AAA A potential for Bryce Harper. Now, Harper is declining in almost every category. I assume its because he can't do anything else in AAA. Oh well, I will keep him on the farm until June 2012. I think I will have to start over and stay away from crazy unfair trades.

There were a couple fair trades that I made at the break: Gave up Juan Rivera for Manny str8up; Raji Davis for Andrew Jones; and Brad Penny for a B potential 24yo SP.

How does a trade like this sound:

                Pirates Get:
                C Miguel Olivo

                Mariners Get:
                C Ryan Doumit

I was thinking of trading a veteran defensive catcher for a more younger one with a little pop...whadayall think?
                Kemp for NL MVP
                Montero for AL ROY

Olivo plus a bullpen arm (Wilhelmsen/some other C level arm) probably gets it done more realistically, IMO.

Doing an Indians franchise, just getting started. I have the injuries updated and everything and am expecting Grady Sizemore to come off the DL in a few weeks. I am thinking about trading him soon after he returns, you guys have any ideas for trade destinations for him? I'd like to keep it pretty realistic, if possible.

Max Stassi - Catcher - 20 year old B pot
                        Eric Sogard - 2B - 24 Year Old C Pot

Gives me a legit 3 hitter, and a great glove, and leader. Really liking this trade.
                        Thoughts?

For any A's fans out there... when will Grant Green be ready? Cliff Pennington has played only subpar thus far.
Young doesn't have the A's as one of his 8 teams that he would be traded to. Unrealistic. Plus Texas already has a younger 1B, plenty of depth at C in the minors...
                        His list is this:
Rockies, Angels, Astros, Dodgers, Twins, Yankees, Cardinals, Padres.

Lucas May from the Royals might have been a good option. Real good against lefties, but not too bad against righties aswell.

Any suggestions on a player with a ton of speed? I'm thinking Michael Bourn, but he will be tough to get. I just need a guy with a ton of speed to burn who I can bring off the bench/give me decent AB's.

                              No.

You'd have to give them some prospects back for Doumit. Giving them back an old washed up defensive catcher for one of the lynch [ins of their team is robbery.

                                Looking infield or outfield?

LF - Scott Podsednik (TOR) - Really good contact
CF - Carlos Gomez (MIL) - Not so much contact
2B - Chris Getz (KC) - Great base running ability, but contact could be a little better
2B - Eric Young Jr. (COL) - Good contact

These guys are pretty much a guaranteed stolen base and all of them have good to better than most contact. They will come at a cheaper price than Bourn aswell. Personally I would go for Podsednik. He is 34, but he can rake for me in the game.
