I think what some of us are getting at more or less boils down to feeling the analog meter strike zone is just a bit too wide. This means more misses over the plate than outside the zone, regardless of intent.

        Most of the work that was done with analog was under the hood as I mentioned in another post. I know user input with the analog stick was part of that work as well. We will have to see what everyone's thoughts are with the adjustments and see if you guys really feel the strike zone on the meter needs to shrink. Not sure if that is the right way to go to be honest!

            That was in reference to analog pitching nothing else.

              Since the Fielder's speed has been reduced and the ball physics allow for more line drive gappers and bloop singles, is it harder to be a pitcher allowing more hits?

                To be honest I think its harder to be the hitter. The ball reacts based on how it is struck so if you are not true when you make contact your hits are weaker. We got away with things a little with the older physics imo.

                  Oh gotcha thanks nem. I know you were always a classic guy is analog your preference these days? Does it combine user skill so that the user cant dominate like with meter?

                    I enjoy the two player option of analog the best where you do not see any of your movements of lining up the ball icons at the top of the meter, all that is stationary so you do not give your location away to your opponent. I liked it because you had to feel your way in matching things up and only got a visual flash when you timed things correctly. I was really rallying to try and get the 2 player option in for single player use against the cpu for the added challenge. Unfortunately it did not get in.

                    So actually I will probably use pulse pitching but I really wish I had input for effort behind pitches. If that does not hold me I will go back to classic.

                      That makes sense. In real life if you succeed 3 out of 10 times your an all star. Thanks for the quick answer!

                        I'm happy to hear this. I've always felt that there were too many hits in the games I played.

                          If you felt that, why not up the difficulty?

                          There was never "too many hits" in the games we played. In fact, we kept asking for more offense. We weren't sure if we were just THAT competitive but we had to stay on AS or else we would see a lot of 1-2, 1-0 games with the rare occasional 5-3.

                          On All Star you had a great variance, including one game where I was robbed - TWICE - 7-6.

                              Hmmm, I guess I have been pitching on classic and enjoying it for so many years I never thought of changing but if your switching I am guessing it is probably based more on player ratings than user skill. Is this the case? I may have to give this pulse a try. Cool thing is ya you can always go back.

                                Unfortunately once you select it you are locked into that choice. A giant pulsating "X" appears in front of your PS3 and prevents you from ever picking a different control scheme.
